- Almost Again by Strapping Young Lad has always confused me because I could never understand how it’s being played on drums. Typical Gene Hoglan grooves which only work if you are Gene. :)
With the help of Dirk Verbeuren I managed to learn it. He gave me the tip to start the double bass pattern with the left foot. So you not only have to play the hi-hat and bass drum pedal at the same time but also lead with your left foot.
Now you can enjoy the DRUMS ONLY version of this song.

Gene's style is so unique... Amazing job covering it! I can barely wrap my head around those grooves.
Yeah! While listening The New Black, i have to close my eyes and try to imagine how Gene played those insane drum parts.

It's crazy how this drum composition doesn't seem to make that much sense on its own, but in the context of the song it's amazing. That a sign of a great arrangement!
