I know it's an old workout, but just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy it. I'm 22, so not quite a senior (ha!) but I have many health problems that make workouts really hard. I've found that senior workouts are easy enough on my body that I don't get too tired too fast and give up, but difficult enough that I've finally started building muscle! there's also a focus shift that I love: instead of working out for appearances, the focus is to workout for health, and it's so much more encouraging. thank you for making these videos and helping us stay in shape
Thank you so much Nicole! I am so proud of you for finding workouts for YOU, your level right now. And I love that you realize the workouts are not all about appearances, but health long term. I am here for you whenever needed!! Take care, Meredith
I like this one alot...I break a sweat, and if I'm wanting a bit more, I hold weights for the cardio portion. Between this and my nature walks, daily yoga practice, I think I have a balanced fitness plan for myself. I'm 66 and my goal is to see 100 (at least)! Thanks so much Meredith...you have given me confidence to do HIIT!
Glad I found Meredith. Have been trying to find a low impact cardio that I can squeeze in before I head to the office. This fits the bill. Thanks Meredith. I’ll be back!
Thank you so much! So happy you found this workout and it works for you before work...and I hope you find many others I have that will be perfect too! Look forward to hearing from you again soon! Meredith
Thank you! So appreciated this too. Not so difficult that I want to give up but hard enough to get a good workout and get stronger and in better shape. Covid has been difficult for my workouts away from home.
Hi Vallerie! I am so happy you enjoyed this HIIT workout! And you can feel the benefits from it! I am so proud of you...and I know it has been difficult this last year! You are doing great! Take care and stay well, Meredith
I am the Group Fitness Manager at a YMCA, and I looked at this class this morning for a quick change up for my Young at Heart with Weights class, and they loved it! It was easy to follow and they got a great workout! THANKS!
Hi ZaKia! That is so great!! Thank you so much for checking out my workout format, and sharing it! And so happy the participants enjoyed it!! Keep up the great work in all you do, and tell your Young at Heart class "Great work, I am so proud". Take care, Meredith
Another awesome workout Meredith; thank you so much for providing this and all of the others. You are so awesome! I love this combination of movements!
Thank you Ruth!! I am so happy you enjoyed the workout...it is a good length and intensity, and I am so happy you enjoyed it!! Keep up the great work! Take care and stay healthy, Meredith
Hi Kathy! Yes, I have intermediate HIIT workouts. www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/workouts/?tag=hiit,%20hiit-exercises,%20hiit-for-seniors,%20hiit-workouts I hope this helps!!
That was amazing workout Meredith, really intense for the stomach muscles, so just what I need I think. Thank you so much all your workouts which are so well thought out and helpful for everyone. Do you have a live audience in front of you whilst you are teaching and who are the team behind you who make this all possible?
Great workout!! I couldn't do the knee & hip exercises on the floor as I have a damaged knee bone. So, I tried it on the bed but couldn't do it well. I'll keep trying & hope to succeed one day.
As I have stated, I do love you and your low impact workouts, that being said, this is senior fitness, and I am not quite there yet, and yet I need slower, low impact, yet still hard work. I am wanting to kindly and gently inform you that most women by my age, let alone older, have some level of Pelvic Organ Prolapse, or POP, I myself have stage 2, and I also have RA, OA, and Fibromaylgia! All of that being stated, squats, crunches, and anything over low impact is horrible for the pelvic floor and joints, even the sharp muscle pains I get with Fibromayalgia! Please everyone 45 and older even, be cautious when it comes to cruches, squats, and anything over low impact. All of this being said, I do love you Meredith, as I have stated, and that I am very joyful and appreciative to have found you, because I was in so much pain with everything hitting me @ once, that I thought I would have to start doing crawling workouts, no joke, then I found you. Moreover, I am fully aware that we don't have to do the workouts of yours that we don't feel comfortable with, just giving a little info on the harsh reality of what ageing does to most of our bodies, we keep moving and do the best we can, and that is good enough! I used to be way into fitness, I ran cross country, did beginner level rock climbing, was an avid hiker, and, I even did 1,000 crunches a day, this was all in my teens and throughout my 20s, tbh, I wish I would have known what was going to happen after menopause, and it is all actually quite common! I would have stuck with nature walks, and light weights, and not all that heavy duty stuff, it comes back to haunt us later, if you have even one age related ailment, or perhaps, like me, you already had many, but you don't feel the extreme symptoms and pain until a few yrs post menopausal! Anyway, and in summary, that is my sob story, and hopefully a bit of awareness, but I still love at least a handful I have found so far of yours, Meredith, you are a wonderful personal trainer and inspiration!
@@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith You're Welcome. And I was not saying anything bad about you or this workout, I was only stating that as you age, the reality sets in, that what you used to do, does not always work now, and actually hurts or makes things worse. That being said, I love your cardio stuff, it is the absolute best, I personally just cannot nor would I want to do squats, crunches, etc., ever again, but that is just me, and knowing what I know regarding ageing, and my particular health issues, which are in fact, and unfortunately, quite common and painful, with each passing year. I won't say anymore, as I was only trying to help, and I have given you your due compliments on your workouts otherwise, which I greatly appreciate you and them. :) Everyone, stay safe, and may we make it through this COVID19 stuff.
Enjoying the workouts! Can feel and see benefits. Question, how heavy are are the various dumbbells? I bought a pair of 2 kilo weights for 20 euro from a guy on FB marketplace, but think I want heavier after a month of daily HIIT workouts.
I’m so glad you are seeing and feeling benefits! If you feel your dumbbells are not as challenging, you should get some heavier ones. Then you can switch between them! Take care Jim!
Hi Christy! I use the GymBoss Timer: www.amazon.com/Gymboss-Interval-Timer-Stopwatch-SOFTCOAT/dp/B00CO8HO6O/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3MH9Z5IPU3WIY&dchild=1&keywords=gym+boss+tabata+timer&qid=1609207065&sprefix=gym+boss%2Caps%2C231&sr=8-3 Been using it for years and I really like it. There are many apps also that I am sure are good, just a search for those will help. I hope that helps!! Thank you for the comment and support! Take care, Meredith
Meredith, I have active seniors. Would you ever do another round on these 5 sets to extend the workout? The cardio part, not abs. What size weights are you using in this workout?
Yes, that is a great option for those who can and want to do a longer workout. I am using 5lb dumbbells, but I would recommend lower weight. Take care!
I have a question. How many calories do you burn in 20 minutes of this program that you do? I love this one, and the full body resistance, all of them that you do are great!
Hi Lynne! Thank you again for the comment! As for calories burned, it will be different for each person depending on weights used and activity level and exertion. I would say probably 270-400 calories possibly. I appreciate your kind words...so happy you enjoy all the workouts:) Take care, Meredith
@@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith I use 3 pound weights. I love your workouts. And I am so blessed that I can do them. I am sweating! Your videos are the BEST! Be blessed.

Thanks for this, Jenny. Really informative. I had no idea about the pelvic floor issue and swats/crunches. Does yoga exacerbate these issues?

Oh, the greys are 10lb, purple are 8lbs, greens are 5lb.
