They didn't though, they had an outline. This proved that they weren't really good in interpreting the rest of the story, post season five, Martin gave them. I'm inclined to believe that they just didn't truly grasp the story in the end.

"A Game of Thrones" is only the name of book one. The white walkers are and always have been the true threat, life vs death has always been the true battle. No battle between petty houses led by selfish humans for some stupid chair could ever be a fraction as important OR climactic as the war between life and death.
This episode should have the been the finale episode. The white walkers were the ultimate threat, the throne was meaningless compared to the Night King and his army

Personalmente avrei messo l'arrivo del re della notte a winterfell settima stagione, in modo da arrivare in qualche modo a 10 episodi. Dando così uno sviluppo molto ampio nella stagione 8. Incentrare i primi 3 episodi alla battaglia e poi altri 4 per riprendersi e preparasi alla battaglia finale. Due episodi per la battaglia a King's landing ,e poi passare all'episodio 10 con un degno finale.
Killing him in episode three out of six is the real problem in my opinion. First battle, he doesn't even get past Winterfell, never interacts with Cersei, so the heroes showing her the wight was utterly pointless, and so was losing Viserion. The writers clearly didn't think any of it through.
Like in every reaction video of this scene, people screamed and applauded when Arya killed the Night King. I thought it was good too. The only problem was that they build his character for 7 seasons and the line "winter is coming" is repeated like 1000 times in the entire series only for it to end in one episode. There should have been a whole season dedicated to plot and kill the Night King. They rushed it too much.
God this is so incredible. The music alone made the final season watchable. There are not enough words to describe how amazing Ramin Djawadi is.

Personalmente avrei messo l'arrivo del re della notte a winterfell settima stagione, in modo da arrivare in qualche modo a 10 episodi.
Dando così uno sviluppo molto ampio nella stagione 8. Incentrare i primi 3 episodi alla battaglia e poi altri 4 per riprendersi e preparasi alla battaglia finale. Due episodi per la battaglia a King's landing ,e poi passare all'episodio 10 con un degno finale.

Killing him in episode three out of six is the real problem in my opinion. First battle, he doesn't even get past Winterfell, never interacts with Cersei, so the heroes showing her the wight was utterly pointless, and so was losing Viserion. The writers clearly didn't think any of it through.

Like in every reaction video of this scene, people screamed and applauded when Arya killed the Night King. I thought it was good too. The only problem was that they build his character for 7 seasons and the line "winter is coming" is repeated like 1000 times in the entire series only for it to end in one episode. There should have been a whole season dedicated to plot and kill the Night King. They rushed it too much.

On this display the colours are actually great for some reason unlike in the actual episode on the premiere day. Did HBO fix the colours?
