As an old Aussie just 3 months away from being closer to 70 than 60 (everyone that knew me would've bet their house I'd never make 30), the HH were the first "rap" that I ever loved. I remember when it first came out and I was going hard to it in my car and a bunch of young guys pulled up next to me, pissed themselves laughing at the old fart, then smiled and gave me the big thumbs up. We were all enjoying the same song though we were generations apart. That is what great music can do for people.

yeh can relate fellow old fark. My 60yr old ass was parked on the side of the road while I had a little indulgence and fortunately I was tuned inti triple J when the live version of this song came on and blew me away. The timing was perfect and supplemented my high better then any other song could have at that point in time. I didn't know who it was but waited for the end of it to find out. All I heard was ( something ) " draft. " I raced home to look it up on you tube before it got lost in other thoughts and the sands of time.

And it is great music. Mate, I have got so many people into these guys. I tell the story of meeting them in the Stirling Hotel, when I first moved to Adelaide from NSW. Didn't know who they were, and that amused them , I think. Great fellas. I'm 55. Music is music. What you get and understand is what matters. My favourite ever male singer / songwriter is Eddie Cochran, and he died 7 years before I was born. My fave woman singer, Etta James . So age means NOTHING ! Keep singing in that car, Maurice.

Interesting the Hoods mention Pat Bennetar. Its only recently, through the www info, that I found out the Pat's song All Fired Up, was written by an Aussie Kerryn Tolhurst, in the 1970s, when he was with the Dingoes. He was also involved in Country Radio and their great song Gypsy Queen from 1972. So there is another hidden connection to Aussies.
