    Is this about school shootings?

It's about violence, from the lyrics I suppose the abuse of women which is an issue in America and Russia alike. Although it can be interpreted as it being about school shootings or bullying

@@itsalie8561 here is my first-thought interpretation of the lyrics: the main character, Erica, faces bullying at elementary school, yet when she tells her mother about it, her mother gaslights her, denies the truth, belittles and de-values her pain saying "nobody hurt no one" (let's forgive the grammatically incorrect phrasing, maybe Erica's parents are immigrants and due to that speak broken English), and therefore, of course, doesn't bother switching her to homeschooling or doing anything else to help her, so Erica has to continue to go to school and has no place to run. She grows up, becomes a teenager, but the bullying doesn't stop so she takes a gun and shoots the school.
The only thing I don't understand is why in this song this problem is presented as an "American" one.
I started the first grade in Russia literally at the time this song was released (2005), and since then through all the 4 years of elementary school was bullied by my peers and by the homestead teacher, while my mother was saying it was my fault. "Fortunately" in my case the bullying stopped by the time I was 12 so I didn't have to do a "revenge" (although I dreamed about an apocalypse taking all my bullies' lives, and also developed a bunch of mental health issues).
But the problem is worldspread, it exists in any country where school is mandatory for children.

Veta Voloshanca . I think it is in the Past Simple tense and not the Simple Present.

@@myeurovisiontv4703 I meant the double negative construction

      Veta Voloshanca .
Yeah. It should have been “Nobody hurt anyone”. But maybe it wouldn’t fit the rhythm of the song.
Poetic license, the freedom to depart from the facts of a matter or from the conventional rules of language when speaking or writing in order to create an effect.

Grammar mistake, should be "Nobody hurt anyone". Songwriter must take grammar lessons. So must authors of "We dont need no education". But its a great song. Metallic and James Bondish. They are best

Well, sometimes that mistake can be accepted - for example in this case because it fits the rhythm of the song. The real mistake here is clearly the verb "hurt". "nobody" is singular, so "Nobody HURTS No One" is the correct phrase.

@@MaiNguyen-rn7zx I think the verb "hurt" here is meant to be in the Past Simple tense.

Diva ESCMolitva maybe the song is written in the past tense.
