Besides laziness and the focus on just making a soulless cashgrab, I think the reason the book turned out so horrible is because there were multiple people writing it who were probably just looking for a quick buck. I believe this because from what I’ve seen even the mistakes in these are inconsistent. If there was only one person writing the book you could spot a pattern with the laziness in which it was written, and while you can still do so now, it’s erratic. The consistency in the mistakes varies from character page to character page, and that would not be the case if only one individual was writing it. Because there is some stuff that is right, surprisingly, and there really shouldn’t be if the same disinterested, bored person was writing.
Most likely multiple people that hadn’t ever heard of fnaf were hired to write this, and that’s why the end result is so inconsistent. Does that make sense? Idk, but this is what my mind came up with at 1 am.

This encyclopedia could’ve been more interesting if it treated the animatronics like actual robots from an actual restaurant company, instead of just characters from a video-game/book franchise. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want another glorified FNaF wiki.
How cool would it be to read about stuff like :
    - Exemples of attempted lawsuits against the company throughout the years and how they got away with it or not
    - Police reports about different cases, including the murders
    - How were designed the animatronics and how they got more advanced technologically
    - Testimonies from former employees, parents, cops, health inspectors, lawyers…
    - How the restaurants were so unsanitary that biologists discovered three new species of cockroaches endemic to Fazzbear locations
There’s so much that can be done instead of just “This character is (…), he’s from (…) and he does (…)”. This is what a fictional encyclopedia should do, adding details and anecdotes to give more depths to the universe, making it more alive. It would be better to create new secondary lore than just repeating what we already learn by playing the games.

FNAF books sell like hotcakes and they know that. And this isn't the first or last time they will make a cash grab marketed at children. However, the exclusion of Mike was not an ad even if it could be one by proxy, It was avoided to not reveal lore about him. Much of the book doesn't serve its intended goal due to its attempt to stay frustratingly vague.

Don't worry about being "too hard on it." This is going to be an official product put on shelves. It's also a product to help explain characters in a series held together solely by lore. If this book can't give the reader accurate, credible information, there is no reason for it to be purchased. This would be different if it was a wiki or a fan-made project. However, when things like this are being sold for however many dollars and are lazily slapped together, the kiddie gloves come off. I've heard similar complaints against the Ultimate Guide as well. We as consumers are well within our rights to tear bad products to shreds and make it clear we demand better from the people Scott and Steel Wool license the franchize out to.

Hate hate hate that the fanon version of Elizabeth became semi-canon :( . While I know in abusive households there tends to be a child who’s doted on the most, but people always fail to realize that when it comes to abusive parent(s), that attention is never particularly GOOD attention. William afton showed himself in the books as a horrible father to all of his kids, even if he seemed to like Elizabeth the most out of his three, that doesn’t mean he spoiled her at all. I feel like people just read the Harry Potter books as kids and saw how much Dudley was spoiled and doted on while Harry was locked under the stairs, and just grew up assuming that’s how all abusive households are like.
Abusive parents are not capable of taking care of any child properly, even the ones they like, and in no way would Elizabeth could be spoiled. She most likely grew up just as controlled and abused as Michael and C.C, just her trauma manifested differently, and people assumed just because she’s the annoying little girl character that she was spoiled and wasn’t nearly as damaged as the sad boy characters.
Anyways, sorry for hyper focusing on just that part, I’m just tired and really disappointed in this book haha

Just because my grandma liked my uncle, it didn't mean he was doted on- he was neglected and my mum was a victim of extreme helicopter parenting.
It's very infuriating to read that William essentially bent over backwards for Elizabeth. Kind of off topic, but the depiction of William in the Squimpus tapes is perfect, in my opinion and it touches of what you mentioned with good vs bad attention.

      heres an idea:
have pages for all the main characters
      freddy,bonnie,chica,foxy,baby,the puppet,afton,micheal, ect
their alternet versions can have seprate pages IF they are notable
for example, withered freddy and freddy can have the same page but foxy and mangle can have seprate pages
actually have a games chapter and books chapter, one for game stuff and one for the books
dont be extreamly vage with characters
have a page for all the skins
dont waist the intire page on discribing a character whos image is right there
possibly bring up fan theorys like the ultamate gide
      talk about the characters acuratly
pages have art or a modle of the character with the tagline under it and then an intro to the character, then what they do, there personality, voice, other traits, bringing up strange things about them, fan theorys, other stuff, also there game apearences are on the side
      heres an example!
      the daycare attendent
      sun and moon
      sunny side up!
the dark side of the moon..
sun and moon are the two halfs have the daycare attendent at freddy fazbears mega pizzaplex, dispite sharing the same body, these characters are night and day from each other (pun very much intended)
apearence: the sun has a sylized sun/eclipce looking face with orange spikes on his head, and striped jester attire with a orange, yellow, and tan color schem
moon looks the same but is white and dark blue and rather then spikes, wears a nightcap, his clothes are blue with yellow stars
the sun is very overbearing and exited while also seeming a bit nervous and jittery, unlike most robots at the pizzaplex, sun is friendly and dosnt want to hurt you, he jumps into a ballpit from his balconey and pulls you out, listing games to play while also making sure that your no more then a few inches away from him, he also seems to be a neat freak, rushing to pick up toy barels when you knock them over, the sun dosnt seem to like his night themed other side, warning you to keep the lights on, unfortunetly for sun, gregory has more important things to do then play with a slightly creepy daycare robot, when the lights go out as a security messure for stealing the security bage from the daycares offace, sun screams in pain before falling over and transforming from the creepy but wellmeaning sun animatronic, to the ten times more creepy and DEFFENENTLY NOT well meaning MOON animatronic, forcing gregory to wander the darkend daycare with just a flash light while turning on the generators, unfortunetly, sun dosnt take too kindly to you breaking the one rule of the daycare and bans you, alterting freddys friends
moon is sinister and sneaky, crawling and slinking around, even gliding through the air on a cable to reach high places or swoop down on prey, moon laughs creepily while telling gregory that its "past your bedtime" in a raspy voice thats creepy enough that most kids might consider going back to having a bad dream instead of waking up and realizing whats in the daycare with them, moon cannot enter places when the lights are on, but he follows greory out of the daycare once the power is diverted to the recharge stations, moon seems to be much more intelegent then the other animatronics, while roxy is consumed by her competitiveness, chica cant tell friend from food, and monty acts like an actual gator while under VANNYs control, the moon seems much smarter and ALWAYS finds a way to catch gregory unless in a recharge station or when the lights are on as that makes moon turn back into sun
later on, moon kiddnaps freddy when gregory enters the recharge station in the utility tunnles, and also drags him to parts and servace for vanessa, how he can drag someone as heavy as freddy with those thin arms? who knows
if you return to the daycare dispite being baned, the sun will block you from going down the slide and will call for security, though no animatronics show up this time, sun also puts posters saying that your baned on anu other daycare entrences too
interesting things: sun and moon are not just daycare atendents, but also actors at the daycares fazbear theater and mascots for "sundrops and moondrops" energizing and sleepy time candy, as shown from posters all around the pizzaplex, these posters depict moon as being calm and friendly rather then.. well THIS (image of moon when he twists his body up to fit in the play structures) so its possible that moon wasnt always a creepy jester that wants to drownd you in the ballpit and was once more fitting as a daycare attendent, or fazbear entertainment is just trying to hide the true nature of moon instead.. the sundrop posters also imply that fazbear entertainment is giving caffeine to children wich is more then a little unsettling if you really think about it.
you can find a message in a bathroom near the daycare pick up implying that meany children are scared to sleep with the lights off becase of moon.
there are hand prints on suns back, implying that the children actually seem to like sun
by using a fazcam on diffrent cardboard cut outs acrossed the pizzaplex, you can open a hiddin door in the fazbear theater, wich leads to sun/moons room, their room is a mess, wich is suprising considering their need to "CLEAN UP CLEAN UP" things even if it slows them down, theres drawings on the wall, possibly made by kids that came to the daycare, how nice! less nice is the mangled and broken S.T.A.F.F bots lying around, it seems monty isnt the only one with anger isues, a golden moom plush can be found in here, as well as, of course, the balloon world arcade game
this game has you play as balloon boy as he flys throughs the air using balloons to stay afloat, you must doge obstecals and collect balloons while sun smiles, watching you from in the sky, after some time, moon will apear as it become night, he too smiles in the sky, but being moon, its not the kind of smile you want to see.. after sun comes back then he will have moons sinister grin.. and you play for long enough, you will find a glitch, running into it brings you to the ECLIPCE, as you move along a trail of glitchy obstacals, wich you must stay inside of, you eventually get to the eclipce, who stares at you and says "GOOD NIGHT" before the arcade game powers off
      theorys:
some pepole have speculated that the eclipce is the sun and moon combind, considering that an eclipce is when the moon blocks the sun, it starts to make sense why the eclipce keeps suns apearence but still seems to have traits of moon
some pepole have pointed out that sun and moon look alot like the puppet, same kind of head shape but more round, the large smile, the same slender body, stripes on clothes, ect
some pepole have pointed out the sun and moons jester-y apearence match the S.T.A.F.F bot, the circus in the balloon world mini game, as well as the funtime and circus animatronics wich also have a relation to balloon boy
and there! i just wrote a page for the fnaf character enyclopidea in what would take less then an hour, and im not even old enough to be employed! ITS NOT THAT HARD STEELWOOL!

I find the novel and game mixing a bit dangerous because it drastically alters the situations around characters with fanons.
William Afton from the games is really different from the one from the books. They're opposites of each other in terms of talents and character. Game William is often displayed as beneath Fazbears and created the Animatronics. Book William is above Fazbears and is envious of Henry's technical skills.

    • @notrealnamenotatall2476
      @notrealnamenotatall2476  Год назад +8

    • @justice8718
      @justice8718 Год назад +1

@@notrealnamenotatall2476 It really doesn't help that H3nry in the games is a much bigger asshole and is clearly interesting in altering and abusing William's creations for his own gains. If you look into the blue prints, William's Baby is actually missing key features (her helium tank, See the SL interview). William wouldn't mention this currently absent object in the interview, unless a more powerful force (Henry/Fazbears) forced him to change/remove it to save space for the claw. If Book Henry's Adult Charlie was turned into Dave's Dave, then William's Baby was altered by H3nry to be deadlier.
William was so powerless to deal with Fazbear's/Henry's influence, he and Michael had to go after the animatronics in-person to dismantle the mess themselves. And what happened to them? William got trapped in Springtrap (this evil ass animatronic was alive prior to William, but this shadowy being could have his own video alone to explain his eldritch ass) and Michael got scooped half-alive (Michael's body was weird prior to SL's events. His guts were cut open and he walked around just fine). It's heavily implied by PS Baby and Molten Freddy (who is possessed by the MCI children, by the way) that they cared about William (the person they mistaken Michael for), but they were so desperate to escape from H3nry, they resorted to taking over his body. And, they had faith in William willingly becoming their suit (Why don't people take note of this?). Again, Baby and the MCI children feared H3nry and appreciated (who they thought was)-William Afton.
Another thing that is freaky to consider is that Game William and Book Henry are both the main suspects of the MCI, but their partners have "mysteriously' gained more influence/power after the MCI. This was critical to remember because the MCI killer in the games never worn a costume to do his deeds (fnaf1 MCI paper contradiction), but Fnaf2 had William and Foxy take the fall for the MCI. Implying, William Afton was in the Foxy Springlock suit (the only kind of animatronics allowed to roam during the day), and those five children were given multiple private birthday parties by him. Candy Cadet provided further context by telling us stories about a man adopting five orphan children (including Susie. "I was the first"). And in one incident, he lost all five of them at once and desperately tried to bring them back. This protagonist has to be William (who "adopted" the MCI in the books), making H3nry the killer.
[{Events in order: Baby minigame (Elizabeth dies. leaving William depressed), Fruity maze (Susie and William meeting. Susie reminds him of Elizabeth) > Candy Cadet's Criminal story (William adopts five children) > Fnaf2's Foxy Go Go Go (William, as Foxy, witnesses the corpses of his children on their third B-day party. H3nry watches with a smile on his sick face.) > Candy Cadet's fire story (William tries to save the five children as fast as he can by stuffing their remnants to one animatronic, which is later used for the Funtimes. Before the police arrive) > Fnaf2's Give Gifts. Give Life (The Puppet arrives and properly stuffs their bodies into five suits. Possibly because William saved her with his creation, the security puppet).
For a bastard that said he was horrified by what the animatronics became, H3nry certainly was avoiding the mirror in front of him for turning them into monsters. If you recalled the video you did on Book William, a lot it applied to H3nry's character way too well. He was repeatedly displayed as an abuser without the vagueness of dialogue or potential sprite debates (Control shocks). This guy knew that Charlie was locked outside by children, which oddly makes him the most likely suspect to kill her. The way he "saved' people was shown to be hideously violent, because he cared for nothing but their souls. I wonder if he tried to "save" Charlie with the mad science of immortality and discounted her body as a merely replaceable object. Or worse, he wanted to use her death to fuck William Afton (the OG Fredbear owner) over.

I still find it so funny that those small human heads from SL have a page but neither Mike Schmidt nor Michael Afton have one. The AR skins all have individual pages but Jeremy Fitzgerald, Fritz Smith, none of them have anything. How the shit did Springtrap from a cutscene get a single page but Phone Guy and Phone Dude didn’t? Scraptrap doesn’t even have a page either, instead images of him are used on Afton’s page that just talks about what he did through the series. And Springtrap’s page mentions his book appearances more than his impact on the games since his introduction! I mean, are they fucking kidding me? Even the magician and Little Joe toys get pages but somehow none of the MCI kids get pages, despite their names being revealed NUMEROUS TIMES in the franchise! I can’t even remember if regular Fredbear got a page but I doubt it since his only true appearance was a jumpscare.

This book would have been a good opportunity to hard confirm what should already be known to players to have everyone on the same playing field, as well as finalize and give consistency to some character designs, but instead, this thing looks like a kid opened InDesign/Publisher and filled it with googled images and whatever game elements they could partially remember off the top of their head. Except a kid wouldn't get such basic details about these characters wrong.
I don't know why this franchise hates the idea of continuity management so badly. It's only going to help them in the long run. At this point, and especially with a paid product that is meant to explain characters, they need to forget "uwu omg spoilers" and actually explain and describe the characters in the games and books. None of this "they could be, they might be, it seems like". They need to be making definitive statements on any data from 1-UCN. "This character IS, this character DID, these characters ARE RELATED", etc. If there are any characters they want kept "secret", they can have a chapter called "secret characters", and on the chapter splash page, they can have "Warning: Top Secret!" text and imagery, coupled with a brief statement of "Heads up! It's best if you play the games to see these characters before you read further!" That's all you can do, and that's all that's necessary.
Why should someone pay for a book that claims to be a source of information on the characters, and then it's filled with "I don't know, I guess this happened" on top of giving blatantly false information?
And for a children's book, I'd actually consult Scott or SW or whoever and add one additional fun characterization fact for each character that is not available in the games or books currently, so that a kid reading this can learn something new about each character that makes them love them more. "Freddy loves telling knock knock jokes the most when he's on stage." "Bonnie often has malfunctions with his ear movements." "Michael loves mint chocolate chip ice cream." Just random stuff that doesn't impact the story but makes the characters feel more like characters. Maybe those traits can come up as easter eggs in future games, maybe not. It doesn't matter. It's mainly for appeal and soul. When I was growing up, character encyclopedias had stuff like that in them all the time.
I'm glad they finally redesigned Henry, but I really wish they'd pay a brand new professional artist to do everything over and get all the designs unified, and the humans drawn by someone who knows how to give distinct, unique, fitting designs to human characters. New Henry, Vanessa, Gregory, and Elizabeth are solid enough designs. Everyone else feels like a background/filler character design. They don't need spiked belts and mohawks or anything like that, just more memorable face shapes and body builds, and distinct color schemes to their clothes.

You’re spot on. I completely agree that this book may finally be the straw that breaks the camels back for the community in terms of our tolerance of cryptic bullshit. It’s 2023, time to give the Crying Child a definitive name. Time to start officially confirming decade old theories that have been all but confirmed by Scott himself. Continuously building a mystery on top of the same foundation without ever clarifying where the story has developed is a recipe for disaster. I feel like Scott doesn’t know exactly how to transition from one era to the next, as though he is afraid of losing the fans’ interests if he finally confirms the story and puts it into position for the story to move forward in new and exciting ways. It’s been long enough of repeating the same story with a new coat of paint each time. I really thought Security Breach could be an awesome transition from old style FNAF into wherever it is they wanted to go with it. I still hope that this ends up being the case, but I have absolutely zero confidence in this happening because of shit like this encyclopedia being so poorly compiled and presented.

Something doesn't quite line up or the only headcanon I think works doesn't work with the plot? Simple: "my AU, my rules" applies. I still try to keep it as accurate as possible to known and undeniably canon lore like William Afton being the murderer and stuff, but it also lets me pretty much completely get rid of things that mess up the timeline (like Eleanor bs). I did put a comment similar to this on a different video by someone else covering the Character Encyclopedia as well, but since I've mentioned headcanons more in the comments here I might as well say why I bring it up a lot.

Honestly I feel like this book has the same problem FNAF is having right now and that is the fact that everything has to be a mystery. They can't just be upfront about anything and just say something that is true instead they have to be mysteries and everything has to be hidden so that FNAF fans discuss and theories. Now nothing wrong with having a game or franchise with a story that is hidden and that the player has to work in order to understand what's going on that is actually something I like about FNAF. However when even in the Encyclopedia has to be all secretive and not give any answers because it wants everything to be a mystery so fans will discuss and make theories it just ruins the story and honestly it ruins the enjoyment of the story and honestly has just made this franchise extremally tiring and frustrating.

    • @notrealnamenotatall2476
      @notrealnamenotatall2476  Год назад +6

I feel like Fnaf would benefit from taking a page from Bendy and just being a little more direct with the basic story elements and then building a mystery around those. Like, the wrong things are being kept secretive. You can't build a proper mystery when this many details are constantly left in the air, or when the game/book/ect is too afraid to accidentally give 'answers' that everything is kept in a constant state of limbo.
Basically Fnaf is sacrificing the story for the mystery, but a mystery is useless without a story.

And,of course, in FNAF's manner,we don't know if we can even trust that information! Literally everything else in the series seems to debunk that little thing mentioned. The fact that Henry's daughter's name is not mentioned in his pages, even though Charlie has her own section, makes it seem that those pages were written by different people. That is probably true for the whole book; there was likely a number of writers working on the book, and they were all given a different group of entries to write. And that strategy does not automatically mean a product will end up inconsistent, but it's clear that no one in the team peer reviewed each other's entries, which is essential in that type of work. There was no communication of which informations to include and which to leave out.
It's also clear that most entries focus on a single appearance of the character, but that's a bad decision. In a franchise with so many games and books, it's important to cross reference how the same character has been depicted in different stories. Henry's pages only mention the true ending of FNAF 6, even though the Silver Eyes trilogy expands so much on his character. Another thing lacking in this book is information of how the animatronics behave in the games that they appear in, and how to avoid them. This is supposed to be a character ENCYCLOPEDIA, meaning all information concerning each character must be mentioned.
