One of the neat things about One Piece is that the author has drawn inspiration from a diverse variety of sources from all over the world. From people to locations, literary works, movies, mythology and so on. So much of what Oda puts into the series is intentional, seemingly minor detail and subtle hints can lead to major plot reveals down the line. The series is a slow burn, but if you love a journey more than the destination, it's a rewarding one.

Sure, it can be gold and gems and the like, but it can also be family, friends, a special item, a place, etc. We don't know what the treasure that is One Piece is, but we know it's real and not just "the friends you made on the way" - word of God-a has said so. But yeah, it could be a lot of different things that aren't _just_ gold and money.
I really hope this video makes you to start this journey one day. Even if it's with the anime or manga. I really really advice you to do that before the end of the story. I just promise that you'll never regret it. We will all wait you on the land of Wano for sure

you should watch the first fight with zoro and then zoro vs king just to compare how far the animation has come, there not really any spoilers in that fight so you should be fine
There are a lot of references to real life pirates and characters from our pirate era in One Piece and there are characters inspired from real life people.... wait till you see Eminem lol
You've got such a long road ahead of you to find out what was up with the guy getting boiled, lol. You might be able to tell from the difference in animation quality vs early episodes, but that's pretty close to the end of what's been animated so far. My advice - don't rush to get there, take your time and enjoy every step. (But also, look up a guide to what's adapted from the manga and what isn't, and skip the anime-original filler episodes. EXCEPT G8, that's the arc right after Skypeia. It's the one filler arc that should be canon, and it's followed by Long Ring Long Land, the one canon arc that should be filler. 😜)

The video is very compact. One Piece fans would need spend 2 hours explaining you all the connections and meaning behind these scenes and the voice lines, just to scrape on the surface of the whole world & story of it. I got a somewhere deep into Star Wars, GoT and LotR but nothing is even close to One Piece. There are 100+ Characters would could get their own books and series. Also because Oda (the author) excepted that he wont live long enough to write/drawn his vision of OP, he started to cut it shorter. Its more like a summary what he gives to us. Its so sad.
that's crazy to think that 1000+ episodes is just a summary!! i agree that so far, everything is detailed, and on only 22 episodes, i've met so many characters already lol, and i can't wait to see more!

I would say 1000+ go by flying with One Piece, but if it to much for you or you start losing interest, you can always do a break between most arcs and be relative fine.
