Kanima played with 2 gems for 3 years. Recently had to upgrade to a big kid set and now is VERY worried about everyone else's gems.

That is because 2 gems is all you need for this class build to be good. If you go with more that is fine, but it ain't gonna add much since 2-gem transformation classes were designed to do less damage than then 11-gem classes, with the benefit of being easier to play, cheaper to build.
Also, like he said, you can do Akkan with lv7 gems. The problem is that if you try to get into pugs with that, the only people who will let you join are other lv7 gem andies and supports will avoid you. It is the reality of this game. If you have a static, sure, that might not be a problem. But if you don't, you got to be geared up to minimize gatekeeping.

lol why would I worried about poor people's gems when I'm the guy gatekeeping them. I could buy your whole roster level 10 gems if I wanted to. Besides, my 2 level 10 gem Legacy will probably make your characters look like they have no gems.

You definitely didn't start talking about gems mostly after having to upgrade your 2 gem setup.
