Sometimes people thumbs down bc of sound//video quality, so don't be too discouraged! . I think it's awesome either way, i have it on my Sean nós dancing playlist!
The best of the best played by the best of the best. Thank you. I am going to hum these 2 tunes every day so they will go into my head and l can then play them on my Harmonica. That is my winter goal.
I'm not a musician but I love Irish music and a horn pipe is a horn pipe and a reel is a reel and neither of them is a mad race to the finish. I bought one of these Bluetooth speakers just to listen to these great musicians and now I listen to everyone with it. A great yoke.
Well, there you go again - hornpipe heaven! Not run across The Galway before - lots of nice triplets in it. Got the whistle out and joined you for the Belfast! - thanks for doing it in my key!
Thank you Joe and Adele. I have learnt to play Margarets Waltz on my Harmonica from listening to and playing alongside both of you. Delighted with it. I am hoping that the Belfast and Galway hornpipe will go into my head if l listen enough to these marvellous renditions of yours. I find that if l can hum it l can eventually play it. I hope some day to have a musical partner to play along with and thus increase the musical pleasure. Once again thanks a mil. Mary
Hi Mary, Many thanks for your kind comment. It's great to hear the joy that the music is bringing you! Good wishes with your musical endeavours! We hope it brings you all that you wish for! Warm regards , from Joe and Adele.
You are my best Galway hornpipe teachers. Thanks for playing so perfectly. Will practice on the fiddle. I realize how beautiful the Belfast Hornpipe is and you two play it so perfectly.
This is such a great set! So good in fact that I could not help myself trying to play the Galway along with you on the octave mandolin. I decided to upload it on my channel. It was a fine learning experience playing along with you. I started learning the Belfast today -- but I think I might keep that one on the mandolin -- the C-part run in that tune would be a handful on the octave I think!
The Galway was a new aquaintance for me too although i have very very hazy memories of hearing John Sheahan playing it once in the past. The Belfast is the classic showoff piece, or was for Ivy Leaf with Jörgen going for UZI-runs on the old chanter : )
Hi Joe and Adele delighted to hear this. Can you tell me what key you are playing this in. I am trying to develop my ear in order to know the key on hearing a piece of Irish music. I would be very glad if you might have any tip or two so l could improve on this point. I play the Harmonica so all my instruments are different keys. Thanks so much for the music.
Hi favourite music, the hornpipes are in the key of D. We don't know of any particular way to develop the ear but the keys most commonly used in Irish tunes are D,G and A major and E,A and B minor. We hope this is of some help! Kind regards, Joe and Adele.
How can anyone not like this? Played with wonderful lift !
Thank you for the very kind comment gell! Good wishes from Joe and Adele.
