  • Labor MP Andrew Charlton says Opposition leader Peter Dutton had his “big chance” with his budget reply but did not announce “a single new dollar” for housing supply.
Mr Charlton says house prices have increased by 12 per cent in his electorate of Parramatta over the last 12 months.
“That’s why the government has announced $32 billion in new housing initiatives since we came to government,” Mr Charlton said.
“Compare that with the Opposition leader, who had his big chance in his budget reply, and he did not announce a single new dollar for housing supply.
“That’s a pretty extraordinary position for the Liberal Party to take at a time when everybody says that the problem is housing supply.”

As ive said many times, the two majors are as bad as each other. Australia doesnt have a very bright future, with any of these two majors.

Dutton is a dud in the Abbott mold. Has not a constructive idea in his head, and housing , as problematic as is, is as far as his intelligence can stretch, even then with a simplistic answer. He is satisfied with Australia being the commodity mine of the world., business as usual. Saves us doing anything, and taking any risks. Soon we will be all driving Chinese EV's because they will be made more efficient and cheaper than the combustion engine. Abbott ensured this by closing down the motor industry., a decision he made while he was eating an onion. He did not have enough foresight to subsidise the development of the electric technology, or make batteries even though blessed with the raw materials. As a consequence, as is the Liberal way China prospers. A new Chinese electric car manufacturer is now outselling Tesla, but the Australian Conservatives are in a frenzy against anything made in Australia. Meanwhile Dutton would sooner stick to fuel guzzling petrol engines because his grandfather had one.

Good. Housing will be solved by the government getting out of the way.
