Let’s see…a man takes a spot on a women’s volleyball team and that scholarship that was designated for that sport played by a woman. Yes the dude dressing in women face took the scholarship from a biological woman.
They legally can't do that, it is discriminatory. Also, having one player on your team who is much faster and stronger does not always make your team better, it depends how easy they are to work with.
To say “the issue is about safety” in sports is weird. It’s almost implied that you will get hurt in sports even to the point when you have to walk off the court.
Well, good for Brooke. There's got to be more to this story. The ends aren't meeting. They were roommates and teammates for "years". Why speak out now? Who encouraged this? As an employer, I would think long and hard about hiring her - I wouldn't trust her to run an copier.
Most teams don’t care. They are going about their business and winning games, while this statistically terrible team is busy bitching in court about their own teammate.
Ulterior motives like protecting women's sports? A lot of pressure was put on the players to keep quite. This player has the courage to speak up and you want to malign her? This is the reason women have been afraid to speak up, the haters.
Kinda weak the co-captain was the only one brave enough to discuss this. While others have complaints, they arent strong enough to discuss them? Alot of drama for a team not even in the top 100 ranking.
The scholarship issue being mentioned at the end is very telling. Less than 50 out of 500,000 are not taking away scholarships from anyone, if you didn't get the scholarship you wanted, I’m sorry your goal was not met, that sucks, but you didn't get chosen because you didn't rise high enough to the top in comparison to everyone else - and that's okay. These types of people strike me as having been raised in a strict perfectionist household where an A- is a failing grade while being a child of average intelligence. It is okay. You don't have to hit every single goal on the dot. You don't have to go to the college of your parent's dreams, you don't even have to go to college at all, it is good to have goals but if you don't reach all of them the way you expected that is okay - and it is nobody fault, not yours or anyone else’s, it is just the way things played out. It doesn't mean that your future was stolen from you, it just means it's not what you expected, you still have one and if you play your cards right it can be more fulfilling than you ever thought possible. Most people are average at what they do, that's why it's the average, there is no moral assignment to being just like everyone else. I was raised in a strict perfectionist household too, with heavy emphasis on academics. I didn't get the scholarship I wanted, either. It's okay, nobody took anything away that I truly deserved, I just wasn't the best. We don't all have to be, we can't all be the best, I’m still happy regardless.
Wow. Um, I don't believe anyone, except you, has brought up this red herring. The issue, for a SENIOR, isn't scholarships. It's the differences betwixt NCAA regs for women and men in this sport. I, frankly, was shocked when I learnt of them. But, sure, you're totally entitled to believe the issue is something no one said.
For all this saying it’s not fair then how has SDSU lost games this year? If it’s so unfair shouldn’t they be undefeated? If it’s so harmful shouldn’t more people on other team be getting hurt? Also she feels comfortable with her teammates who is transgender, living with her and other women, but she draws the line at playing sports? People say this is maddening but it’s a niche complex issue on a sport to sport basis. I didn’t see SJSU in the national championship game so it must not really have been a competitive advantage
The trans athlete has been shown to be non-impactful at winning this team games. Despite the claims of safety, this team was regularly getting absolutely blown out. While this is a niche issue and to my knowledge there may only be a few trans athletes in volleyball, the more they bring attention to this, the more likely that title 9 gets repealed and schools no longer have to offer women’s sports that don’t make money…which would include volleyball, amongst most other women’s sports. The people cheering for “girls safety” are about to watch girls sports get completely wiped out at the collegiate level.
🤔 ~ Regardless of what you believe, the woman being interviewed sounds deceptive to me. Who knows if they were really friends, or just were friendly when around each other. But if you say it’s all about safety, then why practice against men? Obviously the men can turn it down when practicing against a woman’s team, but still. And also why claim about all the bruises she gets, when that’s common when there’s no trans person on this team? So it just sounds a little iffy to me.
Lol.. nobody was watching this man. It's super hard to hide the subtle difference between a man and woman, even for trans people. Lol.. good for the teammate speaking out. What is fair is fair. Protect women sports!!!
Why not have a conversation about it so the uninformed women who are afraid can become better informed? Being a more talented athlete isn’t a reason to sue.
Who is uninformed? My first guess would be you. You don't seem to understand the physical advantage that a natal male has as a competitive athlete and the reason we have women's sports.
The conversations took place. This is a personal vendetta against a player, who is statistically the only known ranked player (lowly ranked at that) on one of the worst performing teams in the country.
This news story is filled with so much bias. Hinting that the player’s significant jumping and power advantage has no impact because the team’s record is not great. Oh, and the girl hasn’t been injured and bruising is common in D1. Give me a break.
Good for you for speaking up and bringing the lawsuit. Both my daughter and granddaughter played softball baseball. I am so glad they never had to play against boys who called themselves girls. It’s just not fair. No hating here against trans people it’s just girls sports are for girls, biological girls.
The safety concerns were unfounded. They took their claims to the NCAA and asked them to prove their claims. They had none. No proof and nothing to back up anything. There are safety concerns with all sports, and the trans athlete did not elevate any of those safety concerns.
It’s would still be considered a man but just wants to be looked at as something else. You make a person see you for who you want to be let alone who you are. This is a great debate that honestly will never be solved.
If instead of being born a pretty, biological women, as she is, if she had been born a biological male then that could have given her advantages over the other biological women in the sport, . That would be one way of having a unfair advantage.
I don’t know how people became so dumb down. Like the idea of trans people didn’t exist more than a decade ago but all of a sudden we give it more justification then we’ve given she just about any issue.
I played rollerderby, which is both fully inclusive and full-contact. This is a very challenging conversation, I'm sorry to say, but the level of athleticism is different, it just is. Not in every case, but it's notable when it is. Very challenging conversation.
It isn’t a challenging conversation. There is a significant difference between a trans athlete who must adhere to NCAA regulations and someone on your random roller derby team. Hormone blockers are extensive and must reduce levels to half of the average woman, which results in the trans athlete having the same physical capabilities as a non-athletic and non-trained biological female. THAT is the difference.
This report sounds completely biased. Saying you “pressed” her to reveal she’s never been injured to the point she’s had to stop playing implies she wasn’t being forthcoming in the first place which is clearly not the case. Also dismissing the injuries she did receive as “common” so the don’t matter to the issue is wild. The whole reporting of this is wild!!!
Good, I'm glad this lawsuit is moving forward. If she wins, this will set a precedent. Also, by allowing this male to compete against females. The university did protect the women.
The interviewer seems like she's trying to discredit her arguments. It doesn't matter if having a trans woman on the team doesn't make them the top team. Her points are valid and common sense even for liberals. This is another area, like with the CEO unaliving, where the media is just completely out of touch.
1 second into the video let me call the future, she wants the guy dressed like a girl off the all girl team because HE isnt a GIRL i know, its some solid rocket science, but call elon he can back this up.
Good for her. Trans still 1 X and 1 Y chromosone, meaning they are still men! You can't change that. This young gal should be listened to and supported!
By the way this is NOT OUTING someone. This is someone claiming to be a women who was born a man. Just because she identifies as a woman does not change her ge etic make-up in sports. They could seriously injure someone.
The fact we even need to have this conversation is maddening.
Exactly.

Why now?
Probably because of how negative she would be treated because of this.
Just read some of thse comments.
I wonder how other schools are handling this. It feels like one of those topics that falls under the category of 'things we think but don’t say’
Most teams don’t care. They are going about their business and winning games, while this statistically terrible team is busy bitching in court about their own teammate.
She knew for years and lived with this person, not agreeing with wha they did , but come on now why now lol its def ulterior motives involved.
Oh, the orwellian hate campaign against anyone who disagrees with biological males in women's sports.
Ulterior motives like protecting women's sports? A lot of pressure was put on the players to keep quite. This player has the courage to speak up and you want to malign her? This is the reason women have been afraid to speak up, the haters.
This is a non issue and this kid is so silly for creating one.
Kinda weak the co-captain was the only one brave enough to discuss this. While others have complaints, they arent strong enough to discuss them? Alot of drama for a team not even in the top 100 ranking.
I totally agree with her position on this.
Only 50, but a division one swimmy champ won, that's like 10 ,000 to one
Dis logic only makes seemingly makes sense on the surface
she's a senior and co-captain, she's not a walk-on player
It’s still 50 women being denied what they earned because men stole it from them. 1 is too many
For all this saying it’s not fair then how has SDSU lost games this year?
She’s the only one that should come out to speak about it, but they’ve had over a dozen teams forfeit against them?
🤔 ~ Regardless of what you believe, the woman being interviewed sounds deceptive to me. Who knows if they were really friends, or just were friendly when around each other. But if you say it’s all about safety, then why practice against men? Obviously the men can turn it down when practicing against a woman’s team, but still. And also why claim about all the bruises she gets, when that’s common when there’s no trans person on this team? So it just sounds a little iffy to me.
If you speak against biological males in women's sports, there is always a Orwellian Hate campaign against you, I hope you oppose that
If the dude loves volleyball...
Why not join the male's team ...
Because he knows he sucks against them so why not play on Easy Mode?
Outing someone like that could get them killed. I don’t feel bad for this girl.
The transgered person can hurt her and all the other biological women on that team
Then don’t invade women’s spaces
So she should put up with a man on her team? Because they man identifies as part of a minority group?
Lol.. nobody was watching this man. It's super hard to hide the subtle difference between a man and woman, even for trans people. Lol.. good for the teammate speaking out. What is fair is fair. Protect women sports!!!
they did bring it up with the college and ncaa... move along.
Who’s the field reporter? It’s like she’s discrediting the players statements
She doesn't even need to explain. This is crazy. Poor girl. 😢
Way to go, girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why not have a conversation about it so the uninformed women who are afraid can become better informed? Being a more talented athlete isn’t a reason to sue.
This is transphobia. Calling it anything else is nonsense.
I hope she wins her lawsuit and sets precedent. She’s not making this stuff up. Real safety concerns.
Not at all. - a volleyball player
The safety concerns were unfounded. They took their claims to the NCAA and asked them to prove their claims. They had none. No proof and nothing to back up anything. There are safety concerns with all sports, and the trans athlete did not elevate any of those safety concerns.
@@Godsbackhand7What was the outcome of the lawsuit?
Outed her? That couldn’t have been hard.
This is shameful. If the person has fully transitioned then they should be able to compete. There’s a lot of ignorance and bigotry on this board.
It’s would still be considered a man but just wants to be looked at as something else. You make a person see you for who you want to be let alone who you are. This is a great debate that honestly will never be solved.
They still would have the advantage of going through puberty as a male. That cannot be reversed.
Jealousy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The fact that some people see nothing wrong with this is mind blowing...
Slusser needs to be a better player?
If instead of being born a pretty, biological women, as she is, if she had been born a biological male then that could have given her advantages over the other biological women in the sport, . That would be one way of having a unfair advantage.
BRAVA for her!!!! She’s standing up for what’s right!!!! Shame on the reporter for trying to Villify her!!!!!
Good for you Brooke! Stand your ground for you and other women to have an equal playing grounds.
She shouldn't have outed her. I'm disgusted.
But is it fair to force this on the athletes, are their wishes to be utterly ignored.
You mean the guy with frank n beans?
I don’t know how people became so dumb down. Like the idea of trans people didn’t exist more than a decade ago but all of a sudden we give it more justification then we’ve given she just about any issue.
lol. There have been trans people for nearly 100 years. Talk about dumb…
Would have taken you 10 seconds to google this.
This news coverage is so biased.
Clearly bias reporting, as usual.
@2:50..."Trans Woman"?????
WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?
This report sounds completely biased. Saying you “pressed” her to reveal she’s never been injured to the point she’s had to stop playing implies she wasn’t being forthcoming in the first place which is clearly not the case. Also dismissing the injuries she did receive as “common” so the don’t matter to the issue is wild. The whole reporting of this is wild!!!
Good, I'm glad this lawsuit is moving forward. If she wins, this will set a precedent. Also, by allowing this male to compete against females. The university did protect the women.
This reporter is biased.
Glad more are speaking up about this. I cant afford groceries or rent, but hopefully highschool sports gets more attention from our politicians...
A+ seeing through the distraction
The interviewer seems like she's trying to discredit her arguments. It doesn't matter if having a trans woman on the team doesn't make them the top team. Her points are valid and common sense even for liberals. This is another area, like with the CEO unaliving, where the media is just completely out of touch.
She can't even say "my roommates and I" it's "me and my roommates".
Poor parenting for letting that become her habit.
Calm down grammar police.
People speak in different ways, down accent snobbery, what is this, posh bullies bully the middle class.
Haha the reporting or voice over clearly doesn't agree with the interviewee.
Yeah, this is something we should be worrying about 🙄
Oooo! Im from San Jose!
This is just common sense.
1 second into the video let me call the future, she wants the guy dressed like a girl off the all girl team because HE isnt a GIRL
i know, its some solid rocket science, but call elon he can back this up.
wow, call me jesus, i was right, shocker super new worthy.
This video is extremely BIAS and one sided, how about being objective when you present an argument?
Very mature of this young lady! Great job!
Yes, good lady.
I get why the rest of the team didn’t publicly speak. This reporter is doing everything she can to twist what this girl is speaking out about.
Good for her. Trans still 1 X and 1 Y chromosone, meaning they are still men! You can't change that. This young gal should be listened to and supported!
Why did she have out him? Was he that ashamed of himself to admit the truth?
Fifty out of five hundred thousand is a lot!!!
You go sister. More of us are with you than aren’t
Keep our girls safe!
Safe from what? Nobody is in danger of volleyballs. 😂
Sooooo she didn’t know this years ago?
She did. Seems personal, doesn’t it?
By the way this is NOT OUTING someone. This is someone claiming to be a women who was born a man. Just because she identifies as a woman does not change her ge etic make-up in sports. They could seriously injure someone.
Bad reporting, but courageous girl! Keep up the good fight to keep sports fair for the rest of us. Much love from California. ❤️
(Glad I’m not the only sane one in this state. 😊)
She is not out of line and she’s right. There are co-ed collegiate sports aren’t there?
I with you girl 😊
