Hot Take: Play features are better than accuracy, the older sets have REAL play features despite being inaccurate, the new sets are too scarred to do something inaccurate so they add stud shooters, Lego and all the reveiwers need to realize that lego is made for kids not critics
I agree tho I wouldn't say older sets were inaccurate. Sure, some were but I think they looked great for the most part but they were simpler. Play feature were awesome and sets were more like toys. No they use so many pieces. Back then they were literally "build different" lol.
Hot Take: 4+ sets are awesome for the target age group. 1. If my kid throws at 4+ AT-ST across the room, it’s almost always still together or takes 30 seconds to reassemble without directions. 2. The prints are usually super useful in MOCs. 3. The characters are usually cutesy but it’s nice to have a variety of figures. 4. They eventually get discounted pretty heavily making the price eventually reasonable.
I can get over helmet holes, but the oversized helmets of the stormtrooper are completely unacceptable especially when compared to the perfect design of the 2014 to 2018 stormtrooper helmets
Hot Take: Lego should include alternate builds instructions if you buy more than one battle pack. Buying two swamp speeders and getting a pretty descent build from the Lego company themselves would be nice. I don't know if they can afford another instruction sheet in each set though.
Hot Take: Lego Should re-release the identical (not remake nor make new renditions of the same vehicles, scenes, ect.) sets from the Rouge One line across 2016-2017 those are some of my favorite and the best sets from those years they are just all flawless and introducing them back into todays new lego fan base would be absolutely worth doing in my opinion.
Honestly I think Lego should do rereleases of older sets that people want but Lego has no plans of remaking. They could do that with individual sets or just straight up rerelease older waves too.
Hot take: Lego needs to stop with clone sets for like a wave or 2 like when's the last time we got a play scale Star destroyer? or a stormtrooper/rebel battlepack? or anything remotely related to endor (buildable figs not included)
Hot Take: the Animated Clone Style is by far the best. Mouthpiece is not outlined: Check (the new one is, and it looks to fat) Not to much Detail: Check Colored Arms. Check Helmetprint Quality is factually better than th new ones: Check (Just look at the Wolffe pack,Shocktrooper and 212th Helmet) black hips: Check And i dont unsterstand this people that say that Helmet holes are the BIG problem. (ofcoure they are not really great) but for me is the problem that lego decided to mix both Realistic and Animated Styles from 2013-2014 into one that makes them just bad. They want to be both Styles but fail to be either one of them. They look like the Fortnite Team designed them for their new lego game and not Lego.
Hot take: Every battle pack (well maybe not every one) should have one named character that’s just generic enough to fit in. Example: Captain Vaughn in the 332. Everyone was happy with Captain V despite being a named character
If I made KotOR battle packs, I'd have Roland Wann as the Republic faction commander with two regular soldiers and probably one of those silver/grey battle droids.
hot take: we need a rebel trooper battlepack. as much as I am a fan of the clone wars sets we have been getting. the rebels have been severely neglected.
Hot take: Clone trooper figures run the Lego Star Wars community. (And it's not a good thing.) We need more fans liking different genres of Star Wars as all this does is press Lego into making more and more prequel sets, when they might want to do other things. It seems noticeable that ever since 2020 Lego has been noticing trends in what sets sell and which ones don't. So, they release more sets that include stuff we wanted to see. Ex: 332 company battle pack, At-Te set, Clone vs droids battle pack, and venator (even if it was long overdue.) Most new, original/other sets are Ethier UCS sets, or mini display sets. I just wish that we could appreciate the other assets of Star Wars.
Hot Take: The UCS Ewok Village should not be a UCS set because it fits in with play sets more because it has too many play features and minfigures weren't very common in UCS sets at the time and if they did put them in the set it would be 1 or 2 but not like 10+
hot take: new clone printing is off, the new visors are narrower, probably to accomodate accesories, but i hate how it looks compared to the old clone wars and 2014 ones , also i think the breather part is too tall and not wide enough, also the only well proportionated clone wars clone trooper is the shock troopers, all of the others have the breather too wide, specially (and painfully) the wolfpack trooper i dont know if this is a hot take or even if its just me crying for something that is not that important but i really enjoy this section for some reason
We should get a 327th and 212 battle pack because those have had actual scenes and clones with names from there. We could also could use a set that has a republic attack shuttle with the delta squad.
Hot take (?): Lego should re-release The Old Republic sets and maybe make new ones. Also stop doing 501st or just clones in general at least for a single wave.
The only LEGO Star Wars sequel sets that I like is the Millennium Falcon (75257) because the design of it looks great, better than the 2015 version from The Force Awakens.
Hot take: stickers in normal sets aren’t that bad. Obviously I think sets like the ucs razor crest and ucs venator should not have stickers, but on normal sets I think it is okay. If Lego did give us all printed parts, they would make the sets more expensive, which would cause people to complain the same amount, if not more than they already do for stickers.
Hot Take: Flick fire missiles are better than stud shooters or even spring loaded shooters, simply because they go way too far and you loose them too easily.
Hot Take: Sets like the snub fighter or the spider robot thing should've never been created. The sets might've been good but there are so many better options.
Hot take: with new sets for Maul and Cal kestis lego still didn't give them the monkie kid hilt for the lightsabers only Saw Gerrara and Moff Gideon's guards have the monkie kid hilt pieces
Hot Take: Do you think Lego should try to make different or unique Lego sets and ships from other parts of the Star Wars Universe we have seen in shows like Bad Batch, Andor, or Mandalorian?
7:10 I understand that you don't like the 501st, but you can't just say something is overrated because you don't like it. The 501st was the legion with more screen time in the franchise and has some really great and loved characterd in it, thats I think the reason so many people like it. Really like the hot take videos, but people really don't understand what a hot take is, that it needs to be argumented, can't be writen in first person, etc.
I would agree with the 501st. They're cool but pretty overrated. A battle pack I'd love to see would be the 104th Battalion. Plo Koon has been my favorite Jedi since like 2000 so I'd love more of his clone unit in Lego
Hot take ucs sets should have way more figures for the price we pay good etc being the venator two figures was a joke ps. For the sake of it they could’ve at least tried to get an interior in there even if it was the hangar
Hot take: I think a lot of the stuff Lego Star Wars fans complain about is kinda dumb. I don’t see what the fuss about helmet holes is and even though i prefer old Stormtrooper helmets the new ones don’t look that bad, it’s not enough of a downgrade to warrant the reaction. It’s fine to dislike them but I just find it annoying and kinda silly when people complain about them like it’s the end of the world.

Hot take: The Lego 2 packs (tie interceptor vs fang fighter and etc) are the best idea for a set for starships, too have one good and bad ship for dogfights is great to me
One of my hotter takes just applies to Star Wars in general. I think Captain Rex and Ahsoka are cool, but as a characters I think they're both pretty overrated and their stans drive me crazy. And as for a LEGO take of mine, not sure how "hot" it is, but looking at all the Clone Wars 2008 sets compared to the SINGLE Clone Wars 2003 set is depressing. It may not be canon, but Clone Wars 2003 has such amazing material for potential sets. As sad as it is, it seems like sets based on legends material are becoming increasingly unlikely, but I'd love to see a resurgence.
hot take: people need to stop asking for named clones. everytime we finally get one everyone just complains how it isnt perfect and will nitpick anything. then they just get the custom anyways and tell you its always the better option.
Hot take: Buildable creatures (e.g. the Blurrg and Bantha) are more interesting and on-brand for Lego than moulded ones (e.g. Wampa and Rancor) and should be the norm for most creatures going forward.
Wow that's a great one. I'm thinking about how the 3-in-ones will have like a beautiful turtle made of bricks with a really creative build. Lego should do that with the creatures too (oh and same with the Jurassic Park sets. The dinosaurs are barely Lego)
Hot take: taste is a criminally underrated and, frankly, crucial aspect of engaging with LSW. Just like people’s taste in music, the sets people prefer can be basic, and I think that a ton of people have really basic taste EDIT: If people were more true to their preferences, a lot of retired sets/figures would be noticeably less expensive
hot take: disney releasing too many shows in a short period of time means lego doesn’t have time to give us nice sets on that show/movie. eg: andor, bad batch and mando s3
I don’t like the 501st battle pack either it’s was overpriced and inaccurate with the scale of the builds I just wish they made it idk like 10 or so bucks cheaper and made it minifig scale or made it the price of a normal one and removed the droids while also being minifig scale
Hot take: location builds should be far more represented in Lego sets. Most of the movies are set on planets and bases, not in dogfights in the sky. Or they could do what city does where it includes a smaller vehicle as a side build to a larger location based build.
Hot take: Lego shouldn’t make sets like a ucs Jedi temple or Dexter jester yet because if they make a set of everything, the sets will get stale and repetitive
Hot take: I feel like fans dont appreciate the potencial eras like the old republic or high republic have in lego form, I can think of 50 sets from the top of my head that could work as playsets or display models.
Hot Take: Play features are better than accuracy, the older sets have REAL play features despite being inaccurate, the new sets are too scarred to do something inaccurate so they add stud shooters, Lego and all the reveiwers need to realize that lego is made for kids not critics
that is straight facts
True Lego fans know the joy of finishing a new set and seeing all it's cool features and how they interact with all your other Lego sets.
That’s so true but also even the sets that compromised display ability for play features are still beloved sets to this day.
I agree tho I wouldn't say older sets were inaccurate. Sure, some were but I think they looked great for the most part but they were simpler. Play feature were awesome and sets were more like toys. No they use so many pieces. Back then they were literally "build different" lol.
Obviously wrong, because here we are as adults.

Lego downsizing sets is actually good cuz now i have more space to store things
Lego should do battle packs with 4 identical troopers instead of three identical and one unique
Lego should make an astromech and protocol droid battlepack
