Two things still amaze me: The flexibility and elasticity of the tarmac, and, despite all the swaying during the four months of it's lifespan, traffic was still allowed on the bridge right up to the moment of its collapse.
No one should have been, or transport on that bridge due to the weather conditions of that day, did the fella out there survive, well minus car n dog. 😮😮

That same storm system caused the Great Armistice Day storm in the Upper Midwest.
Should have done wind tunnel tests prior to construction when design was selected between two styles of decking.
After this, it was made mandatory that all bridges get wind tunnel tests during construction.
