  • Here is a collection of Japanese stone pathways I put together after a trip to Kanazawa, Japan. There are many tea houses and roji gardens throughout the city and surrounding areas that you can get a lot of ideas for different styles of Japanese gardens.

I love the bamboo fencing! Did you construct the fencing as well?

Hi there, I've only worked with pre-made bamboo fencing. This was definitely done by a craftsman.

Beautiful. Could you please tell me the meaning of a stone with string tied around it? I've seen it in quite a few gardens. Many thanks

Thank you. I think you might mean "Tome-ishi," or stopping-stone. It's a smaller stone usually tied with black twine blocking off a pathway at temples, tea houses or traditional Japanese gardens. It's a simple, do-no-enter sign.
