Welcome to Sg. There are cricket, soft ball players in SG. Back in the 60s when I was a kid, we don’t have the means to play these ball games, so we improvise using discarded tennis balls which we picked up and planks from woof crates as bats to play our own form of soft balls game and we call it “rounders” becos we need to run a whole round after hitting the ball and not be hit by the thrower who picks up the ball.

Singapore population is 5.9 millions. Our Singapore PM LHL has a constituency - Ang Mo Kio GRC; they conduct “Meet the People Session”. The Meet-the-People Sessions (MPS) is a series of one-to-one meetings between elected Members of Parliament (MPs) and their constituents in Singapore. The sessions are usually held once a week at a local constituency office staffed by partisan volunteers. Constituents visit their representative in the hope of resolving their various problems encountered in daily living.

People shouldn't confound the status of Hong Kong with that of Taiwan. The aren't in the same league. In Joint Declaration of UK and China, the sovereignty of Hong Kong transferred from UK to China in 1997 but According to the Treaty of Peace with Japan, signed in San Francisco by 48 nations in 1951, Japan only gave up the sovereignty over Taiwan and it never gave Taiwan to any other country. Ever since 1996 Taiwanese have elected their president and congress members every 4 years.
My family immigrated from Kinmen to Taiwan about 350 years ago and most of Taiwanese families have the same backgrounds as mine. This period was even before the times when most of American families immigrated from UK to America.
