The sound of the nib on the paper is so ASMR! I purchased the same pen last year from a shop (it was their last one) when I saw it was sold out everywhere. I love it for long journaling. Enjoy!
I have several Sailors and they are some of my favourite gold nibs, I actually like the stiffness and the light, agreable feedback. My favourite size is MF, but I also have in F (delicious smooth and even thin line) and even in M (in the 14K nib the M is not too broad so I like it) And of course I love the diversity of colours and styles ! The only thing I regret is that I tend to favour a cigar shape, but all the fun colours come more often in the Pro Gear than in the 1911 version. But that's not a big setback. I have the Manyo Nut and love it.
I was between this pen and the plum one. but went with the plum pen as I’m in a teal/turquoise mood that comes with the Yomogi ink. I am really enjoying the ink.
ohhhh pen envy!!! I so wanted that nuts pro gear, but it was sold out everywhere!!! Glad that you managed to score one for yourself. I love those ink colours too, good choices!! Pity about that nib though, hopefully you can sort it.
I had some issues with my Sailor Pro Gear Slim. I got the too hot habanero in a broad. It was actually quite scratchy, so I tinkered with the nib. It writes great now. I got my first pro gear the other day, and I had no problems with it whatsoever. I was a bit nervous because of the slim, but it's great!
Gorgeous pen! So happy I could help you get this dream pen as you helped me get one of my dream pens. The Dragon Palace is beatiful and writes so well.
Glad you got one you'd been eyeing! I too am not in love love with how my first pro gear slim writes (m nib) but it does seem to be getting better over time, so 🤷♀️. Let us know what you think after using it for awhile!
I feel similarly about my first pro gear, love the pen. But my writing experience felt questionable, it was also my first EF nib. Hoping to use it more and see if I grow into it.
If you eat cereal and when you're done with cereal tare the box apart and do long swipes on the rough inside part of the box with an empty pen and that will smoothe out the rough ness make sure its empty otherwise you'll get ink all over the place and it will smoothe out the nib and then make sure to brass shim the tines to make sure there's no paper left inside the tines... and always check on normal paper to see if its the right amount of rough ness that you like :)
@@KarynaLovesToPlan Yeah its like less rough than watercolor paper and just the right amount of rough to smoothe nibs I sometimes keep strips just to smoothe nibs on :)
I just got a Sailor pen too! A 1911S with EF nib in Stormy Sea. I wasn't going to, but I kept going back and looking at it, and then started calling it Soraya in my head. Once I named it, I had to get it. And it was on sale!
Oh my gosh Karyna, those colors are so freakin pretty. I am so glad you got the pen you have been wanting. I have been looking at some of the Shikiori inks but have not purchased any yet. Seeing those makes me have to use more of my will power not to order hehe. Enjoy the birthday goodies.
Love both those inks! I have that pen, it quickly became a daily carry (inked withDiamine Classic Green) and the yellow finials cheer me up every time I see them! With each of my Sailor pens the nibs have "relaxed" a bit after a few days use, but I must admit I prefer the 14k MF on my Manyo Nuts to the 21k F on my Gin Martini, which is so precise that I have to write a bit more slowly and carefully than I do with other pens. Congratulations on your purchase! I hope the nib softens up for you. I am still delighted by mine after six months use, really a great looking pen!
Happy to report that the Gin Martini has loosened up with use and now suits my hand beautifully, a glorious fine wet line. It doesn't leave the house much as the white gloss finish seems too vulnerable to scratching etc. for a pocket pen, but it is for sure my #1 nib. I use it with Ink Studio #650, which is suitably audacious yet refined! Interstingly I added one more 21k nib "for my birthday", a PGS Sounds Of Rain Kiri Same, which is a lovely matte violet with pink finials. That one goes into my shirt pocket every day alongside the Shirikase and I am very happy...after a year of use I hope the nib will match the Martini in its glory. Not for sale, sorry!
It's a beautiful pen. I also couldn't resist and got it too and the ink was a nice bonus, which I love too. A question for you: where do you sell your fountain pens? I might want to sell one of mine one day and I don't exactly know how or where to do it.
Sorry for the late reply. When selling, I sell through Instagram or posts on RUclips. Many people use Facebook groups, or r/penswap on Reddit, or VirtualPenShow on Instagram.
Yayyyyyy!!!!! NEW PEN 🖋️!!! 🎉🎊😄 I like you, have caved for the same pen… I also find it kind of scratchy. Maybe a medium nib would be a little smoother? Still such a beautiful pen!!! The two inks actually are a good combination together. Beautiful!! Thank you for this video!!
Been writing with it for a few days now and it is much better now. I did run it over some mesh and put the brass in between the tines and it seems better. But for the price of the pen, I shouldn’t have to do that!
I like both inks, but after sampling Harahara, I had to get a bottle. It's just the kind of purple I love. Those Manyo pens are all so pretty, and the Nuts is one of my favorites. I've promised myself no more Pro Gear Slims, as they are just too small for my liking. This vow has saved me a lot of money!
Haha I feel the same about the Pro Gear Slims. I won’t buy any more now - I am happy with Nuts and Christmas Pudding. And yes, Harahara is different and stunning! I don’t need a bottle… I don’t need a bottle… 😂
Ooh! You’re making me want to get the Pro Gear Slim I’ve been eyeing, the Koi. Soooo tempted after watching your video. I haven’t been much into muted colours but I did an ink swatch video of my stock of inks and they’re all beautifully bright and fun so I see another Shikiori in my future. That Harahara is gorgeous and, of all things…it looks so weighty and grounded-can inks be that? 🤪
@@KarynaLovesToPlan The Koi pen is a lovely colonial blueish grey. Don’t have a muted pen colour either, all bright, so I’m on the greyed-out train now. 😆
Thanks, Lady, i see clearly now why folks go nutty for this hobby. Pun not intended. Btw, i can really see why guy pens are more expensive - they only get one and it's in some shade of black.😏
You haven't seen some other "guy" collections (and I put that in quotations because there shouldn't be a guy pen or girl pen classification). I know some men who LOVE the very colourful pens. I mean, Drew Brown of Goulet Pens has this pen himself and it's not black.
Drew's great! My taste in pens, tho, shade closer to Brian's. (Heh-gotta stop watching these videos; my collection is more than i regularly use already.) Cheers!@@KarynaLovesToPlan
Congratulations on getting that pen, I hate when pens aren't perfect right out of the box. It's just so disappointing and disheartening. For me, a pen really has to work hard to redeem itself when it's "behaving naughty" like that.
Thanks Simone! The pen seems to be working quite well - I used it while on vacation and loved it. But yes, I hate when a pen as expensive as this isn't immediately perfect out of the box.
This pen is beautiful! I love the ink that comes with it.
It is gorgeous - perfect match!
Ahh so jealous! I’m now making it my life goal to find the manyo nuts. Literally my fav colour!
Such a great pen! Good luck with finding!

oh no.. this is the pen I have been drooling over.. can't wait to watch..!!
Thanks Marie!
Love those inks! I always wanted that pen or the Koi, but it is outside my price range. Enjoy them and Happy Birthday!
Thank you Karin! Yes, this pen was a bit of a splurge and I don’t think I would purchase another Sailor PGS because of the price.

A beautiful present. Looks awesome. At 02:20, its called collar. I must say that grip is very useful. 😊
Thank you, Dash! Had a brain fart 🤯
Beautiful pen.
New pen day, woohoo!!! Sailor is so awesome 😎👍 Happy birthday, hubby did well!!
Thank you! Hubby just asked me what pen I was wanting and I already bought this one so he said he would contribute! 😁

To have a baby smooth, rigid nib, get an M. The 14K M nib is quite rigid, smooth, and not too thick.
BTW the inks are beautiful, very 'japanese' 😊
I have four Sailor pens, this is the best one I love; perfect match with MF nib, colour and ink.
