      Did the ship strike a bridge part? I dunno. I used to live in South Jersey and know unless the ship did, we Taxpayers gotta eat it. But on the other hand, what about the hundreds of engineer bridge inspectors who are suppsed to signoff safe or not safe. Who's checking THEIR work?

    Why will they have to rebuild with federal money? Shouldn't the ship's insurance company pick up the tab for reconstruction?

      Feds sue the insurance company and ships owner and charter company.
      Feds lay out the money to get it repaired, while it takes 5 years or so
      in court to settle it all.

      Truckers are considered dangerous cargo haulers. They are not allowed in tunnels. Traveling in an RV with propane we used to follow the truck routes. How many bridges can one afford to build?

      Yup. Built in 1977. Due for replacement. It's definitely plausible. Trade centers also built same year ironically and were so laden w asbestos they took em down because the right way by dismantelling them it would take 25 yrs.

      It was a bridge built at a time where ships weren't this massive and the idea of something like this happening was never on anyones minds. If you look at modern bridges now that has ports nearby they have more safety put in to them just in case something like this happen for modern ships.
      So yeah everything we saw happen makes complete sense.

      @@bigmoneywaltTV that is how it works in every port in the US. A local pilot gets on the boat and guides the ship in and out of the harbors, because they are local experts for their port.
      For really big ships, they also bring on a docking pilot who docks the boat once it gets near the dock. All standard in every commercial port. Put the tin foil hat away.

    Corps of Engineers can operate without the permitting hassles, hire pre-authorized marine salvage contractors, have the bridge debris removed within 30-60 days and shipping traffic can resume into bay.

    I used to drive over that bridge a couple of times a week. I drove between Fall River,MA and Norfolk,VA vans, flatbeds, and drop decks.

      We need an aggressive PRO-URBANIST PRO-PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PRO-TRAIN politicians in power
      to get ANGRY AGAINST UNNECESSARY OVERSIZED SUVs & PICKUP TRUCKs made by the auto industry,
      and OUTLAW them, and who will get as many individual CAR drivers to TAKE PUBLIC TRAINS instead, to FREE up as MUCH ROAD SPACE for truckers as possible, who HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO DRIVE.
      But cuntservatives (Republicans) and centrists (Democrats) are only too busy attacking the poor, or migrants/immigrants,
      or attacking imaginary nonexistent Communists, Marxists, & Socialists, or attacking a tiny handful or innocent powerless Communists Marxists and Socialists. You need a GREEN like Dr Jill Stein or Communist or a Marxist or a Socialist in power if you want to see STRONG GOVERNMENT FIGHT TO MAXIMIZE JUSTICE, FAIRNESS, OPTIMIZE QUALITY OF LIFE for all EQUALLY, instead of just pandering to increase the wealth of who don't deserve it and already have too much of it: like auto industry executives.

    The supplies disruption wont effect just the warehouses, it will effect grocery, gas, and local restaurants as well. Surrounding areas pf which im sure have a hard time getting to good grocery sources already.

    Why weren’t the Bridge Supports Protected instead of being left Exposed to Ship Traffic as it most Clearly Shows?
    For such a Vital Transportation Route a Tunnel is more Suitable, not only Concerning Ship’s Movement but the Possibility of Destruction by a Hurricane should be Considered.

    The Fed's decided to pay for the bridge because now they can make plans to re build ASAP. if they sue the insurance company of the shipping company,it would take YEARS in court to even decide who exactly is at fault. 🤦‍♂️

    Don't worry you all we have another Port here in the U.S and it in Savanah Georgia. Truck drivers and ship pilots will have to make a longer drives to get there but it what we have for now. The port is not as big in Savanah but it will help for the time being.

    Total bummer all the way around. We are way dependent on Our arteries and if something goes wrong, it can be catastrophic. I live on the west coast, we have it pretty easy until we get the big one. When it hits we will probably lose every bridge in Portland because we're not even remotely ready

      @@kingofspades8411 the perspective of the video/camera makes it confusing. if you look at the radar track on the chart, you can clearly see what happened.
      Dropping anchor would never stop the ship in that situation, it was done to slow the ship to hopefully limit damage in a collision
      The momentum of that ship is enourmous for its weight, and not much is going to stop it but time/distance and an engine.
