Thank you Scott for all the great advice. Been watching your feed recently and it’s truly impressive and so useful in the field ! I have used Feisol for 6 years now and it is awesome. I did buy an RRS which is more sturdy and has more height but it also adds weight and not helpful for longer hikes at all, for me at least.
You can use a swing arm gimbal and still use it for landscape and most macro by buying a arca Swiss plate with a 90 degree rotated arca clamp. This changes the arca Swiss orientation from its normal lengthwise direction to side to side like you would need in a landscape camera setup. Done this for years and the plate is cheap.
For my human-sized lenses and camera, I hike with them on my backback strap using Peak Design's clip and their Lens Kit for snapping in two other lenses so I can swap them quickly. They have hip holster like the spider one too but I've not used it. Probably a lot longer hike that you are meaning when talking about carrying your 600 lens that way.
Thanks for another great and very useful video. I tried to get the Tomahawk on Amazon but it’s unavailable. Can you recommend an alternative similar brand? I live in Spain so don’t have B& H. Thanks
Peak design on my belt is how I carry my now small camera and lens had to get rid of my big camera and lenses due to and accident so I can't carry heavy stuff anymore or backpacks
Thanks a lot, I have a monopod maybe I’m gonna try to look for a wimberly and a spider holster too because a love to shoot flying birds… thank you Scott!
Yes and I can't say I used it. So I am not knocking the product, I just like the Spider system so much I told CC that I was not interested in any promotional material at that time because I was more than pleased with Spider. I am not an ambassador for either product, but Spider was nice enough to send me a few samples over the years.
Saludos desde Colombia. Muchas gracias, muy buenos tips🎉
Scott this a wonderful video and massively helped me decide on my setup approach. Thank you kindly for taking the time to share!
Glad it was helpful!

QR mounts on an ark plate is easier & more secure.
Thank you very much, I'm fairly new to bird photography and have been looking for this exact information....perfect timing!

Awesome video, Scott. You covered many shooting options and support needs. Love the Paella pod :)

No one else makes a similar product, I would go with the wimberly if you cant get this one
Perfect timing as I’m in the market for a gimbal, haven’t decided on either a cradle or side mount style.
Good luck
Excellent video and interesting stuff

Was the other holster company Cotton Carrier? If so, why did you not prefer it?

Handheld: Exactly how I shoot birds in flight with my 500f/4 and Black Rapid strap.
smart~!
Keep strong and carry the lense on
gets heavy after a while
What’s the ball head you have for the Tomahawk?
likely the robus which i really like. $399 dollars but I found that at around 200-250 you can get a decent ball head.
