    0:53, she is saying "two" (languages), not "too", she's bragging that she can speak French and English to Neuro.
    1:27, "I couldn't understand like, you know" (yes she is saying that pretty fast and the accent kind of blur the words)
    1:43, (british or american accent) "is the same for me who's like, you know, not first language english speaker" (=> basically mean she's ESL so the accent doesn't matter (to her))
    2:03, "as a VTuber"

    Saruei saying American and British accents are essentially the same is surprising. I've seen at least two dozen videos over the past 2-3 years featuring foreigners who are learning English, and they overwhelmingly say the "standard" American accent is much easier to understand. (Standard as in what you hear in most TV shows and movies.) If she had approximately equal exposure to both accents growing up, I suppose that could explain her stance. 🤔

      The euros are awful when it comes to speaking any language. My native language is Spanish and it is near-universally agreed that latam Spanish is far easier to understand than 'Proper Spanish' (from Spain). The same is true for U.S. English vs British English. Yes, you are correct.

      As a European, we've mostly had British accent listening tasks in school (20+ years ago). I still think the standard "U.S.-American" accent is easier to understand and, most importantly, adapt. It's also far more "common" in contemporary internet phenomena instead of, say, guys like Ricky Gervais. They're still kind of same-y, but I'd be more hard-pressed to understand some british bloke over your run-of-the-mill 'Murican.
      It's when you get to gutter tier trash such as "Tha Scots" or the infamous "Matthew Mcconaughey-ism" my brain just doesn't even bother trying to understand either.

    • @Takasemamoto

      I think what Saruei meant, is that in the context of the way Neuro is speaking french, it doesn't matter that you have an "american" or "british" accent, it's the "english-speaker" way of pronuncing the french words that is not that different from her perspective (it's debatable, but I can get why she would think that).
      Of course, when speaking english, the different accents are much more noticeable.

      @spk1121 Год назад +2

      @@Takasemamoto: Ah, good point. Speaking French with the wrong accent, whether U.S.-American or British, is "the same" level of poor pronunciation either way. Yeah, that might be what she meant.
