    I’ve just started making RUclips guitar covers and I’m very new to presets etc I was wondering what you’d recommend for me to purchase to get specific tones for my guitar ? For individual songs etc

    • @ampspedalspickups
      @ampspedalspickups  4 месяца назад

      I wish I could answer that question simply but it really depends how much time and effort you’re willing to spend obsessing about the tone…. Or do you just want a ballpark? Are you doing mixes from scratch or just playing on top of existing mixes?
      I think amphub is still a better subscription than tonehub. Tonehub to me is mix ready tones but geared towards people making mixes looking for unique mix ready tones crafted by pros. It’s kind of a specific subset of people. At least with amphub you’ve got a lot of amps fx and cabs to craft your own, kind of like a fractal unit or helix. None of this really matters towards getting specific tones, I’m just talking generally on tonehub vs amphub.
      If you join the discord it might be easier to ask questions and figure out a good approach without blowing a ton of $$$. Also I’m working on a video on how to clone your own tones so impressive timing someone would be asking this now 👌

      @@ampspedalspickups first off thank you for taking the time to reply so fast 😅 I’m currently just using GarageBand as my DAW and using already mixed drums vocals bass etc from RUclips converter and then playing along to it and uploading to my RUclips channel. Just looking into what’s best to go for on STL tones for just getting the tone for the guitar which I’ll be playing so it matches the same guitar parts on songs I’m covering.

       @Jake.Andrewsmusic Gotcha! The traditional approach would be to have a bunch of amps available, use your ears and experience to choose the best ones and then dial in the tones... with enough experience (years) this can definitely yield results.
      The method I'm going to do a video about is basically taking an EQ snapshot of the original guitar stems and then making your guitar/amp sound exactly like those. This way there's no guessing its 95-99% done. The best part about this method is that you can use any amp sim free or paid because the matching does the lifting.
      If you want to get started checkout ML Roots and Ignite Emissary, they're both free rock/metal amps. If you want to dip your toes into tonematched IRs then checkout JZIR, he is basically doing my cloning method as well and he also has videos doing it his way
      I know this is a lot of info but to recap... if you just want to clone an amp then free amp --> clone IR and you're done for the "amp sound".
      Where something like a STL Amphub subscription comes in handy is even if I clone a Nirvana tone I still need a chorus pedal... RATM song needs wah pedals etc etc and AmpHub has tons of pedals. Also if you're using a free rock/metal amp and trying to clone a john mayer tone you might want to use an amp that suits it a bit more, and having 40 amps to choose from is better than just one or two free ones etc. You don't "need" Amphub but the options are good.
      If you're literally just going to cover a bunch of slipknot, foo fighters, deftones etc then the free amps will do the trick with the matching stuff.
      But yeah its a big topic and ironically I'll do a video on this in the next week or two, too much to type haha

      @@ampspedalspickups thank you very much man really appreciate your time. I’ll possibly try out the amphub route for now and possibly just try the other methods you’re suggesting also.

    Would you say these tones are mix ready??

    • @ampspedalspickups
      @ampspedalspickups  4 месяца назад

      They’re more mix ready than amp faithful imo. They can sound a bit wonky playing in solo but sound better in a mix

      You need an “audio interface”. They plug into your computer via usb and you plug your guitar into the interface with a guitar cable

      @@ampspedalspickups ha ha, as a hardcore player myself who doesn't even own a single coil, I'd be more than happy to own a clean amp sim, if it sounds as good as advertised. I have a feeling you could do justice to it whenever you get to try it out 😉

    • @ampspedalspickups
      @ampspedalspickups  4 месяца назад

      Tonehub is packs and packs of captures
      Amphub is fully modelled amps
      I prefer amphub, more like using amps and a lot more latitude…. Tonehub would be better if you wanted an ultra specific sound that someone else has dialled in
