Nine episodes in and this has easily become one of my favorite podcasts. It's well researched, it's got really chill hangout vibes, and Ryan and Byron's passion for the rides really comes through.

I went on Ghost Rider quite a few times from 2008-2014ish and agree that it got more and more jerky and headache inducing as time passed.
I knew they re-tracked the ride in 2015, but didn’t realize they also removed the brake run. I went on Ghost Rider again in 2018 or 2019 and was shocked how much more intense it seemed. That brake run removal was definitely it haha. And it is so much smoother and more enjoyable since they redid it.

I've ridden a lot of wooden coasters in my life, but man, that thing COOKS in the best possible way and just absolutely doesn't let up. It's such a blast, I can't wait to go back! So excited to see you guys talk about it.

Happy to hear they updated the track haha
If you like the ghost town area, it's based off an actual ghost town near Barstow. Mr. Knott bought Calico Ghost Town in the 50s and fixed it up. As a kid, we would go camp there and visit the ghost town. They have shops, a train ride, live actors, a restaurant. At one point they did a ghost tour and a hanging show around Halloween but I'm not sure if they still do it.

I kind of feel there needs to be an alternative to the movie question for rides like this - Sometimes a ride is just a ride and it shouldn't be penalized because it doesn't have a story element. Maybe something that focuses for on the thrill element - like can you stop yourself from screaming. Or maybe something regarding the Lore of the ride - does it make you want to find out it's history.

As someone from the Midwest who moved to OC for college, was offered a free ticket to Knott's Berry Farm for part of a school trip, and promptly turned it down because I thought "Meh, I don't really feel like going berry picking this weekend," you are correct in assuming no one knows about this place outside Socal 😂

I like how you guys think the ride's Safety Video is from the 90's. Most of the video was filmed in 2016. The only portions of the video from the 90's is the POV footage and narrator spieling the safety instructions . The man in the video is Jeff Tucker, and the girl sitting next to him is his daughter. Jeff Tucker is one of the leaders of entertainment for all the seasonal events at Knotts, particularly Scary Farm. He is responsible for most of the content in the Hanging show.

I live in Michigan but I visited California to see my boyfriend and he and his mom took me to Knott's Berry Farm. It was my first ever theme park, and first time ever riding a rollercoaster. I refused to go on one that went upside down, that is, until my second visit and I went on Silver Bullet I FREAKING LOVED IT. I can't wait to go back next year!
My first coaster was Coast Rider which we dubbed 'baby coaster' because it was so little and tame, however I almost cried on it.
Ghost Rider was my first "real rollercoaster" and I had my eyes closed the entire time. It was awful, but in the best way possible.

I’m LOVING these new pods so much-esp as someone studying this industry for a masters!
Also would pay good money for Byron and Ryan to go out to Dollywood and ride the Lighting Rod (if they haven’t already) and see how it compares since it’s advertised as the fastest wooden coaster period lol (can confirm v fast and VERY GOOD)
That said tho PLEASE don’t ride with loose restraints on coasters and thrill rides!!! They are meant to be that tight for a REASON and if they’re not you’re courting disaster-you can never know when a ride will go down and where on the track you’ll be, two trains on Rip Ride Rocket got stuck in Orlando recently for an extended period with one being UPSIDE DOWN and the other being stuck in an ascent for over an hour.
I know this is an unpopular take and may make me a weenie but please follow posted safety instructions, your life is not worth a centimeter more of airtime!!

It's still wild to me that with the large amount of Comic Book themed rides that Amusement Parks do, that GhostRider doesn't seem to have any major incidents or even general confusion with the Marvel Character. I was surely expecting something to be brought up in this episode or in the comments regarding that. Like a fun fact about Marvel trying to get them to change the name but failing.

Here’s the problem with cedar fair and their lockers.
At Carowinds (owned by cedar fair) they have $5 90min lockers for fury 365 and copperhead strike that are basically mandatory. You can not take a phone, a wallet, a hat, NOTHING on these rides. And they are $5 and barely work most of the time. It took us 30 minutes to get one to work because they’re so broken. The attendant couldn’t get it. So she had to run across the park and get her manager to refund us to open a new one.
It can only be unlocked once too. So for 90mins if you want your moneys worth, you can’t have your phone or wallet.
The free lockers at universal are great. Because they are intended for someone riding just that one ride once.

My cousins and I used the strategy is going to the park before opening and hitting Ghostrider first. We brought cards and would play poker while sitting in front of the park gates, which we also did once on the loading dock of the Log Ride while we waited for them to troubleshoot and restart that ride.

Used to love this coaster as a kid. As an adult I need a backiotomy after. Still a fantastic wooden coaster. I do love seeing it in operation during Scary Farm.

I rode this for the first time when I was around 7 years old(during the early 2000s) and it was so rough that it took a whole pre-existing scab off of my elbow 🤣 I remember coming off confused about why I was bleeding, then realized the ride did it lol

I think the fans would like to see the Orca (aka the lost Ghostrider preshow)

We went to Knott's a lot when I was little but 2019 was the first time I went on Ghost Rider and it is definitely one of my favorite rides ever because of the noise alone 😂
