Thank you! I passed FM today and I had a scary experience similar to yours (marked 10 out of the first 15 questions). Thankfully, this video helped me prepare mentally for that, and I was able to overcome it. Thank you once again!
@@naif6127 I took 4 months, but it could definitely be condensed down to 2 months. I like that you use the ear headphones that are similar to the ones they give you at the testing center, I do this too. I try to mimic my study environment to the actual exam setting as much as possible, I take it so far as to even study using shitty pencils and unlined paper. Thanks a lot for your videos! I just passed FM and had a similar experience to you. Had to use the bathroom so badly but I literally didn't finished until I had 10 seconds left. No idea how I passed
Oh, they used to give you a paper result back then! That’s cool. Now you only see that a few minutes after the exams. I only have P and I am already tired. 7 exams to become an associate! That’s too many exams.
Hello, I just wanted to give you my appreciation and thanks for all your advice and mentoring I have received with your videos. I am not a mathematician by any means neither I work in the financial/insurance industry. My boss probably has never ever heard what an actuary is, meaning he does not know about me sitting for exams 😇. I do not know anyone to study with. I have passed today my first exam, FM and you have contribuited to my success, thank you Sr. I am already planning for Exam P, and I am going to have you on my side again with your videos, wisdom and advice. Thank your for your time and dedication.
hahahaha my exam went pretty much the same. i didnt have to go to the bathroom, but after the first 10ish questions, i was telling myself "whatever ill just retake this in 2 months". I had enough time to regain confidence and put myself through it all.
liverpooler1997 I want to but I'm "not suppose to study" during my summer internship, as stated by the company. I'll probably start studying soon but just at "leisurely" rate during summer haha. I'm going to most likely shoot for the next sitting, so 4 months from now.
oh thats weird... i thought companies would be open to students studying during internships. i think mfe is pretty hard... i've been skimming the readings and got really confused, so i'm starting at the beginning again and reading more carefully.
I passed SOA FM last month, I bring 3 calculators to the room (TI-30XB, TI BA II+, TI BA II+ professional). I plan to take CAS Exam-5 in 2024, skipping SOA P for later.
What do you think are the most important topics in exam FM? Congratulations on FM, btw!! I'm happy for you. I found your channel really helpful and I passed exam P partly thanked to you :). I'm gonna take FM in August. A lot of people said that exam FM was easier than P, but you make me re-consider that.
Trí Phạm Minh congrats on passing! You should only thank yourself since you put in the time and energy. I'm glad you find my videos helpful, though! I think the difficulty of exam fm highly depends on your background. I never took classes on the material for FM so it was pretty tough to teach my self everything for an exam in three months. What's most important is to really go through everything on the syllabus, thoroughly. You'll see pretty quickly what the heart of that exam is, from your studies.
Hi, i really would like to get your help (tutoring) for P and FM, but first would just love to get your advice on just prepping. I have a good foundation, but it was so way back that i wonder if i still have it....i studies Actuarial Science way back in Grad Skl and i just left it... and I'm thinking of picking it up again. So I'm planning to prep for Sept exams
urbandazz in theory it’s pretty easy. Get a study manual, I recommend ASM or Actex and start early! You need to actually learn the material bc you will be tested using questions that check your understanding. Once you get through the manual, I recommend getting a 30 day adapt trial. Get to the highest earned level that you can and be sure you can pass level 6 exams on every try. You’ll then be ready
Goodmorning! ive checked out Adapt and I'm definitely going to get it. Will a study manual be sufficient or would i need to get textbook also. Thanks a lot your tutorials are really helpful. Thanks
I didn't have to use the restroom when I took my exam until the very, very, very end where my body was literally screaming at me for not going, while I had 7 minutes left and 4 unseen questions remaining. I understand the frustration there, glad I was not alone in that. (did not pass, but trying again in fall :) )
On Coaching Actuaries Adapt, would you recommend setting the practice exams at a certain level and going up when necessary, or gaining an earned level and letting Adapt set the level for you?
I’d recommend letting adapt set the level. When you get closer to the exam, set it between 5-7 EL, since that is the level comparable to the actual exam. This is what I did when I used it. Good luck!
Thanks for the videos, they are really helpful. I just passed Exam P in November and now I am studying for Exam FM. Do you know if the ASM Manual 12th edition covers the new syllabus updated in effect for the June 2017 and later exams?

Hello to begin with thank you for all your video on actuarial science. I am pleased to say that I passed exam p because of your video. I am definitely interested in a tutor for exam fm!! And I would be blessed if it was you. Let me know if you’re available!
I have a question - would you recommend working a job (an Actuary one, that is) while studying for these exams? Was wondering your thoughts on this. Thank you.
Do you think it's necessary to bring both ti30 and ba2plus to the exam fm? I am not sure they allow people to bring more than one calculator. And are you planning to take your third exam in this year? MLC or MFE
There were some comments saying about the change of exam fm being delayed. But from the soa website the syllabus for June seems not including the derivative markets. And I have a question about the asm manual , I am using the 11th edition which fits the old syllabus, do you think it's necessary to get a new edition which fits the new syllabus? And how long did you spend on going over all the asm manuals, did you complete all the questions on the book?
Yes, Take a look at the link given by the individual who mentioned the delay in syllabus change. I'm still a little confused about it to be honest... They shouldn't be changing it this late. I personally would contact the SOA via email and ask them whats going on.. thats just me. I went through most of ASM but i did skip content that wasn't mention on the syllabus. It took me around 6-8 weeks to go through ASM, if I remember correctly... I kinda rushed because I wanted to do practice problems.. For me the only way I can learn is by doing problems
Thank you for getting back to me! I'm hoping that the SOA's system would make the June Exam FM a little bit easier since it was the first try after the change of the syllabus. haha.
Is this test much much harder now than it was before? becuse they said starting June 2017 its gonna be significantly different..I fear that its gonna be hard as hell man :-(

Johnson Mupandawana well I have many more to go! I think it really comes down to how well you're doing on practice exams. For exam p you should try and score at least a 25 consistently to be ready IMO. Many people fail exams and still move on to be successful actuaries. Try not to be discouraged! Go back to the exam syllabus and study what you're still weak in. I really just try to master the syllabus material.
