I’m so glad you shared this today. I was at my local big box yesterday and found 3 of these in the clearance section…along with a ninebark. They all came home with me! Now to give them love and care.

I found one of these at Lowes in the clearance section 3 yrs ago (NEOhio). It did well until ths year when it looked AWFUL. I dug it up and put it in a pot with nice soil and gave it a "rejuvenation prune". In a week it looked great again! It is back in the ground next to a stunning purple lupine.

Thank you for your videos. I am also a fan of native plants and have you subscribed on both my accounts. I am finally a home owner and got a lot of ideas from your videos on what I am going to replace the non natives on my property with.

Thank you for sharing info about this plant. Adding it to my "want list".
It's hardy to zones 2 - 6 (and not 8 as you mentioned in the video).
Living in the 6b zone, plus the warming climate, makes me wonder how well it will do in my area.
Also, the deer probably will love it, because they devoured the pussy willow. Will need to protect the plant.
Adding it to my list anyway!

This is my first time seeing it-- thank you! I wonder if S. candida is a little bit less thirsty than other willows. Perhaps the salicylic a. content is higher as well(?) Thanks again for sharing :) 🌹

Thanks for the comment. I'm personally a little hesitant about using willows as a foundation plant since some species have a reputation for having invasive roots....
