Tried to do cam, heads and studs while I was turboing my cateye, broke a headstud like 4" deep in the block. Only time ive ever been 4" deep in anything and it cost me a LOT more money...
I have a white 1994 F250 reg cab 2wd with a 393w AFR165s lightning lower, explorer upper, 70mm TB, 93 Cobra MAF, Doug Thorley long tubes for a Lightning, 5.0 HO factory cam, 1.8 rockers, Lightning Seats, Alcoa factory wheels, a ZF-5 S42, 3.55 rear it was built for tq by a good friend of mine, it makes at least 450-500TQ and 350-400hp it's a very cool truck, very fun to drive, sounds great, feels like driving a huge 5.0 Mustang, it's what the 1st gen Lightning should have been, it tows like a dream, hauls stuff great, AC works. I couldn't ask for much more.
It's a aweet idea to get the weight off with the aluminum block LS1 and maybe fix the NV3500 problems...with the T-56. I kinda want to see the 706 heads on the LS1 to give the truck 15-20 more tq through the middle for 1500rpms where it'll help more than the sub 10hp peak for 500rpms at redline a set if 853/241 heads make, too bad you decided on the truck norris though instead of maybe something a little bigger with a tight LSA, it would take a custom grind honestly to tailor something to a 346ci the way Trk Nrs is for a 5.3, maybe a set if 1.8 rockers to go with it and an electric fan might gelp a little more?
YUP. Usually how my "projects" go. At least you can use your moms house/Garage. You have money to spend to fix these thing. TRY DOING ALL OF THAT OUTSIDE DURING WINTER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. Horrible. I sold my "project" & bought a new Camry instead.

This looks not unlike what I'm attempting to cobble together (or more likely apart) in my parents backyard but with the other kind. 1990 F-150 supercab packing a totally stock 302 and M5OD and a hot spun rod bearing along with the donor 1989 F-250 packing the only salvageable parts in the entire truck being a 300 i6 and ZF5. Extra parts I've found have included and Clifford 6=8 intake manifold and I think a hedman header. Then I got the idea that 300 HPs and 400 FT LBS would be pretty spectacular out of the big 6, I just haven't bothered the right engine builder yet into helping me figure out the full combo and swinging it into the good truck.
You wanna build a 300...why not just find a 351w, the ZF will bolt up, I have a 393w with AFR165s lightning lower, explorer upper, 70mm TB, Cobra MAF, long tubes, ect in my '94 reg cab 2wd F250 w/a ZF-5 it's an absolute beast, blows the tires off with a 3.55 through redline in 3rd dumping the clutch in 2nd, built very conservatively for tq, makes 450-500TQ and at least 350hp, gets 18-20 mpg hwy, it's difficult to recommend a 300 build because there isn't a performance cylinder head for them unless you want to weld Cleveland or LS heads together and make one.
Every car I've ever kept for a short time, I haven't had the exhaust come loose. Every car I've kept for a long time I've found that my exhaust clamps come loose and I end up welding them! I'm curious if your cars may have the same problem but you have a similar turnover rate haha

I have owned multiple Chevy V8 trucks/SUV’s and not one of them has ever ran correctly without multiple problems existing. My recent 6.0 swap in my 02 1500 Suburban was a nightmare. For anybody who says I don’t know what I’m doing, I have been doing this since I was 9 and I’m now in my late 20’s.
I re did my L59 in my extended cab on 33’s through 3.73 gears made 350rwhp. Have pretty much the same setup besides stock intake manifold, but with 80lb injectors and AFR heads.
I feel like I'm watching my own cluster fck. 99 RCSB 4.8 5spd step side blue. Was burning oil, coolant, and pulled the heads. The engine is sitting in my garage waiting for more attention, or a decision on more shenanigans. Needs heads and a cam, minimum, because I also found a broken lifter that hadn't flattened the cam yet.

Generally we run a max of 20s on them common ones are known as Simmons (I’m not a hella bogan so not sure who actually makes them) and usually low, the lowest part of your car has to be minimum 100mm from the ground. This things a little higher but it’s a lot bigger. It more matches our old hilux scene also known as lowlux’s

Tom please do not put the LS1 in the truck, go with a 6.0 because if you do a little research the 5.7 or more likely to break then the 5.3, put LQ9 or LQ4 engine in it

100% valve seals. Oil slips past the valve and sits on top of the piston. This is forced out when you first start the truck causing the smoke
