Goodness started nursing school 4 years ago and got sick had to take off but my school left out all ur clues , I was like a duh and trying to keep up and figure things out ,felt like I was left behind !! Watched all sorts of videos to help but had no idea where to find info specially care plans and gee we had that book and was never told to use it , no one had it out for heavens sakes I'd sit and cry ! Ur amazing and can't thanku enough , trying to jump ahead on sims also for when I start back to finish at 50 years old ! Ughh I don't like going in sims thrown in with no heads up of what is what !! Thanku for clearing up un- answered questions to emabarresed to ask ! Have to finish this , just have to , passed my classes and hesi exams with high scores , will be jumping back in with med surg 1 🥺😀

Super easy. I use a slightly different formula. Rate= Volume(mL)/ Time(Hr) X Drops Per minute/ 60 (min) I divide the top and bottom number, then multiply, then divide the top and bottom number again.

And your absolutely right about distractions. A lot of kids in my medic class would try and add the volume of the med to the volume of the infusion bag or something and mess it up

OMG! 😱 Please students if you have (1200mL/10h)x(10gtt/mL)x(1h/60min) CANCEL FIRST PLEEEEEZE!!!!! Remember: 10/10 = 1..............SO (1200/10)x(10/1)x(1/60) = 1200/60 = 120/6 = 20gtt/min (CANCELING FIRST works best for ALL these problems! 😃 (I’m a Math Prof who teaches Math to Nurses and don’t understand why you would make the fractions BIGGER not smaller? 🤔

500 mg is the medication order, but it is not what the question os asking for. The question is asking for how many gtts per minute, so we need the 250ml to get there. Hope this helps to clarify for you :) Thanks for being here, Naomi Johnson!

OMG! 😱 Please students if you have (1200mL/10h)x(10gtt/mL)x(1h/60min) CANCEL FIRST PLEEEEEZE!!!!! Remember: 10/10 = 1..............SO (1200/10)x(10/1)x(1/60) = 1200/60 = 120/6 = 20gtt/min (CANCELING FIRST works best for ALL these problems! 😃 (I’m a Math Prof who teaches Math to Nurses and don’t understand why you would make the fractions BIGGER not smaller? 🤔

Tips; if you are using microtubing, you don't need to do a long equation. Just divide the prescribe dose to hr.

For the 3rd question I would have thought that 500mg was the order and not the 250
500 mg is the medication order, but it is not what the question os asking for. The question is asking for how many gtts per minute, so we need the 250ml to get there. Hope this helps to clarify for you :) Thanks for being here, Naomi Johnson!
Just multiply the hrs by 60 and you get the total minutes of any amount of hrs
