  • This is a basic guide in order to assist new laser 4000 owners in rigging their boat. A video I could have done with when I first got my one! I hope it is up to scratch and if you have any questions or if your a more experience 4000 sailor please do comment to either put me right or seek advice!

JUST TO BE CLEAR: LASER HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN THE 4000 FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. THEY ARE NOW THEIR OWN COMPANY. PLEASE VISIT THE ROOSTER SITE FOR PARTS OR THE 4000 CLASS ASSOCIATION FOR GUIDANCE AND ADVICE. I CAN’T STRESS HOW HELPFUL THE PEOPLE AT THE ASSOCIATION ARE!

I always felt like the gennaker changed the whole complection of the boat.
It was always unbalanced without the kite up but once it's up especially in high winds it becomes a pussy cat.
I could literally take my hand off the tiller and it would continue planning at 20+knots.
    Epic dinghy.
Some of my deathbed memories were in the L4K in high winds.
    Enjoy it.
    Luv and Peace.

Thanks man. We love it. It just surfs so smoothly down waves with the kite up. That is when it’s not inverted!
