I really loved both The Measure and The Galaxy and the Ground Within! Thanks for the video, I'm inspired to go take a look at my reading list for the year so far and figure out my selections for all the different categories!
i much prefer the Autumn Equinox being in September because: 1. that's the actual equinox so makes my brain happy; 2. April and September have the same amount of days; 3. September is tricky for me so having something fun to look forward to will really help! i also feel like it could be helpful for people going back to school to have a reminder to read for fun in between
My favourite was Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb 🎉 and the last in the wayfarer series as well! My most disappointing was maybe under the whispering door by TJ Klune. Not because it was bad, it was still 3 stars, but because I liked the house in the cerulean sea sooo much more 😢😅
Ooo are you planning to read Assassin's Quest soon? I'm on the last chapter of House in the Cerulean Sea, should finish it today! I've really enjoyed it.
I always look forward to magical readathon, so I'm sad to have to wait longer. Also August is my month with time off from work. Which makes it great for relaxing and reading a lot. But I support you and this readathon wherever you take it. Also so excited for a newsletter!
I have so many I loved this year so far! At the top had to be The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett, The lies of Locke Lamora, and Never Die by Rob J Hayes. Most disappointing so far is Song of the Huntress by Lucy Holland.
Fave: Sword of Kaigen - chonk of a book but it pulled me right in. Least fave: I would say, Queen Takes Knights for a book that I wasn't really expecting to be good, The Mystery Guest for one that I was anticipating enjoying a bit more.
@@RyeMiArt Nooo, not yet got around to it but I was watching Regan - @Peruseproject last week and decided to jump in. That one is right at the top of my list! What did you think if you read it?
I included some of these in my tbr! 🥰 For my fave book, it’s a Spanish book called Donde todo brilla (Where all/everything shines. It was very touching, and went immediately to my top 10 fave books). For the most disappointing… My roommate is a vampire. Even the very little smut was not worth it 😂😂😂 *very happy for the orilium autumn equinox to be moved to september! ♥️✨♥️✨
Thank you for these recommendations. I’ve added pretty much all of them to my wish list and am looking forward to discovering some new authors. Favourite book of the year is a draw between Circe and The Eye of the World (which I’m only a quarter of the way through but loving so far). Worst book was Time Travellers Wife as it was such a let down and made me feel so uncomfortable in parts.
Loved, loved, loved Will of the Many. I will say, if you can, to wait closer until book two comes out, because if you are like me and almost everyone else I know who has read it, you will immediately want to read the next book.
Realising I am having a really mid year of reading! The Measure took me by surprise when I first read it a year ago and I really appreciated it. My favourite book I've read so far is If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio, and then my rereads were also highlights, but the rest were just ok. Better pick up some books that make me feel excited again ✨
My favorite so far is The Fifth Season, which I FINALLY got around to thanks to the spring readathon. Most disappointing has to be The Canopy Keepers. I loved the author's first book, Bacchanal, but her other books haven't quite hit the mark for me.
@@somuch_kat I put it off for so long, but I'm so glad a prompt (read an author who blurbed last five star read) got me to read it! Now I just have to get to the sequels...
Hmmm, best book is either Jade War or Will of the Many. Or Age of Myth (that one might be an honorable mention). Most disappointing books are American Gods (I love Gaiman but this one didn't have the same kind of whimsy as I'm use to from his writing) and Strange the Dreamer (went from a cool exploration of a lost civilization to instant love, no thank you).
Well, since you said that extra Please...my favorite book so far is You Like It Darker- stories by Stephen King. I got Libby in Jan so I've mostly been rereading old favorites. Happy hibernating, G!
The Will of the Many is so good. that was my first book I read this year. My moat disappointing book was Black Tongue Thief. I also decided it was time to read the Of Blood and Bone trilogy by John Gwynne. He's definitely my favorite author.
I love love the Will of the Many but i don't think it that similar to the Name of the Wind 😅 and i know how bad it can be to go into a book with wrong expectations so please just go to enjoy it, i really hope you love it too 😊
My favourite so far is The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë which I read all the way back in January. My most disappointing was The Seeker by S.G MacLean, the first in a historical fiction series I was really hoping would spark a new obsession for a series I could get my teeth into but it was so boring.
Thanks for sharing all your thoughts! My fsvourite book so far has been Yellowface by Rebecca Kuang, close second is also pet (after hearing everyone rave about how weird it is... it wasnt quite weird enough for me :D) Disappointing book would be Honey Witch by Sydney Shields. Just not the cozy vibes I expected. Like... at all.
I just finished Akwaeke Emezi's Freshwater and it was a wild ride. Might be worth a try even though you didn't get on with Pet? I'm planning to read Pet soon. I've got The Honey Witch on pre-order thinking it would be nice and cosy... should I cancel?! 😅
@@somuch_kat Oh, I liked Pet! Just not as much as I had hoped :) So thanks for your recommendation, will check it out. And for Honey Witch... Its not a cottagecore cozy book, no. It has cozy elements yes, but not like... Brewing tea and being (somewhat) content and in love or something, more like honey and a cottage plays a role but also the world is ending and everyone is hurt and lonely.
I also loved The Atlas Six but was disappointed by Alone With You in the Ether & Masters of Death, and I definitely recommend giving One for My Enemy a go. I read it right after Masters of Death (which, out of the two, is the one I thought I'd love) so I was prepared to be disappointed again but ended up giving it 5 stars!!
So far my favorite book of the year has been a biography, The Six by Loren Grusch. It's about the first six american female astronauts. I really like space history. My most disappointing has been The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz. I liked the premise more than the execution.
Most dissapointing: the cassandra complex. It was going so well, but the ending wasn't for me. I get it, but I don't like it. Favourite: the Kate Daniels series. I read the first book a while back and liked it. I picked up the second and I was hooked.
The Tainted Cup is still holding strong for my favorite book of the year, Bunny is also up there though. Mirrored Heavens might be the most disappointing, it was the final book in a trilogy I was kinda hoping it would save the trilogy after the second book was a bit of a let down and it did not 🙂
My favourite book of the year so far is The First Bright Thing by J Dawson. It’s a beautiful historical fantasy about found family and magic and hope and circuses.
My fav book so far has been Bookshops & Bonedust, and my most disappointing was A Fate Inked in Blood, I just did not like it at all and I’m having a hard time finding any fantasy romance I like besides Fourth Wing 😂
Haven’t read much so far 😅 But I borrowed Call Me By Your Name from a friend and didn’t like it. I’d say it’s the one I dislike the most for now. (keeping my most anticipated read for September)
My favorite was Disability Intimacy edited by Alice Wong. My most disappointing read was Cascade Failure by L.M. Sagas. They compared it to Becky Chambers but the writing was awful! Also read The Expanse books, they're great.
My favourite was The Bookbinder of Oxford by Pip Williams. I simply love Pip Williams‘ characters and writing style. My disappointing book was When We Were Orphans by Kazuo Ishiguro. I’m not sure if it’s an issue of me or the book, but I felt like it could have been an interesting „unreliable narrator“ type of story, but ended up just being absurd and nonsensical.
I get very interested every time you talk about The measure...and then i immediately forget about it. And then you talk about it again. And I forget again. Vicious cycle 🤣 My favourites were I who have never known men and City of Nightmares, and whole Legends of the first empire series. I obviously can't pick just one book 😅 Least favourites definitely A fate inked in blood and A Tempest of tea (i was so disappointed) :/
My most pleasant 'I live this book so much was The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo. Biggest disappointment was The Night Tiger, also by Yangsze Choo, made more disappointing because The Fox Wife made me hopeful I'd found a new favorite author.
My favorites so far are One dark window and its sequel Two twisted crowns. My most disappointing is Yellowface, which I DNFed! I did not care for the storyline or main character at all!
I don't mind spetember generally, but this year specifically it is very annoying for me, because I travel for literally the whole month x.x short books and maybe a dropped career it is... (I did two in the spring equinox so...) I refuse to not participate generally I might even prefer september, simply because it is called autumn equinox, and I am absolutely allergic to people being happy and talking about autumn before my birthday which is at the end of August xD so
I've really loved A Storm of Swords, Disquiet Gods & Paladin's Hope this year. Most disappointing book was, sorry to say, The Will of the Many. Just like you I had really high expectations and it didn't quite meet them.
I haven't had a 5 star that's not a sequel yet this year but my favourite book is percy jackson and the last olympian by rick riordan. My most disappointing is to cage a god by Elizabeth May. There were things I loved about it, mainly the magic system and the world, but also so many things I hated about it.
The will of the many is one of my favourites of the year, but please note that the pacing is not the best and some parts drag quite a lot. Amazing ideas and captivating story, but the execution could have been better
I just finished The Will of the Many a few days ago and gave it 2 stars 🙈 such a disappointment for me, very intriguing story but the execution didn’t work for me at all 😢
I, too, am having a crisis that it's already halfway through the year...
It simply doesn’t not compute
A very secret society of irregular witches was my favorite this year and I am SO EXCITED for the next one!!
The first one was so nice and cozy!
I have this but haven't read it yet, will have to try and get to it soon based on these recommendations!
Favorite read so far is Light Bringer!! ✨ Most disappointing is The Soulmate Equation. 😬
Some desperate glory & light from uncommon stars are my two faves for this year so far ❤
I’ve got no problems with the dates changing for the readathon, however, what will it mean for the Adventure in Aeldia? Will the prompts just swap? ❤

So many of the recommendations in the video and the comments I have on my tbr! I'll have to get to Our Wives Under the Sea soon.
