I've had my Fl-18 for over 15 years and have no need for anything new or better. It does what it's supposed to do, (show me the bottom, the fish and my lure), and there is no desire for me to spend money to upgrade. I did buy a new quicker charging and longer running battery this season.
Video from 2017. I kept my eye on a seldom used FL18 in pawn shop last fall and stumbled on this video. Long story short and $200 later I brought it home. Tripled my perch hook/catch last winter. Enough machine for me.
@@nebraskaoutdoorsman6827 My Dad bought a FL8 ? in the late 90's. He used it a lot for crappies, perch and bluegill. I never got the knack of using his, but knew there had to be a reason he'd spend the money for one. Being an old fisherman born in 1927 he knew how to catch fish. He passed away in 2016 and when I asked about his Vexilar, my brother lay claim to it. Therefore I bought my own. Between it and a cheap little fish camera I can keep the Grandkids entertained. (sometimes hard to keep FL18 in my ice house though). I hope to convince Grandson to buy one, but really don't want to clean all the fish he will catch...
