REN (Welsh) - vocals, acoustic, electric, bass mostly
Romain Axisa (French) - vocals, acoustic, electric, bass mostly
Gorran Kendall (English) - vocals, acoustic, electtic, bass mostly
Glenn Chambers (Irish) - drums mostly
The Big Push formed in 2017. Initially being Ren, Romain and Gorran with Glenn joining later to play drums.
Gorran and Romain met busking, Romain and Ren then met through Facebook while Ren was trying to find a flat mate. They would all busk together and Glenn would sit in as drummer while also playing bass with another friend Rafa. They then decided to become a band and would take to the streets of Brighton and also created masterpieces of their own.
They played numerous gigs including a sold out tour of the U.K. and also released a 6 track EP called “Can Do Will Do”.
They busked together for the last time on 14th December 2022 and played their final gig at the Brighton Dome a short while later. Having to go on hiatus due in part to Ren moving to Canada for medical treatment and their lives going in different directions. Although they remain good friends and Ren and Romain have mentioned wanting to play together again.

This was filmed in December not long after Money Game 3, as Ren was in the UK at the time. The bar is Valentino's in Brighton and the 2 lovely lasses are also from Brighton and have their own youtube channels Sylvia Mwenzes and Scarlett Fae, video by Samuel Perry Falvey and Josh Stiles

I like everything Ren does, Jazz, Blues, Rap, Reggae, Ska, Rock, Ballads, storytelling. Back on 74 is the 90’s vibe. Ren loves music so he uses whatever he’s feeling.

CONNECTION? I’ve just watched the twins from Strawhats Dynasty, breakdown this track and around the 5.30 min mark they talk about how Ren masterfully blends in Message In A Bottle: During ‘Back on 74 ‘, REN is actually playing the Riff from ‘Message in a Bottle ‘! Very clever !

His band is "The Big Push'. You should definitely check out their busking session on the streets of Brighton, "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop". (The one with Ren in red suspenders.). It's brilliant!! Loved your reaction!

The song "Back on 74 by Jungle" (a British electronic music project) song was released in 2023..is a little bit faster than in Ren's retake.

It was newly created by Jungle, but this is straight up 70's pop-soul to a tee...💯🔥💞🍻 Message in a bottle was released late 1979 by The Police. Lead singer Sting is an obvious insperation to Ren.

Great reaction! With Ren, expect the unexpected. Ren is so versatile and loves all music genres, not everyone will love everything he does. A lot of people have said the scene reminds them of a jazz club.

I would expect that's one of Brighton's more expensive bars, it's beautifully decorated. Back to 74 is a song by Jungle, their take is a good bit faster, and one of the songwriters said it's about a mythical place, like a 74th Street somewhere you knew as a kid. Ren's verses make it about the year, 1974 was a very good year indeed for me but those aren't stories for random Renegades.

The Police first hit the scene in the mid to late 70s and Message in a Bottle is a big hit by them. Sting, the lead singer is a hero of Rens.
Back on 74 is by a contemporary artist named Jungle and was released in 2023 and was a massive hit for them. It is more of a dance track than Ren's groovy version though still extremely groovy. The official Jungle video of Back in 74 is a one shot dance video and it is unbelievable. You have to check that out.

Quin, I hope you know who Motowns great Smokey Robinson was/is. That's Retro Ren. That's Valentino's Bar in Brighton Beach UK. An Art Deco themed club. Back on 74 is a tune by Jungle, more of an EDM beat. Ren heard the beat they were using is from Message in a Bottle by the Police, so he remixed it as he does.
Appreciate u for clarifying & breaking that down for me & I do kno Smokey Robinson. Not really up to par on his music too much tho

Yes, he was in a band The Big Push, but to specify mention that “vibe type feeling” I would suggest checking out their “Wade in the Water/Nina Simone” cover first. Followed by “I Shot the Sherrif/Road to Zion/Hip-Hop” then maybe “Bongo Bong”

I think you can detect the Message In A Bottle riff Ren plays at about 1:45 into the mash-up before they revert back to Back on 74 - a bit of musical candy pointing out that by slowing down both songs their melodies converge beautifully. Dude is a musical savant.

epic reaction - just for reference , 1974 is a song by jungle (he shout out in the song), he then added his own rap and then finished with the police message in a bottle - also the basic bass tones of message in a bottle throughout

Check out Rens former band The Big Push two of my favorites are Bongo Bong (cover) and English Man In New York (cover) I think they are Rens best vocals so far. Only one other song his vocals were beautiful was Oh My Woman.

Ren flops? I can honestly say I have never heard anyone say that or write that and I have watched 100's of reaction videos over the last yr. I heard a few times he is overrated or they just don't like him for what ever reason, but never heard he flopped an attempt at doing something new. Ren has perfected his "trying something new" before he ever releases a video. That is their opinion but most just seem jealous to me.

I like this breakdown. Yeah, The Big Push is his band which is taking a little hiatus from one another, but check out their most recent post, heart attack which I think they in the fall and that’s the last all day played on the streets together.

Yeah, a sax would have fit in, along with some strings and horns and.. .. .. NO, a masterpiece by any type of artist is a masterpiece for a reason.. they know when it is complete (even when seemingly unfinished). He may put out another version/remix as he has done on other tracks and use a sax, but it will have a totally different vibe and not be a chillout groove as this one is
