Glad to see so many Stacey fans! I've always felt that her music was never really promoted properly over the years. Those 80's albums hold some really nice gems of songs. Maybe one day they will receive the proper attention that they deserve.
I remember this album and this was probably the most decent song on it but it took awhile for it to grow on me. I remember thinking that this album was by far her worse in terms of material and I saw that her mom said the same thing on her Unsung story. However, I think Stacy is one of the best child singers in history but didn't get the right promotion and material to really elevate her to were she deserved to be.
Carla Linton. Another one of my favorite Songs by Stacy Lattisaw is called. I'm Not The Same Girl. This is one of my favorite Old School Jams back in the day.
I am surprised by the disdain for this project, even from Stacy herself. A self-professed balladeer, her voice meshes with every song on the album, in particular the soaring slow numbers. This title track is a funky ditty with a spirited chorus one can't help but shout along with each listen. Maybe it's just a different groove than what people expected from Stacy, but the proclamation "I'm Not The Same Girl" was very apt coming from a then 18 year old songstress at a career and life crossroads.
I've wanted to listen to Stacey since I saw her on Unsung, and oddly enough they never covered this song, unless this is one of the ones she hated. I loved this song growing up because it didn't sound like the others, and I loved ''Nail it to the wall.' It's funny that her least favorite songs were my favorite. One man's trash...
Man, is this why Allen Payne had always been typecast as "Romeo" or a romantic leading man in most of movies? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Here he was only 16/17, but he didn't look like a teenager, despite he's cute as always. 😍😍😍😍😍 I don't understand about this plot. In the beginning until middle, he's flirting with her, but why does he & his pals suddenly run away from her until they're cornered? 😅😅😅😅😅
@@emckinney8816 They were definitely trying to make her sound popish and cross over. One of her cousins told us that they even wanted her to hide her blackness (like they did Mariah Carey) so she could appeal to broader white audience. Stacy's voice was just too great and soulful for pop and this song isn't that good but it was probably the best song from that album, which was HORRIBLE!!!
2023 and still listening
I'm so glad she didn't sell her soul for the industry, unlike so many others.
Loved the song's message. Helped me understand what it meant to be in a dead end relationship.❤

Michael Bryant before she left Atlantic and move to Motown
And after leaving Atlantic scored her only #1 hit at Motown ❤🎙️📻
Anybody realize Allen Payne is the guy stacy is singing too...
Love this Song & video
I just noticed that. He's a underrated actor. He should get more recognition in the movies.
WOW 😮 I’ve never seen this video before
I wore this record OUT when I was a kid. 28 yrs ago. Now I have the song on my ipod & occasionally play it on long drives.
A classic song, love this!
This was filmed in my old High School's gym.

ilhan Yalcintas truthfully she couldn't stand any songs on this album, it was a change but her collaboration with Michael Narada Walden was special.
You are so right ronald but the voice revives my memories I love you with my love I love you this song
Look at G-Money...Allen Payne!
The music sounds like the music for "King Holiday"
Yep!

Her mother said that this was a poorly produced album. Didn’t have any hits.
Allen Payne aka Gee Money aka Preston aka C.J. Payne
This album to me wasn't as solid as the others but cute video!
The Whitney Houston Rejects she called them.
Stacey said this was one of her worst albums.
Bruh this sounds like a PSA or some cheesy commercial. I see now why she cried having to record this. The song writer to the album was dumpster juice
Right and it was straight 80s

Another Romeo?
You mean Allen Payne here? If yes, I thought the same. He's quite often typecast as "Romeo" or romantic leading man in movies or series.
Stop letter boxing You make people way too thin
Thick Gurls
