    Aww that made me sad when you two had to part ways for a little bit. Much love to you both and thanks for sharing this xoxo. Also, I do have a quick question on working out. Do you suggest failure or going to near failure on the workouts? How and what do you do? Ty :)

    As a Native Hawaiian, I will say that we don't encourage people (with no ties to Hawai'i) to move here...simply because they're pricing us out. There's finite land and space. Hawai'i was illegally annexed into the U.S. so there's already a lot of negative attitudes towards colonization because we've had our language and culture taken away before. If we are forced to leave (which a lot are) because it's unaffordable, our culture and language can possibly die again over time. No Hawaiians = no Hawai'i. As more transplants move here, the less Hawaiian our islands become. Please consider that before moving... ask yourself how you can help support our communities instead of just taking away housing and resources from people whose family has lived here for many generations.
    That being said, I do appreciate that you guys are giving this a trial run instead of just outright moving here like a lot of other influencers. We're not generally big fans of social media influencers because they tend to exploit spots, disrespect sacred land and sites all for a pic/post, and not even try to learn a lick of our culture and history. They end up misinforming their followers about what it's really like to live here because they're not actually immersing themselves...They're in their own little bubble just going hiking and going to the beach daily...not actually contributing to our society here cuz they're all working remotely. And technically they're profiting off our land since they're essentially using Hawai'i's beauty for likes and subscribers if they only do social media for their jobs. It's a neo-colonization here. I'm glad you guys have other jobs and skills besides social media, but still. Please don't be like them.
    I will also add that car/van camping on O'ahu is ILLEGAL. Someone will likely call the cops on you because there are not enough campsites and resources to support camper van tourism. Some people assume they can just use the bathroom at the beach public restrooms not realizing that they lock up at certain times before dark. Even the homeless aren't allowed to car camp so it's wrong for tourists to have that right but our own homeless cannot. Please do research on how to respect our islands before encouraging ideas to others. Hope you have fun here. But I also hope you consider things from a Native Hawaiian or local perspective if you plan to stay here longer. Mahalo!

      thank u for saying that cuz, I'm Hawaiian too and we don't necessarily want haoles here. Thank you for saying what needs to be said . Hawaiians deserve their land back. Thank u for commenting this fr.

      @@gacha_hunny9552 We need our voices to be heard. I can't just sit back and watch people post all these vids while we are getting driven out. Their "day in the life" is NOT how locals live, it's how tourists and remote transplants live.

      True that! Not Hawaiian, but I was born and raised here. DON’T move here if you really have no business here.

      Curious how natives feel about visitors? Like just regular tourists coming to spend a vacation?

    • @808j
      @808j Год назад +2

      @@Narrowway7 that's perfectly fine to vacation here! Just be a respectful tourist. Don't do Airbnbs cuz they're most likely owned by people not from here and they're part of the housing crisis. Don't do illegal hikes or hike in rainy weather. Don't go to beaches without a lifeguard because surf conditions change daily and overconfident tourists end up needing rescues. Support local businesses. Don't waste our resources buying bulk in our Costco only to throw away the stuff you bought- donate to homeless if you can. Honestly I only get bugged when I see tourists in local spots because there are only a few of those left on Oahu where we can escape tourism and enjoy being with our families. But if I'm in places like Waikiki or Kailua I expect tourists to be there, so I'm not annoyed at all.

    From what I know, locals don't want turists to move to their islands, for some really good reasons. You should research before you actually move.

      By locals she means the people who are actually native to Hawai’i. It’s already over crowded and when rich people move out there it drives up the cost of living for people who were born and raised there. If someone is going to move out there they should definitely do their research and learn how they can be respectful to the people and the land. I am sure they have good intentions for moving out there and understand how lucky they are to have this opportunity.
