If only they had a "NO SCREW DRIVERS ALLOWED" sign on the property, this never would have happened.
😂
It must have been such a relief for those guys in the parking lot to see the cops show up in 15 seconds. Pretty rare.
@jimharrington6300 Like what?
Honestly those parking lot guys seem like they were gonna jump and beat up the perp
So are the cops wrong for being on time now?
@@mauryroth2155 why you assuming ?
@@usmantariq7997like hitting him with the patrol car and putting him in the hospital for some bone and brain therapy . I’m on the side of the police but I feel that shooting could be deemed unjustified as he was running away from officers when Initially shot.
Time to confiscate all screwdrivers across the nation
assault screwdrivers
@@optimisticcosmic FBI homicide data shows hammers and other blunt objects kill more people than all types of rifles combined per year. So called " assault rifles " are just a subcategory in all the rifles. Why aren't you calling for background checks, 10 day waiting periods and weight limits for hammers because they kill more every year than an AR15?
You're joking but ironically, you're right. If we did take all the screwdrivers, this guy would be alive. We need to have that attitude with guns if we're going to make progress against the rampant crime in the country...
If they want my screwdriver they are going to have to buy it back
@@corvidconfidential8826 Disarming good people doesn't make bad people harmless. It only creates more defenseless victims because the bad people become emboldened knowing their victims can't shoot back.
That is literally my favorite screwdriver.. no joke. Ive had it for years. Its a beast
Your gfs forehead is bigger than my torso.
Private citizens may have to defend themselves in dark places also. They need light just like any officer.
"Hey officer, I'm just looking for a screw"
What law enforcement has to put up with is incredible! The guy had some serious issues. It's sad that the results were as consequential as they were.
Bakersfield, Stockton and Oakland are some of the most dangerous cities in CA. 😮
Don’t forget Fresno & San Bernardino.
Tasar use was over optimistic but generally good action by the officers
A #3 Philips those are never used for real work. Glad everyone else was ok.
Just a local handyman, desperately looking to tighten some screws.
Don't do meth.
Stick to crack
Looks like meth made him bulletproof
Stay sober as possible so you don't have to go through & experience these kinds of tough situations
It is good to hear you are using the Yiddish vernacular. The word schmutz literally translated means “dirt”. There is schmutz in the sink. There is schmutz on my shirt. Glad they got their perp.
Keep that MOp on
One less crazy on the streets, a happy ending.
I think I’ve watched every single ASP video and John is right - the TASER ALMOST NEVER WORKS and more often than not IT ESCALATES conflicts. In this case it was just a non-factor but we’ve seen dozens where it makes the perp more violent or allows the perp to threaten the officers safety to the extent he has to use his firearm.
when the taser works, the situation doesn't go far enough to end up on this channel...
@@lyaz8426 good point perhaps there is a sampling bias. There have been a few when it works.
Good.
Meth and tazer= super power. For a minute he was bulletproof
Another case where there is a mental health problem
I have that screwdriver set
When taser works it works, but when taser not work its just another day of officers and their zipzaps, zipzaping onto oblivion.
I got a light, but it clips on off as i need it. Camping is nice to have a Light for JUST IN CASE>
That was intense
Dirt nap for the win.🏆
"Oh god" - Got nothing to do with these matters .
BPD in my opinion are like some of the best officers when it comes to de-escalation. Never came across an officer that lets the badge go to his head. All great officers
Should've fired a tranquilizer, like putting down a wild lion.
Why they didn’t use the technology named K9
Another example of FAFO
OH NO! So anyways...
From around 4:00 the officer fires what I counted to be around 10 rounds and the suspect was still going. I understand shot placement is key, the guy was running so his was probably hit from the side and not in vital organs, but this just shows you how resilient the human body actually is. I am going to guess the officer is firing 9mm?
He must of been on something he was running fast and covering distance. Took multiple shots kept going.
Damn he took all those bullets in his body like rubber pellets I’m damn sure he is on drugs !!!!!!
Why do so many officers use there taser a mile away like it's going to work
Something about the jolly way this guy presnts all this death.Noone finds that odd?
Is it a personality defect? If "friendly housmaker drowns kids" was a cultural phenomenon. Snap out of it!
Seems like beanbags would have been the real answer here early on.
Wonder whether alcohol was involved...hmm.
Good choice of weapon. Didn't work out too well
Those darn assault screwdrivers!
There were no winners here. Personally Id have preferred to have seen the police officer give him a love tap rather than shoot.
Ban assault screw drivers😂
HAD TO BE DONE👍
Completely disagree with those lethal rounds. He has not killed anyone and officers life is not in jeopardy, there was no reason for those shots, then tells him stop so he can shoot him some more 🕵️
officers should have suicide doors that that can open and just spring into action. maybe a little air pumped seat to give them a helping hand in the chase
Don’t know why the cops let him walk off so far in the beginning of the clip. That guy could have stabbed someone already
I think cops should’ve slowed down. Not sure if it’s a good shoot
That's what you get for acting any kind!
Food for thought, would a citizen in that city be charged if they shot exactly like this officer did?
Yes
It’s hard to say, why would a citizen be chasing someone down? Now, if that person was threatening you with a screwdriver and was within striking distance then defending themselves with lethal force would likely be ok. It’s just a challenge to make this scenario fit for the average citizen.
@@ActiveSelfProtection@ The only person on RUclips capable of making such an analysis would be the "Civil Rights Lawyer." (who's Pro 2@ as well...)
No, Aaron, I am the guy that lawyers call to testify in court about use of force, and to educate them on use of force. I am qualified to make that call.
Crazy us cops kill somebody for running away, insane
You obviously have never been in law enforcement.
@@stockae74 why would I, do I look like I want to punch my wife?
💪💪💪💪💪👮👮👮
4:04 - It sounds like the offender also said, “I’ve got a gun.” when the officer told him to show his hands.
😮
So sad; should've never have happened # BETTER-TRAINING
I am grateful when cops remove these mental cases from our society...WE CANT AFFORD care for what parent clearly FAILED.
That’s a really rough take in so many ways.
That’s what you call murder🤔🙄😑
Shooting a man who is running away?
We discussed that.
Are you Jewish?
Very unprofessional
Bakersfield, CA PD policy: every police command must be accompanied by at least one F-bomb, preferably many. (It is more effective that way). LOL!
Joking aside, I don't see why deadly force was needed at the time the 3rd officer started using it. That's different from the end, where the guy turned toward the officer brandishing a stabby object. The bar "fight" looked like it started with words and then it was the *other* guys who advanced on him, looking to start something physical. This guy maybe kicked the hornets nest (we don't know), but he didn't actually attack anyone, at least as shown on this video. He does have the right to defend himself, after all. I don't see where anyone actually saw this guy attempt to attack anyone with the screwdriver, except possibly in response to the officer firing at him.
"but he didn't actually attack anyone"
False. We see it right there. Assault does not require successfully injuring someone.
@@dafunkmonsterRight where? Provide a timestamp so I can go to what you are referring to.
Interesting; ik people root on both sides "yay he's dead and no longer a threat" n "could of have an illness or something"
But idk over 10 shots seems like you are definitely gonna kill him, you know maybe 2-4 shots? People bleed out pretty fast so a couple shots work but over 10 is a death sentence
How many is completely irrelevant the decision to shoot is the decision to kill, if your not trying to kill don't use your gun. In the moment you can't tell the difference between a knife and a screwdriver
@@victorygarden556 yea but mag dumping as a civilain is illegal though
"The guy was threatening my life, but I had already fired 10 shots, so I just had to stop and hope he didn't kill me" said the dead man.
There's no magic limit to the number of shots you can fire. If you fire 10 times and miss 10 times, and the guy is still coming after you, the threat still persists. If you fire 10 times and hit 10 times, and the guy is still coming after you, the threat still persists.
@dafunkmonster who the fuck dies to a guy who's been shot 10 times and only has a knife, if you do thats a skill issue.
Idk, maybe im a decent shot, but i've never had to dumpmag someone with a screwdriver. Usually, people go down by the 3rd or 4th
But again, im not going to be a cop. The weapon i have is not a small caliber, and needing to reload twice to down someone is not a reality for me.
But yea, as usual, the guy needs to be gunned down. I just hope that if you ever acquire a mental illness, you receive help, unlike a lot of other people.
Murdered for nothing.
Cop number 3....needs training.
....and to go to jail for manslaughter. Perhaps.
Dude was super high on something hard.
The distance he ran and the number of rounds he took before he even began to react… def out of his mind, that’s rough man.
Theres videos on here where the perp took 12 rounds and got back up putting a cop in a headlock. And another where it took 21 rounds to put someone down. People are crazy when they are determined.
@@richh5824still would’ve dropped an average sized person and you could clearly see he was taking those rounds like he was wearing Kevlar before that pain kicked in😂😂

I've fought with a screwdriver. But, it's usually when I have to use a flathead that keeps slipping off the screw.
I know the feeling all too well brother.
Those screws are tough fighters every time.

Yep, happens to me almost every day. Flathead screwdriver is the world's worst design. Personally, I prefer the vodka screwdriver.
Try the Robertson from Canada. Best screw in the world!
His cardio was on point.
Meth fueled cardio
Yea that wasn’t cardio. That was a super heavy, hardcore dose of meth
The trusty taser... works 30% of the time, every time.
Whatever drug he was on gave him the energy to be willing to get into a fight with multiple guys, run a mile or two away from the police, and eat bullets. Insane!
Meth is a wild ride
@@user-te7wc7lh4r I can believe it, if it caused him to do all of that.
@@nurseqtips1610 I've not tried it but the nut cases around here are all hopped up on it.

I always think its funny when the police gets out of the car and runs after the guy when they could just get back in the car and drive.
I attacked the police with a (original) Super Soaker 45. Well they submitted, and bought me a ice cream bar. I miss the 90’s 😂
He‘s screwed 🤣
He screwed him self.
Those cops be like "Don't forget where we parked"
Wow he took a lot of rounds
Those guys outside of the establishment came after him because he scratched the car with his screwdriver... You can see him put the screwdriver against the car about hip height and they must have heard it and came after him knowing what he was doing...
Infamous words: The taser was ineffective.
Anyone notice the police officer had a "high" capacity magazine here in California? Oh just applies to us peons not law enforcement
12 Shots wasn't needed too stop Him, the Officer had overreacted. Sure save your Life if it's neccesary but a shot in the leg
would be sufficient in this Situation.
The fact there was plushie in the dash was adorable. I wonder if they keep it in case they interact with a young child.
Most likely or it’s from his child
Why was I not surprised this was in California?

@@nonyabusinessincI've had some exceptionally bad days. Never tried to stab someone
@@nonyabusinessincI felt the same. To feel happy about such an event only reveals a primitive nature.
@@nonyabusinessinc You're right, the cops should have called a social worker to chase the guy down and ask him nicely to stop being so stabby.
Mike being kicked out of the police car made me laugh out loud!
This was a weak ass cowardly shooting in my book.
This was a let down. When you said the ride along got into it. I thought he would have got out and tackled the suspect or brought the cruiser to the police 😂 he didn't get any action lol
Lackluster 9mm Stopping Power....
wait what?
stopping powers a myth. it was bad shot placement, and the guy was high af on something. a .40 or .45 shot in the exact same place wouldnt have helped much more.
I was in Bakersfield CA June 9 to see Asleep at the Wheel at Buck Owens Crystal Palace!!
MUST WATCH 1st 10 SECONDS IN SLOW SPEED (0.25x). It’s like a scene right out of F&L in LA! 😅
being a police explorer in the 80s was much more fun ... during the 240 hours or so that I rode along, I saw a fatality, several medical incidents, countless arrests and citations, and even went hands on when the officer I was with got out and was attacked by a drunk man in a parking lot. The man's wife also went to the officer... I pushed her away, then kicked the guy's knees from behind, allowing the officer to put him down and cuff him. Guy turned out to be a local radio celebrity, and even said how he got to see the inside of the jail over the weekend. When they came to my high school to depose me, the defense kept saying there were two officers on scene. The lawyers and detectives brought me in a room and asked me "are you a sworn officer?" and I said "no". That was the extent of my involvement in the prosecution.
Did you stick with it?
@@magenlin nah ... I went to the military instead and did 30 years of service
As high schoolers, we all went to the YMCA for Judo training; our teacher was well-known consultant to Hollywood regarding Judo. He was a wealthy Sensai with a fancy convertible car with an aftermarket stereo. One night, when he was going to his car, he found some youngsters using a screwdriver to steal his car stereo. He accosted them, and the 13-year-old stabbed him repeatedly with a screwdriver. The most decorated black belt died of his wounds.
Has anyone here been on a ride along? Any cool/interested stories from it?
I have!
the taser could have been efective if the cop actualy hit him with it lol
One could say he screwed up?
Seems like a pretty big stretch to say that the officer was justified to know that this guy was a deadly threat to the community when it's not even clear whether he tried to stab anyone.
Doesn't matter a screw driver to the liver is still very deadly
Oh shit. My hometown 😂 but really 😢😢 that place a shithole
Bakersfield actually has a pretty high rate of officer involved shootings. At one point unarmed officer shootings were the highest in CA, nowadays it is a lot better. All of my police interactions have been positive honestly. I know they have changed how they do things a good amount. They’re good guys but damn do they get a lot of work. That place is crazy as hell.
Poor officer he sounded like he just wanted to have a smooth day and this happens. If you want an example of the worst day for a young police explorer google : Officer May Murder East Palo Alto, CA. The poor kid witnessed everythibg and had to call it in.
shame the police cant "nudge" running perps with the car vs having to run them down and risk greater harm in many ways.
A key point to this video is the role/mission of the different titles and their inherent TTPs. Citizens, all too often, think their mind set and "would do" mentality are applicable to law enforcement or even military....couldn't be further from it. We do not operate the same way. We cannot operate the same way. If that's the expectation from anyone, then their would not be a need for law enforcement and military and we would just deal with these situations with the citizens "would do" mentality.
One cop running a marathon, where's his partner w/ the CAR?? Runner got out passenger side, Why is he not cutting screw-driver boy off?
