The reason it’s called Lower Austria is that it has the lowest elevation, the others are higher up by elevation
Also the reason why Tyrol is divided, is that they used to own land in Italy that is now known as South Tyrol
South Tyrol is almost as south as lower Austria

same with 2 saxonies in germany. lesser saxony is in north but has lowest elevation while saxony is in south and has highest elevation
The reason for Tyrol being separated it's because in ww1 where Austria (Hungary) lost the war they lost also lost most of Tyrol, Italy has the most of Tyrol and is north and now is called South Tyrol which is most Germanic
Pretty sure they still speak german in the part that's owned by italy

Lmao as an Austrian this is too funny, since Vorarlberg is completely different than the rest of Austria, they even talk more like Swiss people and are often forgot about… and it’s pronounced like “fo raw rel bearg” or “berg” if in English!
Lower means that the level above the sea is lower than elsewhere, not that it's lower on the map. Same with upper or synonyms, but upper than lower.
(I'm Polish, we have lower silesia and upper, and yes, lower is more north than lower. Trust me, it's complicated.)

1. It's an island country

3. 81 provinces (or unless Simulated goes for the one with the 19 regions of the Philippines which isn't exactly a "Battle Royale" but good enough for like a 3 minute video)

Karabakh is a region of Armenia/Azerbaijan so it makes more sence than Lower Austria 5:45
Nakchivan is actually an enclave a land that is broken away from that country but it belongs to that country even though it's miles away from it like Kaliningrad

Upper Austria/Lower Austria, and other such locations that use the terms "upper" and "lower," have nothing to do with north/south, but elevation. Lower Austria is at a lower elevation than Upper Austria. Whether it's north, south, east, or west is irrelevant.
