I agree with the likely futility of a 25 year plan. Too much change happens in the world ad in your life to see that far forward (Apple barely existed when Mr Cook was in MBA school). However, there is definitely value in a shorter term plan. As for the long term, having ethical standards, a sense of what you are capable of, a willingness to stretch beyond what you think you are capable of, and a willingness to adapt is really all you can do. Yes, be prepared to take advantage of good fortune.
But the thing is. Those who do write a 25 year plan, or who do have a vision for their lives. Usually do succeed. Their plan might be useless, but it's not. Never seen a not so ambitious guy planning for his life.
I think there isn’t a perfect career goal or plan that can fit for us. Because life is so versatile and diverse, it is not a place where you can be one thing and be that for rest of your life. The goal for me to be financially free, have my freedom of time too. And be prepare for that. Not like I will be a doctor or a Software Engineer.
Learn about who you are and how the world works. When you understand both, your intuition will pull you towards something that you enjoy and society values, your North Star. Read books (The Alchemist). Talk to mentors. No mentors? They are all over the internet. Short on time? Pick a direction that is generic but valuable, like computer science/biology/business/engineering. You can take these degrees in so many unique directions that you would never expect. For example, a biology degree could get you a job one day as a data scientist in a lab. Just start somewhere and the path will become clear as you become wiser.

I'll try to reason with you but it seems hopeless with that kind of thinking. Apple, and I'm sure most tech companies are not run based off hierarchy but rather they let the best ideas win. It is the way steve ran the company and it's foolish to think that everything apple did while he was ceo credits back to him.
you are so right and now look, apple iPhones are simply designed cheap and trashy. they don't care about the product. all they care about is charging a shit ton of money for a pos phone. they don't care about the product or company, they only care about their pockets and making money. Steve's phones were not over $300 and were the best phones ever made basically now look at them for some $1200. so dumb

I know (sad crying face) I loved apple when it first came out (the iPhones) I loved and followed all his work etc and the iPhones back then were amazing and so much better than now. I bought the XR bc I wanted one and it is trash compared to the 3gs 4 etc. they took what he made ( his passion sweat heart, everything apple stood for that he created he cared about his products me made etc) to now they are just a fancier more expensive off brand to an android. so disappointing and makes me mad all the time what they did to this company.
