This is also a good point they said: they didn't want a developmental program that trained wrestlers, but wanted a developmental program to train actors and entertainers. And that's what they got now
Toni left though because of how toxic the environment is when you're in the main roster. They treat you like shit and you have to just accept it. Until you reach your breaking, like Toni did.
@@el-youtub3r402 You don't know that. You're guessing. I'm not disputing how toxic the main roster atmosphere is but you don't know why she left at all.
Storm is the third NXT female super talent that has been fed to Charlotte in the most ridiculous, non-sensical way. Asuka was the first, then came Rhea and now Toni. At least Toni had enough balls to say “F-You! I am out of here!”
I think it's just the random jump in schedule. She popped up on one SmackDown and all she did was pop up on screen with Boogs then travel with no plans to be on the show. She randomly popped back up with no steam and using pie as a feud starter? It's like Kross. This good momentum after his injury comeback and he loses to Hardy, which isn't bad to put up a losing streak against, but for WWE to cut their 10 minutes to 90 seconds, everybody looks bad. Toni looked like a fool as well as Doudrop. They have these build of momentum from the independents to NXT UK to NXT, and to get misplaced intentionally with no clear plans, why call them up? Why get my hopes up when you won't use me?! Elias and Xia Li might be next if this pattern continues.
Yeah but both Asuka and Rhea ended up beating Charlotte later on. I can see the "newbie" getting called up, falling short, and then putting in the work/getting better and getting their win back. However, I agree it's a bad look to call them up only for them to lose right away. Let them win a couple, then lose to Charlotte, and tell the story of them putting in the work with the payoff of beating Charlotte.
Imagine in 80s if every wrestler that lost to Hogan quit after ? It's almost like people worked for money and weren't marks for themselves and didn't cry because they weren't the champ .
Without notice, I quit my job of three decades a month ago. Best feeling in the world when you work in a sea of bullshit (retail management in my case), and just walk away, leaving it all in the rear view mirror. Take note, folks. Always have options, never need a company just to get by. Most importantly - save up your money so you can have what's called "F.U. Money."
I love it when wrestlers (from any promotion) just go “fuck it I don’t need this shit” and go home. Wrestling seems like it can be such a punishing miserable existence for some people and I respect any wrestler that decides they don’t need to put themselves through it all just for the cash. It is also funny when people tell WWE to fuck cause they do seem like such arseholes to work for!
I’ll never forget the first time she popped up on the main roster for the survivor series matches and she was literally trending on Twitter and I thought she’s blonde, hot, and can wrestle there’s no way she won’t be your favorite for everybody lol.
@@torn314 You're thinking Gigi Dolin. She wears the top hat Also, are you absolutely fucked in the head? Toni Storm is one of the top female wrestlers on the planet
This was the inverse of how Nathan Jones left back in 2003 - he decided to quit, did a WWE tour to Australia/New Zealand, and then when everyone left he stayed behind & that was that. If you do this the way Toni Storm did it, you REALLY want out.
@@johnberry2678 That's what the higher-ups in the WWE want us to believe why she left/quit the WWE. To me, it's a combination of a lot of stuff she left, her booking against Charlotte that made her look like a total joke, not being allowed to put on a match she's capable of against Charlotte, Yes, burnout of traveling, Her mental stresses. Toni Storm had the complete package that they wanted in a female performer and to me, they didn't do a great job of supporting her.
This is one of the problems with having your wrestling promotion double as an NYSE stock. Shareholders don't care about the way it's *supposed* to be run, only that it's profitable. Merch sales are more important than a quality production, and that will never change as long as they're publicly traded. They'll never allow Triple H or another wrestler to take charge and right the ship, because it would look bad in Forbes Magazine or the New York Times. WWE is slowly circling the drain, and the water's getting real low.
Bingo!!! People blame Linda McMahon's political career as the main reason WWE went PG. While that may have been part of it, the main reason in my opinion was when the company went public. They went PG so that corporations would feel better buying advertising on their shows. Which of course makes more money for the shareholders.
@Zach Sabbath Did I say it was a bad thing to make money? It only becomes detrimental when making more money sacrifices the product being produced. Which in this case it undoubtedly has.
@@TRivera13 The company went public 2001 or 2002. Also, I want to remind everyone that smackdown was pg the whole time. In 2008, the company went overboard cleaning up their image imho. It was like rated G instead of pg.
The moment Toni got smashed in the face with a Pie is the moment where she said to herself this isn't wrestling I am out of here. So she had a triple threat match with Charlotte and Sasha at a house show then dipped off. That's says it all right there. She just worked with two of the best talents in the entire company not a bad way to go out. You have to understand the mindset of someone who is passionate about Pro wrestling. Most ppl that are passionate about Pro wrestling aren't in WWE. They usually end up leaving. The ones that stick around WWE are the ones that stay for a paycheck. You can tell when talent loses their passion. There's a huge difference between Pro wrestling and entertainment.

"This generation," as if Stone Cold didn't take his ball and go home. Shawn Michael's didn't piss and moan hourly. Hulk Hogan being a huge diva. Difference now is that the business isn't as good as a whole as it once was, so today's wrestlers are seen as "whiney" instead of "backstage politicking" like the old days.
its the environment that is extremely toxic. Even I wouldn't wanna work for WWE. The Rock left for Hollywood, Lesnar got tired and ended his contract, so did Goldberg, even Taker wanted to quit, Bret Hart was screwed over, they ruined Bart Gunn's career over something that wasn't even his fault, Batista got tired and left, the number of ludicrous booking decisions they made for Wyatt/Fiend which made him quit, Jinder nearly quit the second time, only after taking roids got a decent push. Ronda Rousey is a very recent example. Moxley as well. Nash and Hall 20 plus years ago jumped ship. Comparing Toni Storm to SCSA, Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan is like comparing your local High School football team to the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers and SF 49ers. “Backstage politicking” makes sense for Charlotte or Sasha or Becky, Toni Storm is 26 years old and hasn’t earned that privilege yet. Of course she can just go home and no one can stop her, she just proved it, but if she quit because she wasn’t happy with her standing in the women’s division then it is “whiney”, and foolish.
Hopefully Toni is ok. If she is burned out it happens or maybe something else is wrong. Who knows? Toni was definitely a top prospect for a long time. Hopefully we see Toni Storm wrestle again.

Did you label Bobby Lashley a quitter when he left Impact to return to WWE? Was Stone Cold labeled a quitter when he left ECW for WWE?
Toni Storm pulled a “Wendi Ritcher” when she got fed up with waiting around the locker room area and getting a pie in the face. These things killed her character and opportunity to be acknowledged as a top wrestler. Plus, Toni was a great wrestler.
And if she shows up at AEW, the IWC will say WWE going out of business (again), if she takes time off and returns to WWE, they gonna call her stupid. Whatever, she been traveling since she was 17 and been with 5 promotions in 7 yrs.
The way the fued with Charlotte was playing out, Storm was never gonna get her revenge and be elevated as the champion. Getting embarrassed every week in clownish fashion, looking like a chump, losing repeatedly and then you’re relegated to catering? She made the right move. She chose dignity over money. Salute to her 💯
I think Charlotte is the spoiled, selfish entitled brat due to her family name. She's not willing to make the wrestlers she works with to be elevated to greatness. I had a feeling that Toni Storm would get buried in that feud. It was a smart move to get out of the organization ASAP. I felt she walked away from the company more than requesting her release. That reminds me of my job where a new employee arrives to work for one day and then they disappear the next day, or they work for a couple of weeks, then one day they go on break and we never see them again instead of putting in a two week notice and leave on good terms.
It's really sad to see what WWE did to themselves after being a teen in the 90s and seeing it so big! You'd figure they could easily understand why wrestling sucks and just take it back to how it was when it was good.
So you understand, that moron Vince thought the same, took NXT over now, and wants it to be 100% gimmicks. Idiotic Doink the clowns and the like. To Vince that's what sold on TV. The worst part is, Tony Khan became a fan of THAT too. He's trying to do that himself.
Oh, my God, Jim and Brian’s laughing at 7:50 is so hilarious, it got me laughing too. But in all seriousness, I don’t blame Toni Storm for leaving WWE. If the WWE keeps this up at this rate, eventually the majority, or the entirety, of the roster will be doing the same and who could blame them.
Its a shame, I liked Toni... I don't understand why they buried her so brutally... Unless thats just what Charlotte's new gimmick is... burying people by throwing potatoes and acting like its their fault.
I would have quit if I were her as well. The booking of her and Charlotte was bullshit. Sure Charlotte wins but storm came off as a jobber. Now had the wwe, made this a program in which she jobbed this poorly to Charlotte then work her way up to beat Charlotte at Mania; maybe that would be worth it.
@Sub if you are against Antifa and BLM I’m with you, I know a lot of people won’t admit it but most women’s wrestling is just awful, and it’s so hard to look believable. I always said if I had my own promotion I might not have women’s wrestling period. Unless they can all work close to or on the same level as a Serena Deeb I’m not even attempting it. @@johnberry2678, that’s just speculation. They work 3-4 dates per week. They get plenty of off time and chances to recover. It’s not like a generation ago where they were working 300+ days a year with hardly any down time. Those guys suffered serious burnout and had to recover with an injury angle that kept them off the road for a few weeks every few years. Most likely, and we’ll have to hear from her, is that it was piss poor booking. She’s a hot, young talent made to look like a jobber. It’s no secret he hates pro wrestling and has been trying to get as far away from anything resembling that.

Serves them right and good on her for refusing to take their shitty booking and not let them further ruin her credibility or strip every last bit of her dignity away with how badly they buried her, she's way too talented to be misused the way she was on the main roster. At least Triple H knew how to utilize her correctly when he had her in NXT and NXT UK because apparently he's the only one higher up in the company who knows the meaning of the word 'talent' anymore
Have you never heard of a babyface push? Toni shouldn't win against Charlotte until it's on a grand stage like Wrestlemania-- Toni wasn't going to win the title on a random Smackdown Episode lol. Toni had no patience to wait. She was actually being used in main event matches. LOL she left for New Zealand after a triple threat match with Charlotte and Sasha Banks-- the two most over women in wrestling aside from Becky Lynch. She's an entitled spoiled brat, and she showed that she has no patience to actually put in the effort to get over with fans before a mega push. Good riddens.
@@teecakes Someone definitely wasn't watching when they made her look completely inferior to Charlotte literally every single week aside from pieing her in the face and pinning her in a tag match. The crowd definitely wanted her to win, but she wasn't going to because they made her look like a chump as I already said. @@Colt2OO2 bro, you’ve watched wrestling before, right? Of course the crowd wanted her to win, she’s the babyface to Charlotte’s monster heel. That’s how this works, but if she beats Charlotte too early then there’s no story to tell, no arc of redemption for our fallen hero, just 2 people having a match. The monster heel crushes our young babyface, humiliates them, crushes their spirit and tries to break them completely. Our babyface gets back up, fights through the obstacles and eventually, on the big stage, defeats the monster heel, and we get to experience the triumph alongside our babyface champion. You’d prefer a 26 year old unknown with a ridiculous 80’s rock gimmick come in and immediately compete on the same level as the most decorated and (whether you like it or not) the best female wrestler in the business? A feud with Charlotte is good for your career, not bad for it. A feud with Charlotte puts you on tv every week for the length of the program. A feud with Charlotte means the company sees something in you. She’ll be doing matches with Abadon and Rebel on Dark:Elevation for half the money soon enough.
@@12ozmouse99 Don't get it twisted, I wasn't saying immediately push her to the moon and make her champion right away because then there'd be backlash anyway, but she was pushed very well in NXT and NXT UK before having her obvious talents wasted on the main roster because they didn't really know what they had, so I still don't blame her for leaving. I don't think having her get embarrassed almost every week and then losing a pretty lopsided title match is a sign that they saw anything other than yet another interchangeable wrestler to feed to Charlotte Flair in Toni Storm. Why else do you think Asuka and Rhea Ripley had their auras damaged after facing and losing their titles to her? They don't see any other stars besides Becky, Sasha, Bayley, Bianca and potentially Liv Morgan and all they want is for Charlotte to surpass her father's legacy, which is why regardless of how good she is in the ring, they keep giving her title reigns and burying the rest of the division apart from the names I mentioned.

You’ve got to put in the time, that’s my whole point. If the company is working you early on with their best talent, it’s because they see potential in you. If they didn’t like her she’d be in a program with Doudrop or Tamina. The pie stuff was dumb as hell, sure but Charlotte endured the same dumb shit. Toni was on the main roster for what, 6 months? 6 months and walking because of booking decisions is ridiculous. Then again her booking may have absolutely nothing to do with her walking away. We’ll have to wait to hear from her on why she left.
"Toni isn't the first person to quit" thanks captain obvious, there is still context behind it that is unique to her experience and different from other people quitting, people quit for different reasons. Shocker eh?
Multiple articles have cited that she quit due to burnout on the road, keep in mind while Toni’s been with the company for a few years, she is only just now being used on the road and I’m guessing that the traveling schedule was draining.
I think Jim's right. It's not really in anybody's interest to fight this out in court. If it was Roman Reigns or something then maybe they go to the mat so to speak fighting it. But they probably don't give a crap that much about Toni Storm when they've already released so much talent of her equivalent.
On the flip side it sends the message that if talent doesn't like what's going on, they can just up and quit. He's about to find out what that really means.
@@TRivera13 He's always known what that means. The guy had Steve Austin walk out before. That's why the entire 2 - 3 hour shows don't follow a narrative like they used to.
I think AEW will snap her up as soon as they can. Their women's division is a lot better than it was, but they still need a bit more talent, starpower, and someone who's not green. Toni Storm checks all three of those boxes
The WWE environment is not so conducive for everyone's health. I hope Tony storm takes care of herself and continue to find success on wrestling business.
Get ready to put together more pro wrestling brands like the NWA and others like them because the WWE keeps self destructing. The Fed is literally making more $$$ right now than at any other point in it’s existence . The rise of the NWA or GCW or CZW has been heralded for years now by smarky internet fans to no avail. The territories have been dead for 40 years, they’re not coming back. Any fantasies of WWE being done in by all those decisions that you don’t agree with are just that, fantasies. That pie in the face storyline with Charlotte and her debut was flirting with dolph Ziggler backstage because vince thinks they are the same. I dont blame her for wanting to get out of there. I’m going to reserve judgment until Toni herself makes a statement. I don’t care to delve into the speculation. The way she left sounds a bit unprofessional but I can sympathize with mental burnout. She’s only 26, who knows in 3 years she could be back. With a new hold
it does sound a tad unprofessional but honestly looking at where she works at WWE management is notorious for being extremely unprofessional, look at every wrestle that left and they all say the same thing its toxic unprofessional and if you're not part of the inner circle and licking their A Hole and drinking their kool aid they aint gonna listen to you. . Some times telling management to F off im Done is the only way.
This story is crazy, I did not see that coming. I initially thought it was, "fake news"😅. That said, the fact that more, and more people lose their passion for wrestling, after working for WWE, gives people like Punk, and others, who wanted out of this machine, more credence🤷🏿♂️
WWE has to be very careful with the international wrestlers they have on the roster. They've already left everything they know to work there. I'm sure they miss their friends and families pretty badly. The great resignation has come to wrestling.
I do worry about Toni Storm’s well-being. I don’t want her story to end up like Ashley Massaro’s. If leaving WWE is best for her then good, she might find more joy in AEW or iMPACT or maybe an Indy promotion.
This aged wonderfully my friend! She's killing it now. I'm not going to do the usual tribal response of slagging WWE and praising AEE or vice versa, but it's working for her in AEW so I'm happy in that sense.
Oh boo hoo. She was trained, saw what the job entailed, and knew what she was getting into. The woman was offered millions to do that job and she quit. It is what it is, but there's no reason to feel bad for her.
I'm surprised they didn't talk about the story of Jack Brisco quitting the business. According to Gerry, they were in the airport going to the next show and Jack just said "you see that plane heading south? I'm on the next one." And never worked again. As for this story, Storm is one of the best women working today, and ever since she left UK she's either been treated like a geek or not really put in angles at all. And just because she was working Charlotte doesn't mean they cared, it just meant Charlotte needed an angle to work before moving on to the big one leading to Mania. She was completely dominated in the build up, then defeated like nothing. They do that all the time, especially with women. Whether you agree with how she did it or not, the entitled millennial idea is just stupid because they gave examples of wrestlers doing that for decades, often with fewer problems than she had there.
She hasn't wrestled well against Charlotte, generally speaking. Messing up on some key spots. And her last televised match she looked really bad in the ring. I thought it was very odd, because I've watched her since her time in NXT & NXT UK and she's very capable in the ring. I've never seen her wrestle/run the ropes like she did in her last match. She looked very skittish. Something was definitely off with her. IDK, maybe her confidence was shot or something was wrong with her physically. She just didn't look right.
Her Mae Young Tourny and NXT UK runs were something special. When she went to NXT and turned heel, something did seem a little off. The way she moved in the ring looked like she was in pain to me.
I didn’t catch her work in NXT UK, but was aware of the hype around her. She never blew me away with her work in NXT though and I assumed it was just guys simping out, as is often the case. But you may be onto something, as I noticed she seemed slower and more awkward once she got to the main roster. Her last few matches were especially not smooth, like she was having trouble with routine things. The yips maybe, or a suppressed injury, or maybe she just burned out and didn’t really care. I’m sure she’ll be on Jericho’s podcast as soon as he weasels her phone number from someone.
"They had her working against Charlotte, so they must have some plans for her..." Not necessarily Jim, look at all the other women they had competing for the title against Charlotte and Becky and where they are now. Let's see what happens to Liv going forward, and we'll see. Hell, look at Cesaro after he fought Reigns for the title. The WWE can build up stars, whether they do it or fans do it, but then they just don't do anything with them.
He'll dismiss them mainly as a disgruntled worker. Brian will tread lightly and possibly mildly criticize Tony Khan but will also say he "understands why he did what he did"....where as if Vince did the same thing Brian would want a public execution for him.
The other aspect could be this: Toni Storm realized "If the WWE wants to do something with me, I have to wrestle Charlotte Flair or Sasha Banks? Forget it." Charlotte is a known toxic person (look at her history with Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss and any time she would lose a match) and Sasha disappeared for months and threw a tantrum at a WrestleMania because she would lose a title. That plus having to spend weeks traveling, not being used then potentially having to wrestle Charlotte Flair every night would do anyone's head in.
Merch sales are more important than a quality production, and that will never change as long as they're publicly traded.

She has been a pro wrestler since the age of 14.They start training young in the UK.
Is it really shocking news? For the first time in 20 years, they have a viable alternative, and they're not afraid to use it. Vince hasn't been afraid to abuse his position when he's had a monopoly, the wrestlers should give him the same in return. I'm so glad to see they're saying "This isn't good enough for me, goodbye", instead of holding out some false hope that threatening to quit would lead to the situation improving.
You mean the place doing what WWE did and having way too many people on their roster?

Toni Storm should have been a mega star in WWE. She had every skill.
She original from New Zealand and later moved to Australia when she was child. Now she living in USA with Juice Robinson from Impact wrestling and NJPW.
Thank you! They kept implying she dropped everything and flew all the way to New Zealand.

I could totally understand why she would quit. Imagine waiting so long to finally get your moment and move up to the main roster only for them to bury you with shitty booking.
But she didn't get buried..he was just wrestling for the smackdown title lol. Stop the nonsense. Since the video didn't tell you as well. She was nxt uk champ for awhile, maybe a whole year.

The Honky Tonk Man had the best line about the catering "it's coming out of your check ya fucking mark!"
In her case, a lot of the catering ended up being thrown in her face. Double whammy there
Or other places
No more catering. Budget cuts!
When did he say this lol?
@@patrickboian8545 Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows told the story on Jericho's podcast, saying he said it at the catering during Wrestlemania week one year.
Typically, the non-compete clause is a set amount of time AFTER they stop paying you, regardless of reason. You aren't allowed to write a contract that effectively retires a person from a profession. And anything left vague, will be read to the benefit of the contractor, not the company. I bet there are a few headliners that would quietly help fund her case just so that they have the precedent set.
Most wrestlers I talk to say that catering is one of the best things about the WWE!
New slogan: WWE - Come for the abuse, stay for the catering!
toni if you read this: take that contract to a labor attorney. Most "IC" contracts are sheer exploitation and the law is beginning to recognize that.
Stars walking out like that should be a sign for WWE to look in the mirror and ask “what did we do wrong” Problem is, WWE never sees themselves to be at fault. They’re also big enough in the business to not care. They shrug it off and keep going, keep exploiting
nothing wrong with it... she expected the world right away and didn’t get it. Good riddance.
I love how Jim defends catering lmao he knows good food
And it shows. 😆
"She's a modern day Bruiser Brody."
*Gail Kim has entered the chat.
I don't blame her. She is only 26 years old, she has years of time left on her career. WWE will never use her correctly nor will they give her a chance. Just because she had a program with Charlotte doesn't mean they are giving her a chance because they seem to just use her to put over Flair even more. She is in her prime. She can go anywhere and work in any company.

Wwe is becoming a wasteland they actually might have to do a year of Roman vs Brock like that year or two of cena vs orton back in the day
This story is crazy, I did not see that coming. I initially thought it was, "fake news"😅. That said, the fact that more, and more people lose their passion for wrestling, after working for WWE, gives people like Punk, and others, who wanted out of this machine, more credence🤷🏿♂️
You can tell the "fuck it I'm done" tickled Jim.
Everyone that wants to cry "poor Toni" for the Charlotte angle, then you've never watched Alexa Bliss' "this is your life, Bayley."
Oh boo hoo. She was trained, saw what the job entailed, and knew what she was getting into. The woman was offered millions to do that job and she quit. It is what it is, but there's no reason to feel bad for her.
Exactly they messed over Alexa Tony your next SMH
@@amodernphoenix "Offered millions"?
Some commenters here really live on another planet in an alternate universe.
I love to figure out when the Travis artwork makes sense lol
to go from doing more serious stuff in NXT to throwing pies in peoples faces like it’s the 2011 divas era..i can see why she’d have enough

"They had her working against Charlotte, so they must have some plans for her..."
Not necessarily Jim, look at all the other women they had competing for the title against Charlotte and Becky and where they are now. Let's see what happens to Liv going forward, and we'll see. Hell, look at Cesaro after he fought Reigns for the title. The WWE can build up stars, whether they do it or fans do it, but then they just don't do anything with them.
I think there is a lot more stuff going on then meets the eye with Toni strom.

I see Travis didn't draw her with pie on her face. Can't wait to hear Cornette on Big Swole comments.
I wouldn't be surprised if Charlotte shows up on Raw and takes a cheap shot at Toni Storm next week about 'how she couldn't cut it' or some crap like that.
There's nothing supporting that.
Toni is wearing a 👕 that says, "Thank you. Fuck you. Goodbye."
