It's beautiful how supportive and excited the other ballet dancers are for her. I'm sure they all wish they could have a private audition for ABT, but instead of being jealous, they are excited for her.
Alexa Boyles that is very rare in a dance company. Many studios and companies will but girls against each other ecspecially in competition. This was a very special opportunity and experience for her
+Stefania Lounsbury is it? Awesome to know! I'm unfamiliar with American ballet companies for the most part. I'm glad she got a good position though, she definitely deserves it!
+Genina Dolojan actually, I live in Chicago and have seen many Joffrey performances. I went to New York this summer and watched the ABT perform Cinderella. I was only impressed with the dancer who was playing the role of Cinderella, but she was just a guest from The Royal Ballet (Marianela Nuñez). If ABT is an "A List" company, than so is The Joffrey Ballet. Honestly, I find Joffrey's dancers more breathtaking and exciting to watch. Obviously, any dancer that can make it into any company is talented. I'm just stating my opinion...
I'm sorry If me joking around offended you. Not trying to be rude or malicious and I thought it was pretty obvious I was joking around. I'm joking around about my own body in the comment I made. I joke around about death all the time. It happens to everyone... So I don't see any reason not to joke about it. If I'm not talking about hurting or killing anyone (which I clearly wasn't) it really doesn't matter. I'm not hurting anyone. Also, I have the right to free speech so I can joke about whatever I want to *****
Mayumi was so articulate in the other episodes, here she's looking a bit star-struck by Valeriia like she can't think what to say. Valeriia's a Vaganova grad, has been soloist with ballet companies and gone on world tour before even coming to MCB. There's this aura of experience about her, I wonder if the others feel like schoolkids in comparison.
BRAVO! Bravissimo! Valeria, Your most important gift is your presence, no one can teach you that, always, ALWAYS, follow the directions, but always personalize your own steps, that's your gift. The Grigorovich Odile variation suits your technical gifts, and He would be proud. I noticed you do the French fouette, I think the Russian would suit you more. Good luck with ABT, they could use a strong soloist and several ballerinas have retired, so it's good timing.
I really like watching her :) as she talks about how she's so used to Russian dancing you can almost see what she means about struggling in more contemporary sort of stuff, but it adds a more interesting technique in my opinion
I love that different styles of ballet are taught. I get that a lot like Russian more, but how can you not appreciate all styles. Having different styles makes for more variety.
*SPOILER ALERT* Both Ella and Mayumi made it to the Miami City Ballet and now are Corps members! I'm so happy for them!! Valerii got into the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago too!
That fact that she was bursting with excitement at the chance of getting a job, not even actually getting a job, shows how competitive and difficult this industry is
many russian girls go to europe or to america because the russian ballet is way more competitive and they have better chances in the us or europe because the girls there are not as good as the russian ones
antonia defries, what makes the Russian school so successful and competitive is its ironclad discipline bordering on cruelty. The Vaganova Academy is definitely not a place for sensitive types.
antonia defries it’s still competitive out here. Russia’s tough mainly because their physical requirements. No matter how good her technique is, she would never be successful in Russia because of her body type. America is way more open to different body types.
Clarissa Leung when I said that, I meant how for example, they require different lines (I didn’t mean physically acceptable and unacceptable by body type). Where American style likes a leg line to usually stay in line with the floor, the Russians like your leg lifted almost to your head. Both styles are hard in different ways.
In Russia, they like long legs, real slender arms and torso, and long necks. Though she does have many gifted qualities, she does lack some of the born gifts many famous Russian ballerinas have.
I fell in love with ballet as a young child. and I still adore it with every fiber of my being. but, due to my joint disorder, and other problems, I have never been able to go to school for ballet. piano and art are my life now.
Im watching this to see the difference~~ sooooo i can go to the RUSSIAN ballet studio! Not everybody wants quick dance. if so we can chooose contemporary..... RUSSIAN STYLE is so ELEGANT!
Not to be disrespectful, but is it a Brazilian thing to interrupt someone when they talk or to repeat everything they say? I want to know if it's a cultural thing or if Mayumi is just that annoying. A cultural thing can be excused. if it's not, someone should teach her that it's bad manners. Side-note: Valeriia Chaykina is beautifully wonderful. The lines, the extensions, the ease with which she displays flawless technique... Would love to see her live.
I much prefer to the Russian style of ballet, it’s so gorgeous. Not a fan of companies like NYCB and the Balanchine method, they are more about athleticism than artistry, grace, and storytelling. I also don’t like Maria, acting like her job is so important, most of the world does not even care about ballet
they are all rooming together - young, talented, passionate women. I can't even imagine how they cope it's completely insane, all their families are mad and beautiful
Of course she didn't feel like she fitted in at vaganova, her body isn't made like most russian dancers. (Dont get me wrong, she's skinny but not vaganova skinny)

Just looked her up - Valeriia got a spot at a Chicago company, Joffrey Ballet. Sad that she didn't get ABT :( she's got some real talent!
Joffrey is an EXTREMELY good company too though.

joffrey is the bomb wyd
I'm rooting for Valeria. Major respect.
She is so good I love watching her dance
How Non-Flexible people cry:
Head in hands
How Flexible people cry:
Middle splits, toes pointed, head on floor
Finally a Russian dancer who isn't tall and skinny I love this girl her body is just like mine
Dope Dancer me too!

Most great american ballet dancers would be average in Russia. While russian ballet may be slower, its more difficult.

I like the more traditional classic style but the dancers should be versatile for the professional ballet world
I love how they are all so supported of each other
Her friends are so supportive!!! I love that! :D
Omg she's gorgeous.
is she?
I can so relate to Valeria, I train at a Vagonova academy.
The support of her friends can definitely out a smile on your face:)

why would you spoil the show?? so rude. :\
Please can you at least write ‘SPOILER ALERT’ at the beginning of the comment because I think you have ruined the ending for many people. 😩☹️
It's good, too, because Ella and Mayumi are more used to the hot Miami climate, and Valerii the colder northern climate.
Is Joffrey a good place too? Like MCB ?? I'm not knowledgeable of the ballet world.
@@Emjay_Music Yes Joffrey is very good, it's one of the first companies you normally hear about as a ballet dancer.

Valeria such a beautiful name
Ugh I love Russian dancers. They’re so elegant. I rewatch this a lot
'I'm not that tall, I'm not that skinny' WHAT???l???!!!

Phil:) It's true, she is much less angular than your typical Russian ballerinas
In Russia, they like long legs, real slender arms and torso, and long necks. Though she does have many gifted qualities, she does lack some of the born gifts many famous Russian ballerinas have.
+Arielle Dietz I agree , she doesn't look like Vagnova's school ballerina
Phil:) she does dance on pointe, which makes her look much taller
Why is she so beautiful omg
ABT Oh my God. That's amazing! I hope she gets in!!! :D
Annie Zhang she got to Chicago company, Joffrey ballet but not ABT
Annie Zhang I looked her up
fifi aww sad😥
@@dsdsksdmsj3045 how in the world is this sad? The Joffrey is one of the top ballet companies.

Valeria is stunningly gorgeous 😍
the brazil girl always repeats what people say 😂
I am so happy Valeria joined the Joffrey Ballet in 2015, I think she is amazing..xo
I love how they are so supportive of eachother😍💎🦄
The subtitles audio corrected valaria’s name to malaria....
omg yes,ive been waiting soooo long for this show

shes so good.
Lmaoo the way he’s looking @ her in the mirror when she’s stretching @ 2:52 😂😂

Finally a strictly ballet video where they don’t repeat the same thing over and over
Her eyes are gorgeous!
wow she is reaalllly good!!!!!
8:05 watch her and the girl behind her. Ur welcome.
She left Vaganova for MCB???? Girl??!!!?
R. H. she graduated from vaganova
Shes at joffrey ballet now
She know she will never be in a good Russian company because of her (beautiful) body type

I like the Brazilian girl in episode 1 the best
Lily Shay muyami
Lily Kat I'm from Brazil and I met her once. She Is amazing!!! She Is so adorable and an inspiration. She did ballet in the same school I do.
MAYUMI I LOVE YOU!!!
she's super pretty
Very inspiring young athletes! I hope all their ballet dreams come true.
I feel anxious just by watching this tbh
Love this series so much
Where's episode 2?
I can really relate to Valeria because I have a big but and thick legs so I never been a long and skinny body dancer like a ideal ballerina should be
There are dancers in companies with that body type, just usually in the corps

My dance teachers work at ABT and come to Connecticut everyday to teach us
where in ct do you dance?
Anyone know which piece she is dancing to at 5:05? It's beautiful!
Etudes maybe? I'm not sure.
yes it's the etudes variation that she's dancing but it's not the actual etudes music
I am an Indian an I learn the vaganova ballet system while it may be slower its tougher than Russian

They told her to audition to new York city ballet and my friend goes there and she is only 10
I’m Russian just like Valeria
ANYONE SEE THE SSTIPTON AT FIRST OR AM I TRIPPING????!
She will probably always be a back row corps member at a second tier American company but the quality of life is better in the USA so she wins anyway
[cackles in Joffrey Ballet]
I hate the way they make Russian ballet seem insupieriour to American ballet. Russian ballet is by far harder
Anna Stenson depends
No not really
she's in the upper level compare w/ other girls tbh
She's hefty for a Russian ballerina. Probably wouldn't stand a chance in the old country.
seer16 that’s probably one of the reasons why she left.

I kinda feel like the white girl who is the other apprentice reminds me of Regina georfe
waterbot stop shes nice
Hehe I have that tripod
My sister’s friend said 🇷🇺 ballet is kinda scary
Why do they dunk their feet in ice water?
because pointe shoes hurt, they give you blisters and make your feet sore and stuff
Because it relieves the pain from dancing en pointe. I've had to take ice baths from difficult dance pieces, but I've never iced my feet like that
Kacie Broadfield it’s like a ice bath and many do it like this for ease of access. I use to ice my ankles this way.
