I would love to have the Fleicher superman shorts because I've only found them in relative to modern standards, fairly low quality and I imagine that's mostly due to the difficulty of maintaining the quality of the original material for nearly a hundred years since we've come a very long way in media storage. It's not my favorite set of superman episodes I love the DCAU (Bruce Tim Universe) and especially for the superman portrayal, but those shorts are incredible and I'd probably love them in a diffrent way if I could see it in original film

Honestly, speed racer fucking rocks, but not for the normal reasons. This movie is so beyond anything normal movies are. It is probably the single most visuallydifferent high budget movie of the 2000s, its a fucking trip. Yeah the plot is thin and the acting is shit, but aesthetically its just a fucking bold experiment. If you just look at it from the angle of editing its one of a kind. Go and study it, you will be surprised.
Speed Racer is great you guys are crazy and Peter Jacksons Kong is some of the best CGI still to this day and has the craziest fight scene of all time.

I'm a novice when it comes to gun knowledge and I made mistakes before. But there's a difference between simply correcting someone and giving them shit all the way through for not knowing what for them seems to be the most basic knowledge like what's 2+2. You don't have to be a douchebag when you correct someone.
I've noticed that with boxsets too, even movie ones seem to pop cheaper than a single movie from the set. As to the lever thing, so many showing off try to do the fast cycling thing with the back of their hands too and find out the hard way it's not fun
As much as I disagree with Kyle saying Lotr is “okay” (his opinion is valid) I do have to agree that ‘the making of’ for that series is phenomenal and I think I’ve watched it just as much as the actual film. Most cases I’ve watched before the movie 😂 I also love ‘the making of’ any claymation. Those are lost gems as everything is CGI now. There’s one about pirates where I’ve watched ‘the making of’ more than the movie. I’ve literally put the DvD in to watch behind the scenes and directors commentary etc and then not bothered with the actual movie. I wanted that pirate ship when I was a kid, I wish it was a toy!

For me, the movies I want in super high quality are almost all 2D animation. The first one that comes to mind is Akira, as well as Princess Mononoke, any/all things by Satoshi Kon, classic/Golden Age Disney films, and Yellow Submarine. Those have so much detail and vibrancy that having them high quality can be mind blowing, and is also really cool to study the art and animation from. Similarly, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, because the effects and acting with the mixed animation and live action are so fantastic. Really the only fully live-action movie I can think of is 2001: A Space Odyssey. It feels like the first and last thirds of the film are only worth seeing in theaters, with a huge screen and surround sound. The HAL section stands on its own as a story, so it's ok in lower quality, but with the right setup and quality, the more abstract sections turn from kind of boring into a mindfuck of a theme park ride. Also, the full color editions of the Akira manga. The version I have has a couple of color pages per book, but knowing that there's a full color version out there haunts me (and my wallet).
Well lucky for you KARL, One Piece is getting a reboot so you can start watching from episode 1! Also yes, it's apparently getting a reboot while the old series is still ongoing.

However, every now and then, there's a very awkwardly done composite shot that looks bad even for 2001. They're still great films but they sure ain't perfect. Also, the films are available on UHD Blu-ray and it's a new scan. However, it's only 2K upscaled to 4K UHD. It's not native 4K because it can't be, not without redoing every single VFX shot.

Regarding Speed Racer... When a friend bought a Blu Ray player, he asked me for some titles to get to show off the tech. I mentioned Speed Racer, but clearly stated that it was an awful film with a colour palette that would burn out his retinas. It's bright, brash vulgar and nonsensical. He bought it. He agreed. One to avoid on Blu Ray - AC/DC Live at Donington. I bought it because I was at that concert, but the picture quality is dreadful due to the remarkably poor source footage.
I got the full 40th anniversary set of the Flash Gordon movie lol. I also have the complete 1937 serial series, a few comics, and the queen picture vinyl
