  • We go to the top of the world. Amazing views of Moab, Utah. I talk about the trail conditions and what type of vehicle it'll take for you to get there too. Plus we meet some jarheads and check out their vehicles.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t super jealous. I’ve been out of the country for a while, and I long to get back to my family, my Jeep, and the Land of the Free. Subscribe if you haven’t; happy trails and be safe.

Another excellent presentation, and a great adventure! Glad that rock didn't choose to slough off while you had the Gladiator parked on it!! 😆

Damn. We JUST missed doing Top of the World when we were in Moab last week! Did Fin's and Things, Hell's Revenge but weather and time constraints made us miss Top of the World! Good to see your video on what obstacles are in the way. Actually looks easier than what I thought.

Some thoughts: 1. The Dewey Bridge fire was started my kids playing with matches. 2. When I first ran this trail, it was much easier. In fact, I never once used 4WD and did not take any bypasses. 3. Regarding stacking rocks: The reason stacking is needed these days is because the trails are so torn up from people grinding out giant ruts at the base of obstacles. Another good example is Kane Creek. Hamburger Hill is getting so chewed up that even rigs with 37s / 40s are having a hard time. Stack rocks if you need to. Save the trail!

Hey Jim, thanks for watching. It’s too bad the bridge was lost in such a careless manner, thanks for filling us in. I had heard Top of the World used to be a much easier trail, it’s hard for me to imagine, when I filmed this video that was my first time on the trail. As for the rock stacking, I suppose I didn’t explain myself clearly, what I was trying to say is that I believe there is a hierarchy of bragging rights. If you complete the trail but you had to use a winch, then I’d say that ranks near the bottom. If you complete the trail but you had to stack rocks, then maybe that’s in the middle. If you complete the trail without any help, then that ranks at the top. To your point though, if you neglect to use a winch or stack rocks and then tear up the trail, then that ranks at the bottom. It is definitely important to protect our public lands and leave them better than we found them. And no bragging rights are more important than that. Happy trails.

Pretty View!!!! ❤️ I liked that
you shared the history about the bridge and also along the way you showed the parts that are hard and options for drivers that would like to experience this trail.
Another important thing is that you share your preferences and respect other’s at the same time, like you would not choose to stack rocks to make the obstacle easier, but as you said, it’s just your opinion, but other people have done it and it’s fine.
The retired Marines showing their Jeeps and sharing their experience was another great thing about this video! Good job!!!!

Audio clipping and running 40s on stock axles

Audio clipping? The axles have trusses and 5.38 gears, but otherwise they’re stock.

@@LandoftheFree yeah, the audio is peaking when you recorded it. Try checking the levels and do some test audio. Most cameras will display levels, record at around -12 db (peak) or so and raise it back closer to 0 in post. It’s pretty standard in the industry, lots of videos on it I imagine. Good luck!

@@LandoftheFree the Rode wireless go mics are good, same with their other small shotgun mics. You can plug a shotgun mic into the go if you want too. Makes it easy to have a wireless shotgun mic. They actually sound pretty good as a lapel type mic too. Preamps is also a factor, some cameras like Canon don’t have good preamps so you can’t use something like their video micro without horrible static. Just do a little research and you’ll get it all squared away!
