For me, i felt like the story is about them having an unofficial break up, like a cool off, the girl was the one to initiate it. The story only tells us that they were ok and nothing seems to cause this sudden change with the girl, or perhaps the guy was clingy but thats something that cannot cause such a major change. Then the guy suddenly sees the girl on the train with another guy like she already moved on without warning, like all this time the girl has someone else she fell in love with even though she was still in a relationship with the first guy, and to make it not seem like cheating, she made the cool off thing (that most likely will lead to break up), but proceeded to see the other guy ahead of time. Something of the like. The story was only presented but not all POVs so we can only base it off with what we were given.
