This is just lovely. I love the fact there is just music and no chatting. It’s so different from other renovation channels and is very relaxing to watch. Bravo!!
Hi Max Elizabeth here from Arizona. It’s fun to be on the beginning of a farmhouse or château renovation or restoration. I look forward to knowing a little bit more about you and to getting a tour of your property and perhaps surrounding area. Seems to me you’ve already accomplished a lot! We wish you the very best and for you to also have some fun along the way!! 🌵
Well if that was yourst edit wow you did an amazing job. So jealous of your project. We live vicariously theough you in our dream kf what could have been…. It has good bones and you are young and strong and motivated, the sky’s the limit!
I feel like that tongue and groove wood could’ve been used for something. 😢 Seems wasteful. I love the cottage. It looks something I would imagine a French countryside cottage to look like. Beautiful stone facade.
Heading to France next week. Can’t wait for my French decompression time. I live in the U.K. and I just need to get out of here. Sadly only for a couple of weeks though.
Hihi, the comments always give such good psychological and sociological insights. The chuckle in this section was strong. Do people know that they can often find information in the description of a channel? Rhetorical question. :) Great videography Max. Wonder where or in what 'department' you are in Bretagne? Given the choice in music, I suspect we are dealing with an old soul? :) Good luck with your project!
Lovely little buiding, would ahve bought it for that beautiful wall alone ! Yes also wondering why you undid the ceiling ? I would have painted it and left it but then imagined that perhaps you were going to add a Velux or even more insulation ? Good luck, looking ward to the next one.
@@MyFrenchCottage Having re-watched the segment I did see that the insulation was a bit thin and was probably a rush job, maybe in order to sell it ! You are right to reinforce the roof insulation as otherwise no point in doing the rest as heat will rise and escape. Good luck xo
Bonjour Max bonne chance pour le projet et la chaine.. je rénove un chalet en Bourgogne shui aussi sur youtube. Je vous souhaite beaucoup de bonheur et de succès. Elle est mignonne comme tout la maison 🏡
Great to find you on the same day as I discover Max's channel! Have subscribed. I'm renovating in the Perigord Vert (northern Dordogne). Look forward to following both your channels.
New to your channel - it looks very lovely but you are part of the story. Would be nice to hear some narrative and background of where, why who and when etc. Look forward to following your transformation.
Music if you don't like you can mute, like to hear french traditional music like bangpipe and bombarde❤, nature is beautifull but i'm so waiting to see the work😅
An enjoyable first episode Ir would be nice to have some info about you and how you came to be there and buy the cottage. Also a bit puzzled about why you removed what would seem to have been an excellent job of insulating the roof, something pretty essential for future comfort and energy efficiency.
@@MyFrenchCottage Hi Max, I like Your Concept of Your Videos, also the Calm Music. For the Insulation, if I may give a Recommendation, You could use indeed Wool or Woodfiber, or Hempfiber Plates/Sheets. They aren´t that stingy dusty. Whatever it may be, You make a great Job.😀 Best Wishes from Germany!🙋♂
If you are not going to narrate your actions could you give us some sub-titles on your thoughts of what your ideas are so that we can follow your actions. Look forward to some more videos. Thank you.
inquisitive minds want to know?😂 on the contrary I look for channels without narration - there is plenty of talking everywhere else. I do not believe this channel is for you … there is a channel with a German priest named Johannes - he likes to narrate,😮, and narrate, and narrate. I believe strongly you will feel/ do so much better being on his channel 🖖
A little introduction and an idea of what you’re doing and why would go along way to helping the viewer understand why you ripped out all the tongue and groove cladding as well as what looks like most of the insulation. Also not a great fan of the loud bloody music. The cottage on the face of it has great potential but it would be nice to have an idea what’s going to happen to it all inthe future please.
Thank you for your comment. I'll improve the music in future videos and put more details in the description. What is going to happen ? More in next episode ! :)
How long until you put plastic as a roof? In 30 years in France all the english "DIYers" do it, with the "next year..." as argument! By the way we renovated a house like that it looks exactly the same (in mayenne)
I was watching this thinking there is nothing really wrong with the upstairs roof why is he tearing it out. Then I saw the spider and was like burn the house down it’s a total loss
Ok, I thought the cottage would be very old fashioned and quite ruined inside. But it seems ok. Not sure what the renovation is about and why (except to change the aesthetics). I agree with several comments that request some kind of intro or outro or explanation, so we know what we're looking at. Right now it just seems you're destroying things that seem ok.
Thank you for your comment! While the cottage may seem fine at first glance, it actually required major renovations. The insulation was almost nonexistent, the electrical system was outdated and unsafe, the masonry had significant structural issues, and the poorly designed roof structure was damaged by wood-boring insects. These works were essential to ensure the building’s safety, comfort, and longevity, beyond just aesthetic updates. I hope the transformation (in future episode) will highlight the importance of these improvements! 😊
Good start. Please avoid the random pics of dragon flys, clouds and cows. There is no context to them. I'm an avid follower of two renovators, happy to support you, but don't know anything about you, the project.. the where or why.
I disagree the music is reminiscent of the 2nd WW ‘dig for food’ messages and given the short digging part seems appropriate. Good luck with this Bijoux little house
Well, I'm greatly interested in the subject matter. But... if music, especially music like this, is what I can expect, then I'm out. Will watch this one and check the next one for the music. If so, I will just unsubscribe.
What a beautiful cottage. I like non-spoken Videos, only work and progress ❤
I'm exciting to see how your cottage journey goes

Great videography skills. Lovely stone boundary walls. Nice to see a restoration of a smaller, but picturesque cottage. A great first video.
Looking forward to your renovation from Elizabeth in Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you Elizabeth! Long live Australia!
will certainly watch the next one. interesting, good filming & well paced.

Great cottage & surrounding area. Best of luck with your renovation. Location?
France, Brittany. I leave in the countryside, near the sea !
Beautiful. Unless it's just not you, please add a few seconds here or there of explanation. Or a few extra notes in the description.
Yes it's me ! Ok, I'll add more informations in the description !
Lovely cottage. Could you add some narrative, or subtitles, or just say hello to the viewers and tell us your name?
Apparently the gentleman's name is Max. A couple of commenters mentioned the name.
He’s making his own content, the way he wants to, does he really need to explain digging holes, mending the ceiling etc? Seems self explanatory to me!

Exactly, insulation is essential for comfort and energy efficiency. 50mm old glass wool (with spider) is not enought. It's why I removed it.
@@MyFrenchCottage Ah, OK
ahah quel carnage ces rampants :D , bon courage pour la suite ! quel type d'isolation as tu choisi de mettre ?
J'aime pas trop le lambris et l'isolation n'isolait pas grand chose ! Laine naturelle ? Laine minérale ? J'hésite encore.

Hi. In Britany, in the west of France.

To get any traction for this channel, you're going to have to either provide subtitles or narration.
Otherwise, good video and much luck!
I’ve just subscribed because I don’t need any of that, especially in the early stages.
All good but music made me wanna switch but I just managed to hold 😮
