I am glad that Dirt Perfect had his problem with the first dozer he got from you. So people were able to find your channel. I hope you feel the same way?
Mr. Clint working on aircraft engine bearings we used to heat them in hot oil about 230 degrees for 15 minutes and the bearings would literally fall on the shaft.
Wish one of the local transmission rebuilders in your area would have offered to assist or loan you the tool to set up the spacers/shims required to finish the job. If course later on if they needed some assistance repairing some heavy equipment you would have returned the favor/assistance.. I miss the days when people helped each other. Really hope this rebuild works well for you folks.😊
I use a Fry Daddy that I keep filled with synthetic oil (higher scorch point) to heat bearings/ gears. Cheap and controllable heat in oil. Great videos.
Hats off to you for doing the rebuild yourself Clinton! 🙂👍 Always cool to take something apart and see how it works. Glad there are zero issues and it shifts like new. Take care and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
It does my heart good to see a father and son are daughter working side-by-side with their parents 💙 I love my father but can't work with him to save my life. Trust i have tried.
I agree. Single countershaft transmissions like this one are daunting, but twin countershaft transmissions are pure black magic. If you don't time the gears just right, the whole thing locks up, despite everything being perfectly round!
The transmission pro's don't do THAT well fixing these buggers. I had two bad shops just replace broken parts, leaving much of the metal shavings. One put JB weld on the cracked housing. It's tough to watch all the shady mechanics these days. You guys were clean, thorough and UNGRADED the whole setup. NICELY DONE!!!
We use a electric skillet with vegetable oil to heat bearings . One time I had a stubborn one that wouldn't drop on after a couple try's so I set the axle outside overnight in the below freezing temp . The next morning I heated the bearing again and it dropped right on .
Another great job Clinton! That was a very tedious task you just performed flawlessly on that transmission! I’ve built a many automatic transmissions but a standard transmission seems to have a whole lot more going on inside! Thanks for the great learning experience!
OMG - That was a LOT of parts to put back in the right place and orientation. I'll admit... I was holding my breath when you put it in gear to back out. Glad it all worked OK. I hope you did something that Grandpa Gus would have done to keep the damn mice out in the future. Now, with all the Bar-BQ action and talk sausage fingers, I'm getting hungry. THANKS for the patience to rebuild this thing and take us for the ride.
Clint, another great job! Your skills always amazes me. I also like that you and the team keep the shop clean and organized. Keep up the good work brother!
Just nothing like that feeling you get when you taje a vehicle out for test drive after you've rebuilt a major component like the tranny, Engine, rear end or others and it's working like the day it came off the assembly line or even better. Clint, you, Sausage Fingers Kevin and the Kid did an outstanding job on that one. Love that Coast Guard / Navy camo paint job.
Can't wait!!! Things work so much better when u have quality parts. Have the patience to take ur time and fit everything together just so. Once again a pleasure watching u all work. So thanks for sharing see u next time.
0:45 🤣🤣 ✊️Clint, my brother!!! Project of my own, needed to dehydrate some play sand......So....in my kitchen oven it went.....then roasted a chicken after for dinner!!🤣🤣
What a team Clinton, that was so far beyond me I was amazed that you could put it together, I was never good at puzzles, great video, can't wait for the next.
Damn Clint! Very impressive rebuild from scratch. Pretty ballsy to tackle that with no prior experience. Very few people could do that like you just did. Congratulations!
That transmission repair under my guidance would not have ended well! Definitely would have had parts left over and it still wouldnt be working. A guys got to know his limitations. Good stuff!
I’ve had the same problems before but not because of rodent damage but had the same problem with not being able to shift into second. It could be just a problem with a lot of this model transmission. I did have mine rebuilt and never had any issues afterwards but while towing heavy loads especially through the lower gears I started double clutching as a precaution only with heavy loads. It was a inconvenience when traveling backroads and places where shifting alot through lower gears was nessasary but I could feel a major difference in how smooth it would shift. Can’t say that it truly made a difference but probably have around five hundred thousand miles on the rebuild and it’s as smooth as any manual transmission I’ve ever driven.
OUTSTANDING JOB, at least 1k saved on labor, I was waiting on this video, and you didn't disappoint. You need more cameras, got you working 1 handed a lot.
The modern technology of video is such a huge benefit on the newer multi gear transmissions. Back in the 80s I ended up doing a lot of transmissions because other guys in the shop would take them apart and not be able to put them back together. Fortunately I got ahold of an older gentleman's set of service manuals for Eaton/Fuller New Process, Allison and several medium duty and standard heavy duty packets. The Allison 13 speed automatic was a fun one. The zip tie trick was a very smart move. I used tie wire, but same idea. It keeps all the main components together. The only ones that can be a real pain are those inner rings, I saw you flip them around a few times to sort it out. I got a whole center shaft back together in an 18 speed once only to realize the shift rings were flipped the wrong way. 🤦♂️ Everything worked fine until I put the idler shaft back in and nothing turned. I sure could've used a camera back then. Great job. Those 6 speeds can be intimidating for sure.🤙
It's not many left out their that have 90 to 100% ìntheir head, höwe a tranmission isbuild! Great knowledge Sir! From Peter Eriksson Sweden Europe 😊😊😅!
Quality & Control here, you’ve put on one scene double in this video around 19min. Anyway, nice video again to see this transmission putting together 👍👏👊💪
To reduce the size of a ring - chill it - blast of CO2 gas (fire extinguisher) will shrink it nicely. Heat a rod (longer and skinny) Chill rings to compress the ring. And heat to expand. tricks on rings and volumes, linear and volumetric expansions.
C&C Equipment +: As is usual for the 'C&C E' channel, another superb presentation, documenting the entire ( or virtually _'entire'_ ) rebuild and installation of the clutch/transmission/transfer assemblies in the Dodge Ram 3500 truck. The rebuild process proved to be _tedious, rather complex_ and difficult to keep up w/, to say the very least! An effort expertly handled by the people of the business, to include Clint, Kevin, Her Majesty, the true _Boss_ of the operation, 'Uncle' Scott and son, Hunter (hope _none_ have been overlooked/left out? 😳; if so, sincere apologies are offered to one and all). The video receives the ubiquitous *_YT_* 'thumbs-up' "reward" for its outstanding *_excellence/quality._* Well done, as always! Keep 'em rollin' out, guys & gal! 👏👏👏
I’m not one to say how to build a transmission because I don’t have the nuts. But I watch a lot of Warren on farm machinery and when he rebuilds them. He freezers pretty much all the parts and they slip right back on. Great video.
Awesome job wrapping up the tranny rebuild had no doubts it would work perfectly.job well done. Appreciate you sharing the rebuilding with us..shows just how impressive your skill set is.😎🇺🇸🛠️🚜🔧🛻😇
Great job. Nice thing is, you know everything has been replaced that needed it, you’ve added safety to it with the extra oil and finned reservoirs. New clutch too. And to finish, the transmission runs better than straight out of the factory. You can’t ask for a better finish to a difficult job.
I am glad that Dirt Perfect had his problem with the first dozer he got from you. So people were able to find your channel. I hope you feel the same way?

I was watching Clinton well before Dirt Perfect… 🤷♂️ I’ve wanted to buy a Surplus truck from him for a long time…
Kevin reminded me of someone and just now I figured it out, he looks like Curly from the three stooges
But Kevin has hair
I don't know I was thinking Uncle Fester from the Adams Family.
Kevin is a national treasure….
I was thinking he reminded me of Jon reep. THAT THING GOTTA HEMI??!! they have to be related
@@gullreefclub so did Curly that's how he got his name

Maybe some ss mesh over the hole the mice get in is required.
I've seen enough of your work to say yes your a professional mechanic 👍 👌

Very few shops rebuild them. Making the assumption somebody local has the ability and admonishing them is... Typical of people like you.
I would bet there are no shops with experience in this transmission. No rebuilders left! Everyone just replaces it with reman.
@@mfreund15448 There are rebuild centers... just not common for local shops to rebuild these. How else does one get a re manufactured unit?

The better value on the truck is keeping it. Low mileage and great body, clean interior. My vote would be keeping it for the shop😊
Automatic is superior in every way. It's just a tool... and when a tool doesn't work down the road it goes.
@@Look_What_I_Did Hmmm America`s throw-away society

Boss & Bubby get it done....good job!!! Winning combination, with wife inspection!
I’m beginning to think you can fix anything, except the crack of dawn, or a broken heart. Another great job and fine video!
Thank you!
Tony Orlando didn’t have much luck either.

Good job on the 6 speed. I remember 40 years ago watching my Dad rebuild a few 4 speeds from dump trucks. I miss him.
