The photo you zoomed in on of the burning aircraft and paratroopers was taken during Operation Mercury, the German invasion of Crete in May 1941. What we are seeing is Ju-52 transport aircraft delivering some of the roughly 14,000 German paratroopers during the early stages of the invasion. One them has been hit by British anti-aircraft fire as is flaming from its port engine (out of 3). This operation was pretty significant for a few reasons, but one of which was the extreme loses taken in both aircraft and troops. Nearly 300 German aircraft were destroyed by British and Greek air defenses. Although not all of them were the valuable Ju-52's, they did represent the majority and it took quite awhile for the Junkers factory to make up for these losses. Worse yet, over 4,000 German troops were killed taking the Island, and the vast majority were paratroopers. These were the early days of the war when German paratroopers were superbly trained and very difficult to replace. Hitler in fact demanded that his paratroopers never be used in a large scale operations again because of the high casualties. Really interesting battle.

@Mock Harris I was just pointing out some facts in the context of the photo he zoomed in on, which had nothing to do with Royal Navy losses. I do agree with you that losing 4 cruisers and the island of Crete itself made up the difference, but it could be argued the operation could have been planned and executed better than it was.

hey man, just wondering something;
would you be able to turn up the whispering in your editing software or generally on the mic at all? its no problem if you cant do it because of bg noise or something. but i have hearing problems and its hard for me to get the full experience haha. plus, if its too loud for others they can just turn it down(but i cant turn it up any higher) - which if you ask me is a good thing since no surprise loud ads

@@DigitalReptiles i live in the Dallas area and grew up a Rangers fan. Every time i went to a Rangers game as a kid they lost. Finally said fuck you guys im out. Im talking about a few games a month all season. Started rooting for the Stros, this was mid 90s back in the Astros Dome with Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio.
