Stand By Me was such a great movie! Groups of kids on an adventure was a big part of movies in the 80's. Can you imagine what history Charlie lived thru? Civil War, Freedom, Old West, Spanish War, WW1, WW2, Korea and Civil Rights and Vietnam. Not to mention all the Presidents and inventions. Great little adventure you took us on!
Wow! 137 years old? That's incredible! I too am a fan of My Girl. It is one of only a handful of movies where I actually appreciated the acting talents of Jamie Lee Curtis. I have nothing against her as a person--just that her acting hasn't always been very good. This was a short and sweet video, Jay. I liked your editing of the clock strikes. Bravo!
Cool stuff ~ poor old Charlie, what a life he must have had. I’m going to be looking him up and learning more about him. The shout out to your dad was awesome. I also think of Stand By Me when near train tracks; I grew up in a neighborhood that once you made it through the surrounding woods, went down a big hill and waded thru a creek you were on the tracks. None of us kids were allowed there but we all went 😎.
Wow that is amazing to live to be 137, he sure did see a lot in his lifetime! That my girl house is just beautiful. Another great video, thank you so much TJ!!
Thanks for sharing that Jay! Never heard of Charlie Smith but now I have. That was nice the town of Bartow paid for his tombstone since he outlived his whole family, very sad but amazing!!
It’s quite incredible and mind blowing I was happy to find his resting place. He seemed like a awesome man with a lot of wisdom we could all learn from.
Badcock was actually founded in Mulberry, not as popular as Publix or Cypress gardens but still a big furniture chain none the less. Nice historic video. Had no idea about My Girl. Thanks for posting. Stay safe man!
Man oh Man, ya made it to where I was born and raised. I sure wish I would have known you were going to be here. There is so much more history in Bartow then you could imagine. True story, when I was about 7 years old our school James E Stephens Elementary had an adopted grandparent program through one of the nursing homes. Charlie Smith was my classrooms adopted Grandparent. You really have to come back and check out our small little community. We are full of History. And the next time you're in town you need to check out the Wonder house. It's totally amazing. Our city is known as the city of Oaks. If you come back you should go to the top floor of the courthouse and look out the window. It looks like a big broccoli field. And if you do come back and we hope you will. The Old Courthouse is actually a museum now. Please come back I promise you won't regret it there is so much to know about Bartow. In fact Bartow was actually known as Fort Blount. Okay I'm going to stop ranting but thank you for visiting our small but beautiful community. Much love from Bartow Florida.
So much fun man.l actually went by Wonder House but i saw a no trespassing sign. This is all good to know - I’ll be back Bartow one day Thanks first watching man
Hey Jay. I want to look, but do you know wether or not there were train tracks heading out to where the old steam locomotive was found? Sounds interesting. Had to have been tracks? Probably they got pulled up for scrap. Awesome channel, I been away from RUclips for a couple of years. Glad to see your channel. Looking awesome as ever.
When he was 132 people mag did an interview and article about him. He had a newstand on a a street corner and also lived in it when he was 112 He also rode with Jesse James. someone should do a movie. He was competent in the interview at 132 years old
137 wow I always think the ages in the bible are incredible funny how we don't live like that now. A friend told me where it's explained in the bible as to why, but can't remember where oh I can Google it Doofus 😂😘
I realize I kept pronouncing someone’s name wrong.. whoopsie daisies! Thanks for watching everyone. Stay safe out there

Charlie Smith is one of the most untalked about national treasures. He lived a long life and saw so much in that span.
It’s quite incredible and mind blowing I was happy to find his resting place. He seemed like a awesome man with a lot of wisdom we could all learn from.
Awesome Video. Would have love to met Charlie and listen to all his stories. Can't wait for your next journey...
Charlie lived because he stayed busy. Charlie was too busy to die. I didn't know Charlie, imagine he wasn't a layabout, couch potato.
Badcock was actually founded in Mulberry, not as popular as Publix or Cypress gardens but still a big furniture chain none the less. Nice historic video. Had no idea about My Girl. Thanks for posting. Stay safe man!

According to Wikipedia Charlie lied
TJ would you happen to know who America’s oldest woman is?
Hello 🙋😘
Research and census records show he was born in Georgia in 1888. Guinness Book of records disputed his claim of being 137 years old.
Charlie Smith out lived JFK & MLK!
