I think what you have to do is match the swingweight first by putting lead on the twelve and then put rest of the lead on the buttcap. Putting it over the length of grip is different than just under buttcap. Because putting weight on the grip increase the SW a little if any.
Dude, you could easily get the swing weight first and then added weight at the button of the racket. There's videos of Richard Parnell explaining how to perfectly match two racquets.
Lol exactly! He needs to get a full course on how to do racquet matching properly. Also he could use some clay or blutac to spread the weight all over the racquet so that i would come close to the other racquet that he is matching with. Its just funny how he does things thinking he really knows what his doing.
Also its alot easier when you have a machine doing the sw for you. He just dont know how to do it. 😂 Like just use clay or blutac to spread the weight all over the racquet before putting the lead. By the way theres a online course for this that Unstrung customs provided it can really teach him how to do it properly.
Just wanted to share what I tried for this : 3g at 12 (SW +10approx) 6g on throat below balance point (SW +2.4approx) 12g on handle (happened to have to upsize a grip) balance is around 32, I use a leather grip and poly string, not too polarised feel and stable, quite like a ps97!
Tennis spin readers this pro staff racquet is one of the most used and most modified racquets around.By simply removing the factory butt cap and installing the XTP Xtended Tennis Product butt cap you can add half an inch to the length and make it an XL version of itself. Yes its a heavier and different balanced racquet butt the half inch give more power spin and reach.Any racquet can be modified with the XTP cap..thx.john
You need to add lead at the top because it's the point you need the least amount for the greater increased amount of sw.Add 3 grams at 12 will increase the sw by about 10 points and 1 point less head light.
This was very interesting and informative. I modified my PS97_V10 to be, in effect, an RF light. I added a leather grip and lead tape at the top of the head to get the frame to 346g strung.
I'll probably add 20g of silicone to the handle rather than using lead tape. I bought one of those fake pro staffs from Ali Express and did something similar. It was actually one of the best feeling racquets I ever played with. My hitting partner commented on the topspin and heaviness of my ball. Unfortunately, it cracked after one match. If my genuine pro staff can feel as good after the mod, I'll be very happy. And hopefully it lasts longer.
BTW don't those original SW seem low to you? The PS97 is supposed to be around 328 and the LS around 314. Perhaps your players are using light strings, or your machine needs recalibrating. Anyway, even the customisation is done correctly to get to the same weight, balance and SW, the question is do the frames then feel the same? Does a frame covered in strips of lead, feel the same at contact as a frame with (presumably) thicker graphite/kevlar (more layers) (or foam filled) to start with? Pros often stick lead on their frames, but they begin with a solid lump of graphite. But if you stick loads of lead on a lightweight frame (thin graphite, not foam filled), will it really feel the same as the heavier mold?
97 is 21.5mm beam, while L is 23.5mm, so the latter is naturally stiffer, and will be more powerful if you matches it to regular one's weight and swingweight
It would take less time to use blutac and make the measurements match (literally minutes, especially with a swingweight machine)...the method (if you can even call it that) in this video is basically a bodge job!!!
Tennis warehouse has a swing weight customization tool that tells you where to put the lead to reach the proper swing weight and balance.. this guy doesn't know shite.
No, just no. This man cannot customise to save his life. For starters, no professional customiser changes the grip size in this process (unless specifically asked to do so)! There’s no such thing as saying “swingweight can’t be controlled”. Matching swingweight is the most fundamental component of customisation. There’s no excuses like “for most people, this is what they need”. Lead tape is weighed up to specific amounts for specific areas on the racquet to achieve needed adjustments. It’s not just randomly slapping strips onto the handle and hoping the numbers work out. It’s not even an especially tricky matching up for this particular case, given the starting specs of both racquets. Anyone familiar with customisation (doesn’t even need any machine or customisation calculator) can already see that 14g under the buttcap and 4g at 1200 will get pretty much bang on 325g, 320mm balance and 316 swingweight. It does not take “4-6 hours and tinkering”. 🤦♂️🤷♂️ But hey, good video on how not to do it! Send your racquets to Harry for shoot from the hip customisation, deserve what you get!
When it comes to this kind of videos, he's a total train-wreck. I remember a previous video when he said the same, that would take hours if at all possible !! Beggars belief how much of a technical amateur he really is and worst still, he refuses to learn :((
@@a2casius Well, he’s evidently shameless, making videos that consistently demonstrate his ineptitude in this area; with no subsequent acknowledgement of his errors ever. But as they say, “God loves a trier”! Makes for comedy gold watching, right enough! 😆🤣
@@F4BIO771 Accepted, but that’s a completely different matter. However, I’d feel sorry for anyone paying Harry for racquet customisation. He should just stick to what he’s good at.
Harry, for goodness sakes, stop making a fool of yourself with these kind of videos. You're clearly not a customisation specialist. You've been called out and corrected before and here again by comments but refuse to learn !! You're making yourself look like a complete amateur!! Stop this.

Why not cut thinner some of the led in the handle, and add it to the head?

Amazing! Ive been waiting for a video like this
How different it felt with actual hitting. I think the regular would be more stable yet. ?
the ls should be less stable and should have more free power
Customization and matching are difficult things to do AND very time consuming even for the experts. Thanks for your insight.
That offset lead would drive me nuts everytime I picked it up let alone being matched to a way underspec regular 97
This man needs to stick to just giving racquets to Coach Gu to test.
Why don't you use a leather grip for adding weight to the handle, it will not increase the grip size.
Can get it to weigh the same as a normal ps97 but will never feel the same
You need to add lead at the top because it's the point you need the least amount for the greater increased amount of sw.Add 3 grams at 12 will increase the sw by about 10 points and 1 point less head light.
Why do you think they stopped making the ULS pro staff?
This is a timely video. I'm just about to mod my regular Pro Staff 97 to make it more like the RF97.
Don't do it like this.....
I'd recommend giving this video a massive body swerve if you're considering a reference source for your project.

Where is play test on court ?
Man, you need to learn the basic physics of Swing Weight
L is in a different mold isn’t it ?
It's the same mold but the 97L it's stiffer to compensate the lower weight.
thicker beams

Sorry Harry, but there's so many things wrong with your approach to customizing.
