as good as the Halo suite is, I feel like there was a serious mistake letting the main string melody from Halo 1 become an electric guitar. I think it turned a truly piece of art that truly compliments the epic and sorrowful nature of Halo's backstory into a silly and shallow high school boy's alien-shoot-em-up fantasy
MarfeeWarfee it might be if heaven means not just having peace but the means and the will to protect it even if it means your death in the service of the lives of others. that's my idea of heaven. alas we are not there or equipped to live in such a place.
Its weird seeing conversations from 5 to 6 years ago in this comment section. I love video games live, and its just so hard to believe that such fantastic music can be this old already but reading these comments is just insane...
Saw VGL the first time it came to Calgary and the following tours as often as I could, when the guitar riff starts at 2:30, I still get vrey tingly and goosebumpy just like when I saw it live!
We're playing this in our band at the moment. I've never been this happy to receive music sheets before. I still remember the first time I heard the Halo theme, and I got goosebumps all over.
you know for a video game this is one of the most wonderful and outstanding peacies of music ive ever heard of its not just a soundtrakc its a mix of generations of music all in this one song...
This was the best show i have ever seen. Totaly epic. I saw this in my contry, Portugal, in December, and it was great. If you can imagine most of the people there, like me, were crying, living that amazing moment seeing and listen the memories of the great games. I recomend you to see. cheers.
My high school symphonic orchestra and band played together for a VGL Medley including this, Advent Rising, Civilizartion IV, and Kingdom Hearts. It was fun.
I love this. "Video Games Live" represents a public acknowlegment that video games ARE a form of art; musically, visually, and literary. Video Games are the mark of our generation, the history books will call this "the Video Game Age."
First of all, my band performed this piece at one of our concerts, and all of the adults were in complete shock when our conductor announced that we were playing halo suite, and were equally blown away by how awesome the song is. Second, I totally agree with you, Varzin13, video games are a form of music, whether people recognize it or not. there's nearly always that subtle background music playing, which hints at the mood of the situation. Thumbs up for gaming!
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil had one of my favorite videogame soundtracks of all time, the music always fit the mood, same with the Halo franchise, they're audibly beautiful and they wouldn't be as good without it.
Actually you totally can. My band just did it last night. we sang in the beginning of the halo civilization kingdom hearts medley. it was easy to sing in the beginning of the halo part simply by replacing some peoples instrumental parts with their voices. it was pretty awesome!
@Varzin13 Well said Varzin... ^_^ Thats the exact same thing i expect, showing you grandson in a future history book, "look son, thats when it all started..", lol. xD Thanks for your comment!
Well...the majority of my previous comments were in english so i suppose...yeah xD Anyways thanks for your comment and great you performing it live :-)
I agree. Without msuic in the backround of every game, it would be much less exciting. It hints towards what would happen and sets the mood. Who said video games are made by nerds. They are made by the most creative and artistic people on Earth. Long Live Gaming!
There is also a nice String Orchestra/percussion arrangement of this that my Orchestra has done and are doing again this year. I am the Orchestra teacher BTW. We aren't all "hard asses..."
I was so upset they didn't play this at Wolf Trap last night. Don't get me wrong, they were incredible and what they played was amazing, but 90% of reason I went was to see an orchestra play the greatest video game theme of all time. :(
@JaredTheTwitch Yes, but the halo 2 soundtrack had a lot, and I think this medley was mostly based on halo 2. But you got a lot of just orchestral sounds at the end.
I remember this... my first year in high school marching band we played this, Kingdome Hearts (dear lord I hated that song!) and Advent Rising (Kickass portion). Such good memories all tied around that old inside joke "This one time at band camp..."
Wow, this makes me mad, sad, and incredibly happy; My schools grade ten band gets to play this (Well, not exactly this version). And I'm stuck in grade twelve with frickin "Pirates of the Caribbean".
@Hakkar6993 No, it's the official CD Vol.1 which is (or was due to Vol. 2) offered for sale at the concerts. For more infos check here (remove the blanks) h t t p : / / t i n y u r l . com/6f9r4f8
I heard this on Pandora twice. And i just really wanted to here it again. Very beautiful.
Same here!
Just finished listening on Pandora... Now I'm here thinking about Pelicans and shit
Same i wish halo still sounded this good
Hear*
my high school band is playing this for our upcoming concert
Was such a badass song to play. sadly tuba were not allowed to do vocals, Mount got TICKED.
Dalton Stoner Do you know where your director got the music? I'm trying to get it for our band
Dalton Stoner same but at my middle school
Dalton, where can I buy these notes???
Dalton Stoner bruh me too
My high school orchestra is playing this for the next spring concert
I swear, I can never get through this without crying at the end.
We're doing this now with Kingdom Hearts, Civilization 4, and Halo Suite. :') Love band!
Yasssss
Same
Same lmao
All of those except take out kingdom hearts and put in pink panther ending
I'm going to be honest, I felt pretty emotional throughout the song, because Halo was the first game I've ever played, and I played it when I was 2.
as good as the Halo suite is, I feel like there was a serious mistake letting the main string melody from Halo 1 become an electric guitar. I think it turned a truly piece of art that truly compliments the epic and sorrowful nature of Halo's backstory into a silly and shallow high school boy's alien-shoot-em-up fantasy
No sabes como se llama la original sin ka guitarra eléctrica?
I wonder if this is what heaven sounds like?
Yes, yes it is
MarfeeWarfee it might be if heaven means not just having peace but the means and the will to protect it even if it means your death in the service of the lives of others. that's my idea of heaven. alas we are not there or equipped to live in such a place.
Gregorian Chant is holy music. It is actually where the origins of musical notation come from.
MarfeeWarfee Heaven doesn't exist
If Heaven exists, this is the middle ground fight against Hell to protect Heaven’s peace. We are the peacekeepers and we will protect it
Headphones off, going to hear this in studio monitors.MIND=BLOWN hopefully.
KrishKrusher if you get the proper file, not a youtube compressed file, it is stunning on monitors.
Wunderbar Gaming already did that ages ago

Me and my orchestra are playing this in march this year
We're playing this in our band at the moment. I've never been this happy to receive music sheets before.
I still remember the first time I heard the Halo theme, and I got goosebumps all over.
Absolutely fantastic live. God damn.
I'm playing this song in orchestra. It's amazing 👌🏾
you know for a video game this is one of the most wonderful and outstanding peacies of music ive ever heard of its not just a soundtrakc its a mix of generations of music all in this one song...
Just got the sheet music today. My director and band are SO ready for this.
I'm happy our band director is letting us do this, we are also doing bounty hunter theme from advent rising, angry birds, and kingdom hearts
343 needs to get Martin O'Donnell on the phone ASAP halo needs him and his style of music back in the franchise.
this song melts my imagination and dips it in awesome.
This was the best show i have ever seen. Totaly epic.

We just got this piece in my high school band. It gives me goose bumps everytime I hear it.
My orchestra played this one year in high school. Definitely wasn’t as good as this since we were high schoolers and didn’t have all the instruments.
We're playing the Video Games Live Medley currently in my orchestra class, I play cello...Yay for insane string crossing!
I love this song. I'm so glad our orchestra gets to play this song and a whole bunch of other Video Games Live songs for our Halloween concert.
My middle school band played this when I was with them (around a decade ago now)
that feel when u drivin the warthog with arbitur O.o
bignbrown wrong halo, but okay🤣
This is mainly the Halo 2 soundtrack
I played this on cello with my orchestra... FREAKING STRING CROSSINGS
I loved it :D
i played this in my band it was masive there around 60 of us but there spliting us up and forming a sympony
We're playing this song in our next concert, but the beginning is a singing part... and we can't sing...
Did this my freshman year. Best freaking piece ever. That with "Civilization" and "Kingdom Hearts"
if you're in band....there is a reason why people in band don't sing because if they wanted to they would be in choir.
Actually you totally can. My band just did it last night. we sang in the beginning of the halo civilization kingdom hearts medley. it was easy to sing in the beginning of the halo part simply by replacing some peoples instrumental parts with their voices. it was pretty awesome!
I'm gonna hear these guys live this April, can't wait!
When I went to see Video Games Live Marty O'Donnell himself introduced this live over skype, it was totally awesome.
playing this for high school orchestra
We're playing it right now! I love it more than life!!!! "Baba Yetu" is my all time favorite, and the Choir sang it for the xmas concert.
I remember playing part of this in high school. It was a combination of this, Civilization IV, and Kingdom Hearts. Yes, it was awesome.
I'm playing this in my band. (I'm percussion, and in this song I play suspended cymbal)
Yeah, the bass/timpani sounds really cool in this song.
same here man i know the feeling, but still you get to feel like a badass doing it
Playing this in band
We did this for this year's band season. It was awesome.
@Varzin13
Well said Varzin... ^_^
Thats the exact same thing i expect, showing you grandson in a future history book, "look son, thats when it all started..", lol. xD
Thanks for your comment!
6.01-6.37 - "This is the way the world ends." Well, if it's that big an explosion of pure epicness, I don't mind!
Master Chief isn't one man. He's all of us. He's the embodiment of hope.
..... And Cortana is just hawt.
my mom is one of the voices in the choir. coolest gig shes ever had
Halo was one of the best musics on videogames ever
Well...the majority of my previous comments were in english so i suppose...yeah xD
Anyways thanks for your comment and great you performing it live :-)
Oh how I miss playing this in band :(
this was published on St patrick's day of 2009, according to youtube
The nostalgia hits me every time.
@jaggedkill
Hahaha yeah that's the fate for many of us. xD
And not only for Halo....
Thanks for your comment. :-)
This is not just music. This is art.
Now this, THIS is MUSIC!
If a dictonary was made of sounds, this'd be next to Epic.
Saw VGL a few years ago and it was one amazing show:)
playing this in band finally a fun tenor sax part. but we are top 3 in the nation and tenors never get a fun part but this is really fun
Freut mich das es dir gefällt... :-)
It seems like everybody is playing this in their band...mine is too. The arrangement is really fun to play :)
We just played that in my high school band! It was really fun and pretty awesome. :)
I got the guitar part for this. I loved it
I agree. Without msuic in the backround of every game, it would be much less exciting. It hints towards what would happen and sets the mood. Who said video games are made by nerds. They are made by the most creative and artistic people on Earth. Long Live Gaming!
You know what's wrong in this world? This isn't available on iTunes....
+Zane Harrison i know right
Ha fucking losers with iphones😂
It is though.
Halo 4, probably the only console I have ever seemed to like.
Getting hype for the launch of Halo Infinite!!!
Exactly what @Loveorletloose said. This music is great, both from a gamer perspective and a musician...
ya ima play this in band and i play the french horn so i feel pretty lucky that my band teacher would pick this song!
: )
Yeah, it was pretty fun to play, I had to play the trumpet line though so my part wasn't as epic as it could have been
playing this in band rn
Heh i'm glad you like it, live is it even more powerful because of the live show. :-)
this is really fun to play as a field show xD i love playing for marching band :3
@crazybunni3g1rl Our orchestra just got this piece today. It's defiantly one of the more exciting pieces.
There is also a nice String Orchestra/percussion arrangement of this that my Orchestra has done and are doing again this year. I am the Orchestra teacher BTW. We aren't all "hard asses..."
Our orchestra played this once, it was awesome.
Ahhhhh I'm playing this is my orchestra this year. So Excited. Only a Performing arts high school would allow this XD
my high school band is playing this for our concert
this.is.AMAZING....and who else plays trombone?
YEEEEEEES
I was so upset they didn't play this at Wolf Trap last night. Don't get me wrong, they were incredible and what they played was amazing, but 90% of reason I went was to see an orchestra play the greatest video game theme of all time. :(
I went to this show yesterday!
@RyuHoly Dont Be Sad We got a Whole Universe To Explore man!
Halo music is just that insane.
@JaredTheTwitch Yes, but the halo 2 soundtrack had a lot, and I think this medley was mostly based on halo 2. But you got a lot of just orchestral sounds at the end.
Doing this and Civilization IV for band. God I love my teacher.
Excuse me. I have to go and play The Maw on Legendary.
@Jabberwockxeno That said, this isn't even the full version, they added stuf after 3 and ODST.
maybe we'll get a full one with Reach too.
hahaha, yeah that was it :-D
...the Metal Gear gag was superb...
That why everyone should go watch it, if they get the chance... xD
I wish I could play this. I heard it on my pandora and had a music-gasm
for some reason, each time I go to the bathroom, i played this song in my head. I don't know why, I just do
i play this in my marching band and its pretty cool
I remember this... my first year in high school marching band we played this, Kingdome Hearts (dear lord I hated that song!) and Advent Rising (Kickass portion). Such good memories all tied around that old inside joke "This one time at band camp..."
Wow, this makes me mad, sad, and incredibly happy; My schools grade ten band gets to play this (Well, not exactly this version).
And I'm stuck in grade twelve with frickin "Pirates of the Caribbean".
