Actually, having three kannahwak would also us the best usage of Rampengu's effect. This is quite a big deal, as baby kannahawk is what most directly gets our monsters out of deck and into circulation. While a rota is helpful, we'd also need to have a viable spiritual beast in hand to combo with Elder, as by nature the deck needs two cards as a minimum to do anything. But other plays are also just as viable as elder and kannahawk, such as the one showcased with kannahawk, any tamer, and brain research lab. There are other ways to get good first turn boards without having to start with elder, it typically just requires an extender such as foolish burial paired with apelio, gold sarc, which in essence becomes part of our turn 1 combo. Also, the plays in the video weren't bad at all, and would have been very decent before the link monster came out. But with the release of the link monster there is a slightly more optimized version of the elder +kannahawk/rampengu combo, such that we also end with the link monster on board in addition to what we'd usually have with ulti-kannahawk, steeds, and ambush. Dreary Doll released a video on it, as did Azallea, though I prefer Dreary Doll's showcase.
Actually, I think he did pretty well to demonstrate the protential of the deck. With either of the birds and elder, he can do everything. but without elder and there is no other way to get the extra normal summon, the only thing he can do is to summon a ritual beast and hope for the best. This deck's consitency has been pretty iffy from the beginning
I don't understand how can you summon elder then spiritual beast cannahawk when elder let's you normal 1 ritual beast in addition to your normal summon you used the effect summoned hawk which is a spiritual beast not a ritual beast

Not anymore. The new link makes getting 3 searches with hawk easy as long as you open hawk and elder
3 searchs but you cant defuse anything. It's best to plan to defuse everything except dolphin at start of opponent's turn
Fenrigus No you can get 3 searches, one of which lara as a extender and the last 2 being traps. You are still able to tag out afterwords.
