- In this episode of Van Camping, I hike down to a river to attempt fly fishing. I then spend the rest of the afternoon doing camp tasks and sipping whiskey by the campfire while cooking a steak.

More homesteader than overlander, I always enjoy time spent on simple chores amongst nature.
I like that, I may have to use that as a video title someday.
Jason
Hi Jason, always a pleasure to watch the Van Camping channel and Primal Outdoors. Thank you for you outstanding channels.
I feel you’re getting back into your groove. I’ve really enjoyed the last videos you have been putting out. Great work 😁✌️
i started watching youtube videos with your channel. This one is great. What a pleasure to watch. And 2 in 2 weeks; thank you.
Greetings from the highest north of germany
So happy your making videos on this channel and the primal outdoors channel again! Thanks for another great video!
This was beautiful, a perfect fall camping video.
Jason it’s so relaxing watching you split wood, campfire cook and be outside. It might be routine for you but for those of us that can’t get out it’s such a nice release.
Cooking and eating is one of the reasons we go to the wilderness! You definitely eat well. Great channel.
Damn it Jason! Now I have to save the chicken for tomorrow and grill me a stake for dinner tonight. lol.
@@milesj179 😆You're smarter than my talk to text! Congrats Mr. spell check! You must be so proud.
Looked great. Thanks for the video
Great video as usual! Your fly casting is definitely getting better, love to see that. Cheers!
I often find myself pondering life’s important questions over a plate of bacon as well 😎apparently you should have taken the spin cast
"Two slices of bacon today?" Maybe its a five slice day. "Two eggs?" . Maybe a four egger. The tough decisions you have to make every day while you are camping.
Good to see you back in the swing of things. Very relaxing video
Those simple meals looks ❤
Another great video! What you said about having a van during inclement weather is very true. I have a Promaster that I have built out, almost done, that I took for a five day camping trip with my dog, Boone' a few weeks ago. It was in the Adirondacks. The first two and a half days were pretty cold with rain and snow showers. I'd leave the Wabasto thermostat set for 60* when we would go on hikes or walks for an hour or so several times a day and it was so nice coming back to a nice warm van.
Outstanding Jason!
Another great video!! Love seeing these places. Keep em coming!!
1:25 what a wonderful dilemma 👏
Great video Jason!
Welcome back in my morning coffee✌️
Thank you for bringing us along; it was a great video!
Really enjoy your videos, keep them coming.
Another excellent video Jason , 🙏
I’d have gone with my spin rod, black and yellow Panther Martin with a gold blade, heck maybe just my gold pan and a bucket…🧐. I need to completely restring my fly rods. Awesome video. I have to say, you really don’t appreciate the cinematography until you start thinking about possibly doing your own channel. The thought that you put into those shots, the editing…just really impresses the hell out of me. Take a lot of forethought to put this kind of quality content together. I’m a perfectionist to a ridiculous degree, I’m not sure I’d be able to do this without taking a year to do one video. Either way, I really appreciate watching these on my long shifts, looking forward to being in my Sierras. Thank you for a bit of sanity. 🥴👍
Good stuff Jason...
Thank you
Great video!
So glad to see you back!!
You're the king of outdoors! Love your style of filming, editing, communication and content. I watch other channels but most spend too much time on traveling in vehicle or cooking. You have a nice balance of all especially time spent at and around camp.
Interested in a chainsaw. Possible to get your saw on amazon page? Also, your chair! It's amazing!
Thanks for taking us along and for what you do.
A lot of recent videos! Good Onya! I just got home from a seven day trip. Your vids help me to decompress.
Great video. I live in Medford and love that part of Oregon. So nice seeing you out and about
Great info on the Coleman lantern...always wondered why it did that !
Thank you was a pleasure to watch damn arthritis in my hands does got me down so bad I don't get to enjoy doing things like that anymore 👍
Autum camping campfires ❤
Hi Jason. It’s so cool to watch you comfortably enjoying yourself so at easy camping in the wilderness. One can tell you have the wisdom of experience. I’m about to retire and venture out to see America via my Class C. Albeit not as secluded as your adventures because being 70, I’ll be mixing boon docking, RV parks, urban overnights, harvest hosts and etc… One of my worries is theft. Have you experienced anything like that? Thanks for your informative insightful creative content. 😊👍🏻
I have been lucky and not had any issues with theft while in the backcountry. I do think that could be more of an issue near towns.
Jason
Kind of curious why you are eating steak with a spork lol. This video is getting back to what I used to love about your channel, keep up the good work!
Amazing
Hi, Jason! Beautiful out there. I enjoyed your chainsaw sharpening set up. I love my combo chain chisel and rake file kit (exact one you have.) But I don't have that chainsaw Stump Vice...so thanks for the reminder! I ordered one!
Its a worth while investment , its of course not necessary but its worth the convenience in my opinion.
Jason
Dude, you had me laughing at the size of the pieces of steak you were putting into your mouth!
Nice
Seemed real shallow. I was rooting for the fly rod but somedays it's just not meant to be. Peace.
I am amazed that the same Ozark directors chair's that all of these guys use at the big gatherings are not used on their videos........
👍👍👍
"...cooked in a cast iron pan over the campfire." That's the best seasoning there is. The only thing that would make it better is if it was venison steak, but that's just my opinion. 🍖🍖
thank u..
Love your simple meals you make, I myself us Mckormick seasonings on everything even my vegetables, I never see you eat bread 🍞 are you allergic to gluten?
Fly rod… good choice…. regardless…
👍🏻🤙🏻🇿🇦🔥
Jason,
What is the brand of that sweet buffalo plaid jacket!?
Does your chainsaw leak bar oil when it’s stored vertically, do you store it with bar oil in the tank? Thanks for the videos
What did you do with the rear AC/Heat system in the rear drivers side of the van during your build? Can't find info on what works.
What kind of camping chair do you use 🤔
✌️🫡👌
What is that new lighter you have been using? Recommended?
Is that a filson jacket you have on at the end of the video? Red and black.
Топор Fiskars? В России они тоже очень популярны.
Propane lanterns just aren't the same as the white gas ones.
Hey Jason, what chair are you using in this video?
Its a Iceco chair
A million, little simple jobs to do every day that to most people are meaningless.
Practicing the Fine Art of Doing Nothing. You have to understand..
Please don't make it a cooking channel
Great video!
