THAT'S LOVE MF - Behind the song

DAY 7 of my song-by-song introduction to the new album. Keep checking back here as I dissect one album track a day for the next 12 days right up until the album release on the 17th.
Today:
THAT'S LOVE MF
Inspired by a long ago message to a friend who seemed (to me) to be running from what they thought love was. I pointed out that it was a million different things, each valid and valuable. The line I wrote to them ‘that’s love motherfucker’ jumped out at me.. made me laugh.
Back to present day.. I wanted to bring some ease to these songs that seemed a bit heavy and in some cases, dark. So I set out to write something completely artless. I wanted it to feel thrown together. Breaking the 4th wall, talking about the process, de-mystifying.
Something you could sing to your lover, your friend, your kid, your dog. It was meant to act as a space to take a breath, to make you smile. Something unexpected.
Getting a crowd to sing this with me is one of the greatest joys. I sing it with love and the deepest respect.. but it ties in very neatly with my exceptionally overactive potty mouth also!
