    Amazing how the greens suddenly make sense once you added in the background. Comparative colors still boggle my mind. The fact that you can see right "through" them, even though it looks somewhat strange in the beginning, speaks volumes about your skill as a painter.
    Great stuff.

    This is first genuine alla prima art example I seen on you tube yet. I seen many videos of ‘alla prima’ drawing videos but they weren’t genuine alla prima. They were rendering, glazing, smudging etc .. lol. You did beautifully and masterfully. 😍

      Thank you for stopping by watching my video, there are many alla prima paintings you can find on my channel. I like to paint a bit thicker at the beginning, so the paint can be pushed around, build and mix different layers of color easier.

    Thank you for posting this up, I need to get more loose rather than my graphic/superrealism from graffiti style of 25 years I dont want to lose though.
    But cheers I noticed you worked from darker colours then worked lighter and loose.
    Also, was you picking up colours from the painting, with your brush then putting colours down elsewhere? Than mixing everything from a palette again, I tend to do that a lot. Lastly, I've got a bad habit of using 1-3 brushes though out a wet on wet oil painting
    Amazing artist man,
    PS did you use medium? and using canvas board or panel would help in my OCD in wasting canvases when used for oil sketches, thanks again sorry for the ?'s

    • @ZimouTan
      @ZimouTan  7 лет назад +2

      It is not much of matter what brushes and canvas to use, rather the way to apply paints and pressures on the brush are more important.

    Alla prima is the prime method for a technical disaster, totally unsuitable for portraits; 1) the nose sticks out like a foreign object, with light of its own; 2) the chin and the cheek do not share same light and the shadows are made up; 3) the forehead is too flat; 4) eyes dive into the ridge of the nose; 5) the middle of the nose is 1/2" too wide, positioned below the middle of the eye; 6) subject's left eye and left eyebrow are too high; 7) subject's back of the head/skull is too shallow; 8) subject's lobes are either free or attached; if free, correct shadow is missing; So on ..
