Man you saved me omg almost had to pay for a tow. I went to Water Country USA in VA and forgot I had my keys in my pocket while in the wave pool smh. Keys soaked wouldn’t unlock car had to search good ole faithful RUclips on how to overcome the obstacle. I landed on this video and man what a lifesaver. Headed home driving without a working key all thanks to you guys. I sure am glad I got a spare key

guys, I don't know what type of sorcery or witchcraft this is, but it worked. In my case, the fob was not dead. there's some crazy RF interference in a few spots at our office parking lot (or at least that is what I am guessing as this is a continual problem but only at our office). In my case when opening the door with the valet key, it set off the alarm and without your little trick, I don't know if/when I would have been able to start the car and stop the horn beeping Thanks for posting.

How can I open it without activating the alarm?
My Power Wagon sometimes won’t start unless I open the passenger front door first. I’ve had the truck about 6 months now, it just started doing that 5-6 times only in the past week.

How's your truck going to start if the battery is dead like you commented earlier
The key in the fob has a smaller perimeter chip that when put up to the ignition button bypasses the key fob and tells the ignition security that the programmed key is in the vehicle. The key fob with a good battery will read just outside your truck with the transponder.

The problem is the truck won't Recognize the key fob because the key fob is dead and if it really was dead the horn would be blowing and lights would be flashing I Have experience.
Wrong it worked for me horn blowing and all from alarm sat in driver seat put fob right up against the start/stop button and it started and alarm went off. 2019 Ram 1500

@Gregory Lovett you have to change battery in fob that was the only way I could get it to work and that is what happened as soon as I put new battery in it work fine and if you don't want to do it the parts department at your local dealership should change it for you.
What are you supposed to do then

When I use the key to unlock the truck it sets off the panic system though. How you prevent that (other then replacing your battery!)

I haven't experienced this problem yet , BUT how will that truck start with a dead battery like there showing ?? Doesn't make sense....
It's two different things buddy my guy. If your vehicle battery is dead this gets you in the vehicle. If your key fob is dead this will get you in the vehicle and start your truck.
I hope this comment 1 year later helps you solve this terrible problem You have probably been contemplating for the last year that the video creator didn't clarify for you.

My thought also. I'm afraid they missed something. And the key inside the fob DOES NOT start the vehicle. If someone could show this actually working it would be greatly appreciated. Mine definitely does not. And I'm on my 3rd key fob in only 3 years. Such a stupid system instead of a plain old key. $300 each time the locksmith has had to come.
How to reset the keys but when I used one set of keys my truck started honking even though my trucks on I don't know when I use key them my truck just goes wild when Strait honk 2016 Ram 1500 Lone Star

Doesn’t work on mine regardless. The key won’t turn in the door. I cannot get into my truck at all.
My battery died in the cold while I was in the hospital and now I cannot get into my truck at all.

When I use my emergency key to unlock the door the alarm goes off, then I put the key in the ignition and turn and it does nothing, alarm blaring, remote start disabled had to pull battery cables to get it to stop and now I don't have a truck that runs. My truck is a 2011 Ram 2500 it has a plastic turn key / fob, you don't use the brake to start the truck normally. Will that trick still work since mine isn't push start?

My 2020 1500 alarm sets the alarm off when you pop the door open using the key.
I only have a FOB everything door to door until alarm works and I can start too.
Only the emergency start does not work

Yup, just happened to me too. At the time I had no idea how to stop it or stop car, but I did have replacement batteries. So I fumbled around with the fob for about 3 minutes trying to change the battery while the horn constantly honked.
Idk if you can stop it. Mine does it to. I think it’s if your lock is being picked or being used to break into the truck it will set the alarm off because the truck does not know if your using your key or a lock pick so the computer thinks it’s being stolen

How did you disable the car alarm
Because when they did this video, he didn't lock it with the fob, he locked it with the key..... Your alarm will sound if you last locked the vehicle with the fob.. don't worry, as soon as you actually start the vehicle, the alarm will shut off.

All good, but...what do you do if the fob is dead and you own an ecodiesel Ram? The ecodiesels do not have a push-button start. Will the fob still start the eco if the battery is dead? Thanks.
Ecodiesel does have a push start, I have a 17 Laramie that does.
my eco diesel has it with the Larimine Package

When I unlock my doors with the key, the alarm sounds. How do you get the alarm to stop screaming? I have either a 2019 or 2020 Laramie 1500 (can't remember off hand).

@@danieldelgado179 so I ended up getting into the truck (while the alarm was going off) and pressed the key fob into the ignition button (like you would normally do with your finger but used the end of the fob instead- my fob did NOT have batteries in it) and not only did the truck start but the alarm turned off!
@@aurbiaki yup exactly how it went for me. My key fob was in 8ft of water though and it wouldn’t work and I used the key to open driver door and alarm went off. Found this video and wallah it worked alarm went off truck started and got me home to my other key fob.
You have to start the vehicle.

My panic mode starts going off when I open the door.
lol kinda pointless to demonstrate this with a working keyfob... when you put your hand behind the door handle, you could see the blinkers going off, meaning it detected the fob. you could've pulled the battery out :)
I had to do this at the airport yesterday as my fob wouldn’t work. Criticize the video all you want but this got me out of a jam.

So what happens if you lost your key fob but you have a spare key how do you unlock your truck without the alarm going off and start your truck without the key fob but I do have a spare actual physical key
